This brilliant bookclub kit to accompany the amazing One Last Stop is a wonderul resource. Full of chat ideas, insights into the author's mind, and loads of other wee snippets, I think it's absolutely great. I'd love to see lots more of these kits. thanks team!
This book club kit contains author interview Q&A, 10 discussion questions, book recommendations, printable bookmarks, recipe for the SU speical, and book playlist for One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. Great for book clubs and discussion groups.
Another fab kit. Again a book I didn't know before I saw the kit and ph I'm so glad I found it. I loved the authors interview and bookmarks and I cannot wait to read more of the author.
I read this for the author interview, and it did not disappoint. These book kits come with a reliable set of components—interview, discussion questions, bookmarks, recipe, suggestions for further reading, etc.—leaving a little bit of something for everybody (the recipes will probably always make my eyes glaze over, but they'll be inspiration for others—and in this case, the photo of the finished "Su Special" was a nice touch).
But back to the author interview: I've said of other kits that I prefer interviews with someone other than the author (editor, publisher, etc.), whose perspective I'm less likely to be able to find elsewhere but...I'm going to eat my words, if not the Su Special. What I've loved so much about McQuiston's books is how *different* each one is—each smart and meticulously researched, but with wildly divergent plots and settings. I love knowing that the next book will be unputdownable but not having a clue beyond that...so it's pretty great to get to peek more directly inside McQuiston's brain for a moment. (I particularly love that the interviewer asked what discussion questions McQuiston would include for book clubs—definitely an interview question I'd like to see used more often.)
I've said it before and will say it again, but these are useful kits for not just book clubs but anyone wanting some food for thought for essay-writing...or for overthinking and review-writing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a free copy of this book club kit.
This was a super cute book kit. Looooved the bookmarks and the recipe. Plus I have to say I really like books that have soundtracks. Thanks!
4.5/5
Great book kit! Between the recipes, playlist and question there really isn’t anything else that you might need to host your club.
this was a very enjoyable kit it created great discussion questions and was a great way to get readers thinking more deeply about the book Some of the coolest features of this kit were the author interview, questions for discussion, and a bunch of other extra eg the playlist. I think this book kit is great and it enhanced the experience of the story so much for me.
Thank you to everyone involved for the book club kit! It’s super useful and well done. Every book club should use it!
It was a bit slow paced for me but nonetheless loved the mystery aspect of it and the punk refrences were amazing I think It could’ve been more inclusive. The weird quirky new york city roommates set a nice tone to the setting which was cute.
Great kit to use for your book club or to get a conversation going with a bookish friend! Used this kit for a discussion with a few bookish friends read along!
Loved the book and this book club kit has great discussion questions and ways to make a book club a special night with recipes, music, and goodies. Thanks for the peek at the book club kit!
This is a really great Book Club Kit, the little bookmarks,... The whole thing is so colorful and fun!
If this isn’t the coolest thing out there. I could definitely vibe to this for more books in the future. Super cute and helpful when reading One last Stop.
This is so cool and I’m saving it for when I read one last stop, I’m so excited. Loved all the added details and playlists, love this even if you’re not using it for book club! (From NetGalley)
This is a cool book to compliment the reading of One Last Stop. It has an author interview, questions for discussion, and a bunch of other extras. A must for group reading or for those who want to delve deeper into this book.!
My book club loved this kit. We all were super fascinated with the idea of making the subway such a magical and interesting place so it was great to read the author's letter and get their perspective on what into their book. The discussion questions were very insightful as well, and it was helpful to unpack the complexities of being a person of color, part of the queer community, and finding family. My favorite thing about this kit, however, was The Su Special. It is SO good. I highly recommend people try that recipe out. It's now my go to sandwich. This cover is one of my favorites so it would have been nice to hear more about the artist that worked on it and the thoughts that went behind it, but overall this book club kit was super fun!
This is the first Book Club Kit I've looked at from We Are Bookish, and it is fantastic! I loved One Last Stop, and this kit is perfect for providing insights from the author and questions for your book club discussion. I also enjoyed the book recommendations and additional resources for further reading, and the playlist is a fun way to revisit moments from the book. This is a great resource and I'll be checking out more book club kits!
This kit came in handy in my book club buddy read of one last stop. The questions were helpful in having discussions around the theme of the book and which helped in an analytical reasoning and bringing in different perspective for the book and about sapphic literature in general.
I loved One Last Stop and love the use of book club kits to enhance the conversations surrounding some of our favourite books. I find without these types of kits the conversation can often go astray so its nice to have something to follow and aid the conversation.
This kit starts with a letter from Casey McQuiston, where they discuss what caused them to write this book and inspire this beautiful story. (I also love the content warnings, more books need to include these). The discussion questions were insightful and would lead to active conversations. The addition of the Su special recipe was an excellent touch (as well as McQuiston's photo)! There was so much talk about this sandwich in the book so this recipe would be great to make for a book club meeting! Plus it sounds phenomenal! And who DOESNT love a book playlist!
I wanted to get a feel for We Are Bookish' book club kits in general to see what they are all about. I decided to use the kit for One Last Stop as it was the only kit they had available for a book I had already read. The visual design of this kit is stunning and there is a lot of great content, from an interview with the author to recipes for foods that feature heavily in the book. The variety of content in this book club kit is what makes it stand out from other pre-made kits out there. While I don't envision myself using this specific kit in the near future, I am impressed by the quality and will look here when I start planning my bookclubs for the spring :)
