214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion.
The pretty young woman who answers the door tells a convincing story. She’s Sarah. The house-sitter. Just here for a month. An old friend of Cady’s who needed a place to stay. She’s pleasant and warm, and Maggie wanders back to her house thinking she might have made a new friend. Yet she can’t help but wonder why Cady never mentioned Sarah.
A very good read with good characters and not so good characters. Lots of twists and turns. 4*.

Thank you so much @Netgalley and Karen McQuestion for this ARC

From the start I was hooked and i loved the pace, the building of the story and the slow reveal of the truth.

It was such an entertaining and gripping thriller and I was really invested to finding out the truth!

I really enjoyed the short chapters and mix of POV! The ending - wow! Was so good.

Thank you!!

214 Palmer street by Karen McQuestion
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

What happened at 214 Palmer Street ?
This story revolves around a woman who uncovers a mess of truths and questions after her own attack . The perpetrator is unknown - but its just the beginning of a nightmare where her husband is seemingly in the middle .
Sarah , is hell bent on knowing the truth, even if it means faking being a house sitter for a wealthy couple on their month long leave for work . Even if it means being arrested for breaking and entering .. even if it means uncovering her worst fear , and losing everything she loves in the process.

This book is a twisty, on the edge of your seat cautionary tale not to trust those who you think are the most trustworthy. I read the entire book in just 1 day ! I could not put it down . From the start your bound to be hooked, as every page is just proof that everyone is hiding something, and you need to figure out what it is.

This was my first novel by Karen McQuestion. I really enjoyed the book from page 1. The book is a quick read that will keep you turning the pages... my only wish for the book it that it was a little short and rushed and I wish it was a little more developed and longer so I could enjoy it for a few more days. While the book seemed a little predictable at times, it kept me on my toes and ready for the next chapter.

This can be a great summer book club thriller... I would definitely recommend it to my group.

Sarah is attacked on her patio and knocked unconscious, which sets in motion the unveiling of the secrets of the house at 214 Palmer Street. The book gets off with a good start and promising plot, but it’s downhill from there, as the story falls apart with one implausibility after another. The dialogue is bland and formulaic, and if you read a lot of books in this genre there’s just not enough suspense to sustain the reader’s interest. The “big reveal” is pretty obvious early on, with a predictable ending. Very disappointing. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good thriller and 214 Palmer Street did not dissapoint.

The recipe for the perfect thriller is a concerned neighbor or busybody who glimpses an unexpected trespasser who calls herself Sarah and says she is a housesitter. Cue the fear of Sarah being seen and a concerned neighbor and you have yourself a great thriller . I loved the character development ,the plot ,the setting and I look forward to reading more books by the author .

I received a complimentary copy all opinions expressed are entirely my own

This was a good mystery/thriller but I wasn’t blown away as I’ve read a lot in this genre and it didn’t provide me with anything new and unique

214 Palmer Street (previously The Uninvited Guest) by Karen McQuestion is a cleverly written psych thriller with lots of suspense that actually lives up to that billing.
From the opening chapter when we meet Sarah, the reader knows that something it just off. But it takes a while to figure out what that is.
And then it takes even longer to figure out why that is.
The author does a great job of slowly building the suspense while allowing the reader to question events right along with Sarah. It makes for an engaging and active read, which I appreciate.
I don’t want to talk story too much, because (yeah, I’m repeating myself) I’m not a spoiler type of blogger.
But I will say that due to the awesome writing style and tight plot, I suspected everyone of something at one point or another. Even Sarah, who is supposed to be the victim, does not escape suspicion.
Is there gaslighting going on? Maybe. But between what characters?
The chapters alternate between “Then” and “Now” and it is helpful to pay attention to each one so you can keep the action straight. Not that it’s confusing, but it does jump around to fill in the gaps of the story as Sarah puts pieces together.
There is also a mysterious “Her” narrator who has occasional chapters. You might guess who it is, but chances are that will happen pretty far into the book. It’s just another engaging aspect of the story.
Actually, in writing this review, I realize that the author does to a certain character exactly what other characters did in the story. I don’t want to say any more than that, but when you read it, you’ll recognize who I mean.
And you should read it.
Even though a couple of my suspicions were correct, I was not expecting the climax to occur the way it did. Talk about a thriller! As that suspense built, I was turning pages late into the night to find out the end result.
And that’s not something I often do.
214 Palmer Street is a solid psych thriller. I always look forward Karen McQuestion’s books and I am never disappointed.

Author, Karen McQuestion, is a "go-to" author for me and this book does not disappoint! This book involves a mystery between friends of long ago. But the past always seems to rear its ugly head. This read held me in suspense and had me reading long into the night! A definite 5-star story!

214 Palmer Street is the first book I've read by Karen McQuestion. I was beyond excited to see this one up for a book tour, and had to grab a spot!

Sarah and Kirk Aden have a wonderful, happy marriage. Until one day Sarah is struck in the head with a rock in her own backyard. That's where the suspense begins! Is Kirk really the loving and attentive husband he claims to be? Is Sarah hiding a secretive past? This psychological thriller really gets in your head! I thought the plot was really creative. The story takes a turn from Sarah and Kirk to his childhood friends, Gavin and Clarice. You learn a lot of untold secrets from this trio of friends.

I've never read a psychological thriller quite like this! Karen McQuestion's style of writing flowed really well. It was told from multiple POV. It was a fast read for me, and was unputdownable! I was hooked from the first chapter and the suspense just kept coming!

I also enjoyed the different personalities of all the characters. Kirk drove me a bit crazy. He was a bit of a pushover, especially when it came to his friends Gavin and Clarice. Clarice got under my skin a bit, but I enjoyed what she added to the plot. The ending was unforgettable--never saw it coming!

Highly recommend to those who love suspenseful psychological thrillers with twists and lots of crazy secrets!

I will post my review on instagram @thrillersandcoffee on my book tour date - April 8th.

Many years ago 214 Palmer street had a bomb shelter on its property. As teenagers, Kirk and his friends used it as a hangout. Eventually the bomb shelter was closed up and buried.

Now, Kirk is happily married to Sarah and living in their own house. 214 Palmer Street is owned by another couple.

After Sarah is mysteriously hit over the head in her own backyard things start to change in her life. New things about her husband and his past come to light. Sarah wonders why she has never heard about any of them. Bored at home after giving up her job due to the attack Sarah begins to investigate her husbands past.

I was interested in this book right from the start. I liked the alternate points of view and timelines. The characters were all realistic if not all likeable. A fast paced read for the most part. While there weren't any big surprises for me I still enjoyed the story.

This was my first book by this author and I will look into reading more of her work.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Sarah Aden and her husband Kirk were happy together – Kirk adored his new wife while Sarah felt a happiness and contentment she’d never known before. The night Sarah arrived home from work, with Kirk not home yet, and she stepped outside, was where things changed for Sarah and those surrounding her. Being knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant, and Kirk finding Sarah when he arrived home was a dreadful shock. Sarah’s time in hospital and subsequent treatment, left Sarah feeling at times, nauseous, dizzy and not sure of her mental capabilities anymore.

When Sarah went to housesit at 214 Palmer Street without telling Kirk where she would be, without telling anyone, she wondered if she was doing the right thing. But she had to know the answers to the questions circling around inside her head. If she was ever to be happy again, she needed the truth. But what was the truth? What had happened in the long ago past?

214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion is a twisty psychological thriller which I enjoyed. I found the middle part to be somewhat slow and drawn out, which could have been tightened up by a good editor, but the ending was fast-paced and chilling! Sarah was a likeable character, but boy, there were some nasty ones! I’ve only read Dovetail by this author before, and loved it, and have a couple more on my TBR. Going on Dovetail – an historical novel – 214 Palmer Street isn’t the author’s best, but still worth recommending.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion
Sarah must uncover what the secret is at 214 Palmer Street. She suspects, but can she really know for sure? No one was supposed to know that she was even there until the next door neighbor knocks on the door. Don’t you just hate a nosy neighbor!
This story is will have you guessing with all of its twists and turns. Everyone has an angle. Everyone is out for themselves. When will the truth finally come out? Will you be brave enough to face it when it does?
Pick up this book. You will not be disappointed!!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC at my request in exchange for my honest opinion.

First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

214 Palmer Street drew me in from the first chapter. It started out with multiple POV's which I am a fan of and then interlaced the individual stories into one. I found at one point that the multiple POV's almost turned into completely separate stories which made the plot a little confusing but in the end it made sense.

What I liked:
-multiple POV
-whodunnit scenario
-a relationship where the man is protective of his wife

What I found interesting:
-secret keeping in the relationship on the man's side (feel like the woman is usually the one keeping a secret in thrillers)
-was the husbands persona a cover up to hide the heinous crime or did he really love her?

What I didn't love:
-categorized as a psychological thriller but I felt like it was more of a mystery
-no major twists or turns throughout the plot
-somewhat predictable

I would have loved to hear more about Cady and her husband's reaction after coming back from their trip. Did they know about the bomb shelter? What would have happened if the landscapers found it? I felt like we could have either gone without them all together or we should have been given more from their POV.

Overall, I still thought this was a solid, griping read. I found myself really wanting to know what was going to happen next. It was an easy to read page turner and an enjoyable story.

The description of 214 Palmer Street really drew me in and I did enjoy the story but it was a little predictable in places. It was a quick read but it just did not excite me as much as I thought it would.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

Great little mystery! I enjoyed this book even though it was pretty predictable even early on. I liked the characters and the twists and turns along the way. The ending fit well and tied everything together seamlessly. I will definitely try another book by this author.

This book took me a bit by surprise! Usually I’m pretty good at being able to figure out how mystery/thriller books are going to play out, but I really did not see this ending coming. I think because I couldn’t predict the story as well as I usually could, that made me love this book even more!

One of the aspects I liked most about 214 Palmer Street, was that it was told from multiple perspectives. It was obvious who most of the perspectives belonged to, all except one. That one person who was left unknown for the majority of the book, made the story even more intriguing, and I found myself trying to guess multiple times who they were (I did eventually guess right, just before the speaker revealed themself)!

The plot itself was very different than anything I’ve read before. I really liked the idea, and it held my attention to make me want to continue reading on. I can definitely see this book being turned into a movie someday!

As for the writing style, I really enjoyed Karen McQuestion’s writing and will definitely be reading more of her books in the future.

Overall, this would be 4/5 stars for me! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a quick read, and a great psychological thriller/mystery book.

This is the first book I read from this author and the premise was very intriguing. However after only a few chapters the story became predictable and the plot twists didn’t surprise me. Some of the characters decisions and actions were not believable and it dragged the story down to me.

How well do we really know those closest to us? When Sarah appears to have the perfect husband but after being brutally attacked, she knows deep down there is something not quite right. Are her intuitions to be trusted or a result of her brain injury? Sarah goes on a quest to uncover the darkest secrets of her husband, Kirk's, past but doesn't know whether he is as innocent as he seems. This is one of those books which made me suspect every character and continually guess who was telling the truth. An easy read with characters which are easily relatable. Immensely enjoyed from the first to the last page.
