I wasn't really sure which way this one would go, which having reads LOTS of thrillers, is rare for me!
Good weekend read and could absolutely see this being on screens with plenty of jump scares.
Well... I wasn't sure where this book was going!! It kept me wanting to read to find out! Well written, great storyline and fast paced. Am I convinced that it happened as we found out - possibly not but I guess that doesn't matter! Loved reading it.
What a fast paced read! I loved it! This book was full of action and had me guessing up to the big reveal. I loved how the ending typed everything together.
214 Palmer Street is a great read for mystery lovers. The story is full of twists and turns that you will not see coming. Sweet Sarah thinks she has the perfect marriage until she doesn't. She quickly realizes that she may not really know that man that she vowed to spend the rest of her life with. As the reader, you will feel like you are part of Sarah's journey to find the truth.
This book clearly demonstrates that what happens in the past, is never over. The book opens with an attack on Sarah. She has been hit in the head with a rock, but who would have done this? She doesn’t have any enemies or drama in her past. Sarah embarks on a journey to find out why she has been targeted. She comes to find out, it isn’t even her past indiscretions that are the reason for the attack, but those of someone close to her. Through her journey into examination of the life of someone close to her, she discovers an evil act that has affected the lives of others for over 20 years. Perhaps the reason for her attack is to keep the past in the past. This book was a quick, easy read and I will seek out other books by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book, it’s well written with a good storyline and well developed characters.
I did find it slightly predictable though, and the ending was more or less how I expected.
However, this is still a good book. It’s fast paced and it kept my interest throughout.
I’ll look out for this author in the future.
Very quick, fast paced book. I was able to finish this one in about two days. I liked the character development even if they weren't the most likable characters in general. The story line was pretty good but also a slight amount predictable.
Wow. What a book. What a premise. Just wonderful. I didn't know if I was coming or going. So many twists. Loved it. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this book! The description of it had me hooked, and it did not disappoint. It had a lot of plot twists that kept me guessing, and the ending was very satisfying. This book definitely makes me want to read more from this author. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries, plot twists, and psychological thrillers. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion and Narrated by: Stacey Glemboski is a psychological thriller. Sadly. It took me a while to get used to the audio voice I think I may of enjoyed this book if I read it, not listened to it. The story was good with good twists and turns and lots of secrets however the Narrator I found boring and she had a repetitive voice........I was looking forward to this book especially as Karen is a new author to me but it will not put me off reading or listening to her books in the future.
Big Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a wild ride - old secrets revealed and the lengths some will go to protect them. It was a well paced, sometimes confusing story, but compelling enough to keep going. It touched on some themes that are relevant to our world, but cannot be described for fear of spoilage. A solid, entertaining read.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for letting me read this one!
How far do you go to prove the man you married isn't a murderer? With lies and half truths, how was she supposed to just let it go? Running away, breaking in, damaging personal property, and of course you must get rid of the nosey neighbor. How many laws can she break while trying to find answers? & who is watching her do it all?
Really good read with several different POVs. Mostly fast paced and intriguing. There were a couple of repetitive parts & I think Sarah was the only character I liked. Well & Phil. But you were supposed to suspect everyone else was evil or at least not good. Definitely worth the read!
Drew me in from the very first page! My first read by this author but definitely will not be my last. Smoothly written with plenty of twists and turns to keep me furiously flipping the pages. Loved it! Five Stars.
I chose to read 214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion as it seemed like an intriguing idea of a storyline and I have not read any of this author’s work before. I will not be trying to explain the plot as I believe that the ‘blurb’ writers do a much better job without giving anything away.
It is in the main a psychological thriller with a significant mystery in the background. The main idea is a good one but I feel that this read somehow missed the mark for me. The characters were not truly believable and I felt that Sarah’s and Kirk’s characters in particular, were given extra background and lines as they went along to try and adjust them to their behaviour and their resulting actions.
All in all I was left somewhat disappointed in this book but I realise that others might like it and it has some good ideas.
My first book to read by this author but definitely not my last! Such a gripping novel that made it hard for me to put his book down once I started it. Highly recommend!!
Having never read any books by this author, the burb did intrigue me! Sadly it was a little flat, and there was too much going on and too many jumps to different POV - I do not give up on a book though, it is someone’s “baby” after all! And although I am not saying the baby isn’t cute - it’s just not as cute as others out there!
That being said - I would certainly request another of her books.
I dove into this, despite mixed reviews in Goodreads. McQuestion is a new author for me. Despite an interesting start, I pushed through but didn't love this one (I always finish!). A bit too slow and predictable.
The premise of this story is great but the characters were a little all over the place and it jumped around a lot which can be confusing. All in all a good story but not my favorite
This was pretty good! I wouldn't say it was amazing, but I did enjoy it enough and the plot had a few good twists. I just felt like there was a lot going on, to get fully invested. The ending was a little bit to perfect, everything is explained. I would've liked it to have a bit more suspense. Overall, I'd definitely check out more books by this author. It was a quick read that I wanted to finish and see how it played out.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I hadn’t read any of this author’s books before, but I enjoyed this one, although wasn’t blown away by it.
It’s about Sarah, a young woman supposedly happily married to Kirk and thinking about starting a family. Until one day, Sarah is attacked by an unknown person in her backyard and left with a head injury. The repercussions of this lead to an unearthing of long buried secrets and lies, which mean things will never be the same again.
I got into the story quickly and the character of Sarah especially intrigued me. I wanted to know why she was in this stranger’s house and whether her husband, Kirk, was really as devoted as he seemed. The characters were well portrayed, albeit not very likeable, and the underlying tension continued to build throughout the book, leaving us wondering who to trust.
There are different timelines and voices in different chapters, including an unknown person and this was cleverly done. It wasn’t difficult to figure out who this was, although this didn’t spoil the plot for me.
I would read another of the author’s books and recommend this for a quick, twisty read.
Thanks to the publishers Bookouture and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
