My book club really enjoyed this guide! The questions sparked good conversation, and we loved reading the interview with the author. The bookmarks are so pretty and we added a few other books to our list from the suggested reading list.
The Firekeeper's Daughter is one of my favorite reads and I wish I would have had this Book Club Kit back when I originally read it. The letter from the author is deeply moving and really gives insight as to the why she wrote this story.
The list of books by indigenous authors inspired me to move up a few that had been on my TBR for awhile. I really appreciated the resources and information on how we can help indigenous communities. My only complaint is that there was not more from the author. Like in other We Are Bookish book club kits, I really would have enjoyed the author's answers to some of the guided discussion questions. But overall, I really enjoyed how much this kit added to the reading experience of this novel.
This was such a helpful reading guide! I always enjoy a good content warnings page because it helps prepare me for triggers.
I also really enjoyed reading interviews with authors because it helps me get to know the artist behind the art. The different book club questions were very thought provoking and fun to go through and I can only hope to find more reading kits like this!
I also love the additional resources and recommendations given at the end. Overall, it was a great reading kit! Pick this up to help you dig deeper into the story! Happy reading!
I am seriously OBSESSED with this book club kit!!! It has author interview pages, discussion question pages, good ideas, read next ideas, games…. So many fun things to use with the book!! The bookmarks are so incredibly gorgeous!
Thank you We Are Bookish! This is an amazing book club kit! I love all the bonus content! You thought of it all!
I love these Book Club Kits and especially the ones that include an interview with the author. I am impressed with how well thought out these book club kits are. They always include really great extras, like the videos and the bookmarks. I think they're a great resource for a book club to use. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, and I loved how Netgalley began including this in request. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.
Love that there's this to be the companion for the book. While I've yet to have a copy, knowing this is here will make reading it more enjoyable and insightful.
Beautifuly made book club kit and the contents are great! This kit is very helpfull and can be used as guideline for the discussion, the bookmarks are a really nice add-on! I also loved the recommendations at the end for other indigenous authors!
This is a brilliant book club kit. I appreciate the inclusion of content warnings, letter from and interview with the author, and information about supporting indigenous communities.
WOW! From the get-go it was clear the team has gone above and beyond with this resource! Starting right off the bat with an interview from the author brought a tear to my eye. Indigenous voice are so so important and it was a wonderful to see her culture being highlighted so well.
The discussion guide was wonderful to read through. The questions were thoughtful and insightful and also could be used for a variety of age groups. As this book is YA but with heavier content, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate meaningful conversations in an appropriate way, the questions help to guide conversations in a way that would be age appropriate without losing the depth and breadth of the content.
The bookmarks were stunning and are a beautiful add on that I know any book club member will love to receive during a book club meeting!
Having the sections with "what to read next" and "additional resources" were very nice to see. These topics can often be so complex and multi-layered that one book cannot tell the entire story - giving readers a path to follow on their own journey to gain a deeper understand of the indigenous culture was a beautiful and thoughtful touch.
Thank you to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for this book club kit!
I teach this book in a middle school literature class and was hoping this would be helpful. It wasn’t really. Thanks for the effort though.
What a beautiful and well-done book club kit! was really helpful to guide our discussion of the Firekeeper's Daughter. The questions were thought provoking. I appreciated the author interview and the book recommendations for other works written by indigenous people. Thank you for the wonderful materials!
I want Netgalley to make these for every book in the world, it's such a nice tool and I really appreciate being able to read words directly from the author.
This has very good information that is very useful. I’m glad there was a list of trigger warnings and resources to call for mental health
Another wonderful book club kit. These kits are really beautiful. I haven't read this book yet, but might do so just to use this kit.
It was great to learn more about the author and about the inspirations behind this novel. I really enjoyed how the discussion focused on multiple identities and how they interact with each other. I loved the printable bookmarks and the inclusion of other indigenous authors to check out next!
This Book Club guide came with great content. Excellent for questions to ask amongst a group or as an individual to get you to think about the reading material. Really enjoyed this extra material. It makes book club planning simple.
this book club kit was an excellent resource and really enhances the experience of reading the book!
This was a book kit that gave me everything I needed to really dive into the book deeper than I would have otherwise.
Thanks first to We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the arc of the Fire Keeper's Daughter Book Club Kit in exchange for my unfettered opinion.
This book club kit includes some beautiful extras to accompany Angeline Boulley's Fire Keeper's Daughter, including printable bookmarks of the gorgeous cover artwork, as well as content warnings, discussion questions, additional reading suggestions, an interview with the author, and more. At 15 pages long, it's a manageable amount of material to share with a book club, and will help spark deeper discussion of the book, its themes, and what it is to be Indigenous in our world. A useful and thoughtful addition to a worthy book club title.
