The beauty of this book lies in the graphics. There is no denying. It gives a lovely message but the art is simply stunning: I could not stop being amazed.
I recommend it to the young, sensitive audience who sometimes feel like they are not special enough.
You are.
The title is what called my attention.
It has a great message for kids and a great opening for parents and caregivers to talk.
A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A lovely positive message written in prose. The text was lovely but I didn't feel that the pictures did it justice.
It is a sweet story with beautiful illustrations and pleasing to the ear when read aloud. My children enjoyed it. They liked her shirt and that she can be herself. They asked me to read it again. Its a good book to read with your kids and ask opened ended questions.
Invisible Me
by Krystaelynne Sanders Diggs
this a great book showing how we see ourselves because of someone else behavior, a young girl feels invisible because she does not get immediate response of her mother, nor her class mates. She takes it into her own hands and finds what will draw their attention.
Such an important message and lesson being construed in this book. This book teaches children how to affirm themselves when they are lonely. As a former shy kid (still a shy kid) I really enjoyed the book. The illustrations were also just gorgeous! Also loved how the protagonist was a little Black girl--we need more Black girls in children's media!! Thank you for the ARC :)
Wow! What beautiful illustrations. Actually, these illustrations are a masterpiece. They are amongst the best illustrations I have seen in my life. Also, the story is cute, it's about a little girl who feels ignored and hence invisible. Instead of feeling sad, she choses to make herself a bright T-shirt to stand out. And she embraces herself for who she is.
What an eye-opening book about how a little girl navigates her feelings for feeling ignored. I have three children and my middle son is the quiet one who has trouble making friends because he's shy and doesn't know how to start conversations. I like how the book shows the girl turning her negative feelings into something positive, making her feel better. I enjoy reading this author's books and look forward to reading more in the future.
Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this book.
I've never seen or read any book on this type of topic before, so immediately it intrigued me.
It was very unique. I liked how it was't just a 'happy every after' story, and it felt realistic and honest. I think young people would find some comfort in this book.
I love the illustrations in the book too. Very colourful, but not harsh - very calming.
I hope this book encourages more book on topics like this - more real and honest books for young people.
Every kid can relate to feeling invisible at some point, so this book will likely resonate with young readers. Sometimes adults have to focus on other priorities. Sometimes other kids aren't as inclusive as we'd wish. Sometimes it feels like there isn't a place for us. This story will help kids recognize that everyone feels this way occasionally and there are lots of healthy things we can do about it.
The illustrations are one of the best parts of this book. They're so bright and vivid and engaging! The story is told in verse, but sometimes word choice and meter seem to be sacrificed to serve the rhyme. Still, the story has a strong message that will be helpful for young people. This would be a great classroom read for early elementary and could spark some great conversations!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Sweet and heartfelt. The little girl is relatable and no one (not her mother, or her classmates) are villainous, which I appreciated! Because even though someone didn't mean to make you feel a certain way, your feelings are valid! Even if they didn't do anything wrong, your feelings are valid!
This reads like a perfect short story. I feel most of us will be able to relate to the character. With such amazing illustrations and the beautiful writing, the storybook talks about a girl who feels lonely in her home because of the busy adults and at school as it happens when you are not in a group. But yes, once we start accepting ourselves as we are and communicate more , things do work out eventually as long as we try.
Love the concept of the book.
Thank you, BooksGoSocial for the advance reading copy.
