I was given an advance copy in exchange for a review...I will admit I wasn’t drawn into the story like I was her other stories. For that I felt disappointment. This was easily a stand alone even if you had read others. The best I can describe it as nobody puts baby in the corner and her knight comes to save her showing everyone they do belong together, mashed up with the godmother from Cinderella to find proper grooms for these other unseen, beautiful, intelligent wallflowers. Lillian’s knight came as the ton was not enjoying her kind there. In comes Lord Devon to the rescue and to knock down the father of Lillian’s friend a peg or two, head of the ton Devon plans to marry this woman. He will have his coffee house to tend she (now being a part of the ton) will have the wallflowers to match with eligible suitors. I definitely will continue to devour Charley Lane’s books. I would still recommend to everyone who needs a good historical fiction. Thanks to #NetGalley, #WolfPublishing and #CharleyLane, and #KissorDare for giving me this great opportunity.i

This was absolutely so much fun to read! I truly enjoyed their dynamics and the total flow of the story. You know this is a series but I don’t feel like am missing critical information, it does intrigue me to read the previous story but again can be read as a stand-alone.

I Loved It! Kiss or Dare will hold you captivated from the moment you begin the journey with Lillian and Devon until the very end. Lillian stands on the fringes of society looking in and her one wish is to be seen. Devon has seen himself as only a spare for his family. As the two try to find their own paths they find themselves engaged to one another with the help of Lillian's father. Charlie Lane has written a story that has a great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, sizzling passion, witty and humorous situations, is smoothly written, with a enjoyable plot that will keep you reading from the beginning to the end in this outstanding story!

Charlie Lane never fails to entertain with her sexy Regency romance novels - and Kiss or Dare is lots of fun. The third in her series, The Debutante Dares, It is the story of Lillian Clarke, an inventor's daughter who wants to help other wallflowers like herself, and Lord Devron, a Duke's "spare" who is trying to invent the perfect way to brew coffee as a means to an independent, worthwhile life. Sparks fly (figuratively and literally), and I enjoyed the story!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series and I was waiting for this one.
I really liked the idea of this book, but once I started reading it, it just didn´t work for me. The same happened with the second one in the series, so maybe it’s just me.
I liked Lillian. She’s smart, driven and generous. But her idea to sacrificed her happiness (or the possibility of a happy marriage) to help other wallflowers (who her own friends reminded her had the right to decide for themselves how to live) seemed a bit absurd. Devon is a second son and he is obsessed with the idea of never being a first choice. He lives his life like a spare. But in an unusual choice for his period of time, he doesn´t want to touch his allowance. He wants to invent a coffee machine, patented it and buy a coffee shop with his own money. Of course I’m a sucker for self-made men, but…in this case, once again ABSURD. Is he going to live on the streets with the woman he compromised because he doesn’t want to touch the money he’s entitle to? He thinks like a guy from this century because of that, for me, his decisions are prideful and selfish.
It’s well written, and I’m sure the author wants us to see the beauty in their strengths, they just frustrated me more than anything. There are nice sexy times, smart and funny dialogs and adorable second characters.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Love finding a new author and Charlie Lane has a talent of bringing the characters to life. Lillian has decided she wants more to life than being a Wallflower and has reinvented herself to be an incomparable. She also decided that she had enough of being secretly infatuated with Lord Devon. Lord Devon is rudely awoken by a goddess, but then to the charming flirt of a man, all women are goddesses. Lillian hands the drunken Devon a letter that was delivered for him. The contents of the letter is a rude awakening for Devon and he figures out that the writer is no other than Lillian. So to get even with Lillian he decides to apprentice with her father, a famous inventor and this way he has access to the lovely Lillian.
The story is a little bit Cinderella, enemies to lover, has great banter between the characters. I haven’t read the first 2 books, but they are definitely on my TBR pile. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #KissorDare

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun, held my interest and I wanted to find out what would happen next. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 3 in the The Debutante Dares series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.

I loved Lillian and Devon together!

Wow! What a terrific romance! I loved how they each brought out the truth in the other's hearts. Lillian could see right through Devon, and while that made him uncomfortable at first, eventually he realized it was because she's the only one who really saw him, deep down, beyond the façade he presented to the world.

These two have a lot of chemistry, making it a delight to watch their dancing around propriety and their own insecurities. I loved the playfulness of the storyline, and I adored her father. "Forced marriage" is probably my favorite trope, so that coupled with an intelligent sense of humor made this book a true winner for me.

I've enjoyed all the books in this series so far, and look forward to reading more by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I’ve not read the previous books in this series so my point of view comes treats this novel as a fresh stand-alone type of reader.

We are first introduced to Lord Devon, straight away you can see his sassy personality, some would call him other unpleasant adjectives. For a novel that is based upon the 1800’s I could follow this more easily with what you can tell as modern ease of writing and speaking – not sure what it was exactly like back then but anyway. Miss Lillian Clarke can be quite shy, a wallflower as such however for situations involving other females she does know how to clarify situations with others which I appreciate as her growing as a person.

Situations begin to unfold and I will just use this quote as I enjoyed it a lot: “ When Lillian needs books, she gets books “.

Both main characters can be surprising and Lord Devon’s bad reputation is not all what he seems to be as it’s shown that he is a hard worker who wants to make his own money as he does not see his families money as his own which you got to respect and appreciate a man in that day having that kind of attitude.

I really enjoyed the banter between the two just as the title of the novel comes to show how it got its name. Lillian begins to open up a bit more as the situation between the two changes and Devon grows as a person compared to the title he’s most known by previously.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this novel and going along with Lillian on her adventure. I enjoyed the fairy tale elements and Lillian’s attitude to help wallflowers become more noticed and to help them grow. It was a heart-warming and enjoyable read. Definitely recommend.

Side note: Thank you to the publisher as I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. It is the first book by Charlie Lane that I have read. The story line is has some twists that the reader won't be expecting not just the couple has a misunderstanding and then they are back to happily ever after. But it does still end as usual, with a happily ever after.

This story was one that I found hard to become really interested in and it made it hard for me to finish this book. I had not read the first two books in this series, if I had the story might have been of more interest to me. The characters were quite different than most other Regency romances I have read before. o. The conflict between Lord Devon and Lillian Clarke were interesting at times. It felt like both characters were to self-centered in what they wanted most of the time. However by the end, they both it seemed had begin to think about the other person first instead of their wants and needs.

Funny and lighthearted, the road to success is never easy. Lord Devon is all that is sweet and charming, but behind that charm is the second son of Duke who wants to be a self-made man. Close to his heart is the anonymous letter that listed his faults and was the admiration of a mysterious lady. Only Devon knows the author is Lillian Clarke, daughter of the inventor helping Devon achieve his goal of the perfect coffee pot. If Devon can sell the patent, then he will have his dream of owning a coffee shop. Close proximity in Lillian's father's house, lights the spark between them. Caught by her father kissing, Lillian and Devon are engaged. Lillian has reinvented herself from a wallflower to an incomparable to help other wallflowers. It takes very little gossip to bring everything tumbling down. Only a man in love will sacrifice whatever it takes to make it right.

Kiss or Dare by Charlie Lane is the third book in the Debutante Dares series. Although the book can be read as a stand-alone I do recommend that you read the first two in the series as it is a great way to meet the other characters in the story. But this is definitely the love story of Lillian Clarke and Lord Devon. The story starts with them as frenemies. Lillian has a crush on Lord Devon and sees the potential he seems determined to destroy, but a mysterious letter seems to turn him around, helps him find a purpose.

Fast forward some months and Lord Devon is apprenticing with Lillian’s father who is an inventor. Teasing and banter are just a precursor to the sparks that fly between the characters. Sparks that fly and eventually get them more entangled then they had anticipated. Both have dreams that they want accomplish and they strike a bargain to make it happen. Lillian always sees the potential in Lord Devon and with her love and guidance and a great talk with his brother, he begins to see it as well.

What I loved about this book is that they build a relationship together, with some hiccups, but they come to realize the value that they each have individually and together. I loved the banter between Lillian and Devon and I loved the relationships between the other characters. Lillian’s parents were wonderful and entertaining. Devon’s brother was great as are Lillian’s best friends who were introduced in the earlier books. I recommend this book and the others in the series. They are all entertaining reads.

I received a NetGalley ARC of Kiss or Dare by Charlie Lane and read the book voluntarily.

Lillian Clarke has (slightly improbably) turned herself from wallflower to incomparable since we saw her in the last book, dumping water over Lord Devon and writing him admonishing letters. Meanwhile Devon has hauled himself out of the drink, to design a coffee maker and apprentice with her father who is a famous inventor while also taking time to irritate Lillian at every chance he gets. Devon is a second son and 'spare' and really feels it. Lillian wants to be accepted by the ton so she can help her fellow wallflowers to bloom. It would be easier if she married a dull Viscount but she obviously prefers our coffee obsessed hero... I enjoyed this book, it was cute. And funny. And a tad daft - but in a terribly good-natured way.

Read an ARC from Netgalley.

Lillian is determined to transform herself into a fairy godmother for wallflowers of the ton, meanwhile getting over her massive crush on Lord Devon. Lord Devon is trying to get over the scandal of running off with Lady Jane and trying to make something of himself. He's suddenly an apprentice of sorts to Lillian's inventor father and learning to improve on his beloved coffee drink. He aims to buy a coffee shop, but without any financial help from his duke brother or his own inheritance. Stubborn man.

A new year and a new Season means a new Lillian Clarke. She’s transformed herself from wallflower to incomparable. But she’s no Cinderella. She’s washed her hands of love and of Lord Devon, her own charming prince who barely knew she existed. She’d rather be the fairy godmother, helping invisible debutantes gain the attention they deserve on the marriage mart. But even though she’s booted Lord Devon from her heart, he’s not done with her. His sudden appearance at her home and inexplicable teasing threaten to distract her from her debutante dreams.
Lord Devon, the second son of duke, has put self-pity and scandal behind him and found a new purpose. He’ll invent a machine that improves coffee, buy a coffeehouse, and be a self-made man. He’s determined to be more than the heir’s spare, privileged but kept in case of emergency. Unfortunately, he needs the assistance of Miss Clarke’s brilliant father. And he hates Lillian Clarke for speaking the truth about him. The delectable woman thinks she’s better than him. He’ll teach her she’s not. If he can ignore the way her courage makes him smile.
When sparks in the workshop fly, Lillian and Devon invent a passion that’s more than they bargained for and complicate their paths to happily ever after.
This is a funny story.
Lillian is a funny girl who is just trying to be honest.
Devon is trying not to be in love.
Charlie Lane writes a good romance.
I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

"Kiss or Dare" caught my attention because it looked and sounded like a cute, fluffy romance. Having never read a book by Charlie Lane, I wasn't sure what to expect. This book centers around Lillian Clarke, who has had a crush on Lord Devon despite his lack of attention. However, once he notices her, he is intrigued and enjoys getting under her skin by purposely annoying her. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two of them, but some parts of the storyline didn't really make sense to me.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
