I love these Book Club Kits and especially the ones that include an interview with the author. I am impressed with how well thought out these book club kits are. They always include really great extras, like the videos and the bookmarks. I think they're a great resource for a book club to use. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, and I loved how Netgalley began including this in request. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.
this is already publish though but I remember giving this a 3 star- a found family trope which I love
I did not mean to download this title but I do not want to mess up my ratio. The premise sounds interesting and the reviews look great but as this is not an ARC I will be reading at a later date. I apologize!
As a huge fan of queer literature, I really appreciate a book club kit being created for this title. I will be actively recommending it to a friend and colleague who runs a queer book club.
I absolutely adore these book kits! I am a regular host for my mom's book club and these book kits have come in so hand, since I have a hard time coming up with fun ideas to make the club meeting smoother since I'm always so tired. While I have personally already read this book, the other women in the meeting have not and I love being able to distribute the author's bio, the interview with the author, and especially the inspiration for the book. All the context really helps. I do wish maybe more discussion questions had been included. I like the sandwich recipe, too, though I ended up not using it since I figured it would be tough to keep everything warm. However, the bookmark was easy to print out on card stock, so that was a fun little goodie to distribute. While I liked this book kit, I have used others that I thought were much more interactive and better for a fun bookclub meeting. So, while the book itself is a 5 star read for me, I do think this kit needed at least one more activity that I could have used with my club. Thanks to NetGalley for this kit!
really useful! i really loved this using this book along with one last stop by casey mcquiston! would definitely recommend
I have never come across a kit like this before but this was really fun! I loved the variety - there were elements in here incorporating all different mediums. I would definitely keep an eye out for other book club kits in the future. My favourite part was probably the ‘further reading’ as it was impactful to provide deeper exploration of themes covered in the original book.
The only negative for me was it seemed a bit ‘salesy’ at points - if I had paid for this resource I don’t think I’d have enjoyed how much it then tried to sell more books to me.
A Huge thank you to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for this Book Club Kit!
There were so many things with One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston thank have been filled in for me. I enjoyed the book when I read it and to have this to be able to share with my book club, such a bonus surprise!!
Thank you, once again
I read this a while back and couldn’t recommend it enough! I love casey McQuiston books so much. it was so cute and so cleverly done. and i really love the representation, you don’t see a lot of authors do stuff like this but knowing Casey is always consistent makes me want to read more
This book club kit is so cute! I love the colors and the discussion questions page. Moreover, it has some adorable printable bookmarks, which I always love. And the fact that it has a recipe is amazing. I am going to be making this sandwich because it looks so yummy!
OMG! It also has a playlist **breath**. I absolutely love when the book has an own playlist recommendation to listen while reading it. Always a must!
The One Last Stop Book Club Kit was an excellent addition to our book club. The author letter and interview made us feel like we had insider/exclusive information on the book that was exciting. The questions provided helped facilitate an amazing book club discussion. I didn’t need the bonus recipe and playlist but can definitely be fun supplements. I found the “further reading” section to be insightful. This kit is excellent for enhancing any book club!
This book club kit is incredible and inspiring! I love that it starts with a letter from the author and questions answered by them, before delving into book club questions. Both absolutely set the tone for the conversation. And the additional books to check out all sounded fantastic; I especially liked the clear way each was connected to an element in One Last Stop. Lastly ending with a recipe and playlist was perfect, leaning into the social element of a book club gathering to make it a well-rounded, cohesive experience. Love!
This was so cool! I loved reading One Last Stop and this guide was so great to rehash the book again! ALSO WE GET A SU SPECIAL RECIPE?? AHHHHH! I will definitely need to make that in the future!
Ich habe mich über das Buch sehr gefreut. Es ist nicht nur fließend zum lesen sondern auch sehr spannend.
I loved the package in total. Although, I would have put the what to read next at the end versus in the middle.
This review is about the Book Club Kit for One Last Stop by Casey Mcquiston. My book club will definitely love this Book Club Kit! It is really beautifully designed and contains everything you could want in a kit. The letter from the author is a great idea and his view of the plot certainly gives you new perspectives. The playlist and the recipe were also great, which of course we have to try at our meeting! We will definitely talk about the discussion questions too. Many thanks to NetGalley for this kit and to everyone else: have fun using it!
I throughly enjoyed this, I belive that Casey's writting style makes it easy to fall in love with the characters and get into thr story. My main issue with the story was August as the protagonist. Her actions often felt too convenient, with events unfolding in ways that seemed overly coincidental—like her never having to do any assignments, her family's connection to Jane's story, and her long absences from work while still managing to pay rent and avoid getting fired. The romance aspect also felt very one-sided, but not in a compelling or unrequited way; it was more uncomfortable, with the dynamic between the dark-skinned Asian woman and the white girl from the South feeling problematic. The narrative framed Jane as entirely dependent on August, with Jane's story being told through August’s perspective. This made Jane seem to lack agency in a story that was supposed to be about her.
This was an amazing collection of prompts for my book club preparation! I wish this was available for more books. We had a blast with the playlist and the crafting of bookmarks.
This book club kit offers great discussion questions and a cool author interview. I love the options for what to read next and also recommendations for further learning about topics in the book. And who doesn’t love a book playlist!?
Casey McQuiston's "One Last Stop" is a heartwarming blend of romance, mystery, and a touch of magic that transports readers into a vibrant, contemporary New York City. With its captivating premise and endearing characters, McQuiston's sophomore novel proves to be a delightful follow-up to her debut success, "Red, White & Royal Blue."
The story centers around August Landry, a 23-year-old who has recently moved to New York City in search of a fresh start. August is a practical, no-nonsense protagonist who has built her life around skepticism and self-reliance, largely as a result of her unconventional upbringing and her mother’s obsession with solving a decades-old cold case. This perspective starts to shift when she meets Jane Su, a mysterious and strikingly charismatic woman on the Q train.
Jane, as August soon discovers, is not just any regular commuter. She’s a time traveler from the 1970s, stuck on the subway and unable to find her way back to her original timeline. As August becomes increasingly enamored with Jane, she’s drawn into the mystery of Jane’s past and the quest to set her free from her temporal predicament. The narrative weaves through themes of love, identity, and the concept of home, making readers question what it means to truly belong.
McQuiston’s writing is engaging and full of wit, with a rich cast of supporting characters that add depth and humor to the story. The found family trope is beautifully executed. Each character is lovingly crafted, with distinct personalities that bring warmth and authenticity to the narrative.
One of the standout features of "One Last Stop" is its vivid setting. McQuiston paints a lively picture of New York City, from the eclectic neighborhoods to the bustling energy of the subway. This sense of place adds a layer of immersion, making readers feel as though they’re right there with August and Jane, navigating the city’s complexities and charms.
While the novel’s pacing can occasionally feel uneven, with certain plot points taking longer to unfold than others, the overall journey is satisfying and emotionally resonant. McQuiston’s ability to blend humor, romance, and a touch of the supernatural creates a unique reading experience that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.
In conclusion, "One Last Stop" is a delightful and heartfelt novel that showcases Casey McQuiston’s talent for crafting compelling, character-driven stories. It’s a celebration of love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, and self-love—and a testament to the idea that sometimes, the most extraordinary things can happen in the most ordinary places. Whether you’re a fan of romance, time travel, or simply looking for a feel-good read, "One Last Stop" is a book that will leave you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
