Helpful! Author interview was interesting and I appreciated the little extra goodies like the recipe and the playlist.
This kit gives some wonderful insight into the authors process. It starts off with an author's letter where she talks about her inspiration for the book, and then goes into a q&a. I loved how it talked about the found family aspect as that was my personal favourite part in the book.
The rest of the kit is 10 discussion suggestions, some further reading suggestions (I wish there were more of these!) Some recipes which I thought were cute, and a playlist which I loved!
Another brilliant kit for any book club to use.
I appreciated the small author tidbits, recipe, future book suggestions. There is a small glimpse into the creation of the why of her characters, mentions of on-page and off-page themes, but I wished there were more questions to use with a book club. The ones suggested were good, just wish there were more. It is a good tool for book clubs, albeit short,
This kit includes everything you need for book club, and then some.
I have not seen trigger warnings in other Book Club kits I have read recently, and it strikes me as so thoughtful and inclusive. Things that I may not even think to vet may impact someone else in a very negative way, and I appreciate someone thinking of it for me. This is especially important in a book club setting, when maybe some of the group are friends of friends and you don’t know them so well yet.
When you get together with your book club, you’re going to want a playlist and some treats for the coffee table, this kit has you covered but I hope you like maple syrup and hot sauce.
You also get set up with some author backstory, insightful discussion questions, book marks, and some suggestions for follow up reading or new LGBTQ+ stories. A full page of the suggestions are from the same publisher, all of the books have colourful and inviting covers to entice readers to continue consuming literature from St. Martin’s Griffin.
What a fantastic book club kit. I look forward to using it on Tiktok live to have a discussion of the book with friends
Thanks to net galley for providing me with this
This book club kit was amazing. I loved getting insight to everything and it was fin to read
So useful! I will use it on my Instagram for sure ;) thank you guys! I would love to see more of them happening. They are also a great example of how to do it so I can try myself.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an eARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I think that this book club kit is a great way to encourage and engage in meaningful conversations surrounding the topics of this book. The list of triggers/content warnings seem really thought out and touch on ones that I feel are often overlooked in other lists. (Great job to whoever put this together!)
I especially liked the additional information like book recommendations for other LGBTQIA+ books/authors, the author letter and interview, printable bookmarks, playlist, and the famous Su Special sandwich recipe. The only thing I wish was included is a list of some LGBTQIA+ foundations, organizations, and resources that could be useful to those who might need help now or in the future.
I would definitely recommend this for further reading after the novel and for book clubs/buddy reads.
Book Club Kit: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston is a fun addition once you've read One Last Stop to further engage in the story. This kit includes discussion questions to consider with a book club or individually, a conversation with the author, and suggested reading for after the novel. This is the perfect kit to enhance the reader's overall experience.
I found this super helpful after I finished the novel.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
After finishing One Last Stop, reviewing the content in this book club kit was such a fun expansion to the initial world with author interviews, a cute recipe, immersive questions, and more!
After receiving this kit I can’t wait to try it with one of my 3 book clubs in the future and can see this being an excellent supplemental tool for audience of all ages looking to discuss One Last Stop in greater details!
I loved this book and the companion Book Club Kit was a great addition to our book club discussion. It made it much more fun and interesting!!
Omg! This was my first book club kit. I enjoyed One last stop. So I had to get the book club kit as well. Loved those printable bookmarks and author interview.
This is a really fun selection of resources, thank you for creating it! My book club read One Last Stop last summer, although we have already had our discussion the interview and other resources will still be of interest.
Another cute book club kit by "We Are Bookish". I do appreciate all the effort and care they put into these book club kits, but I have noticed that some seem to get a bit more in the extras department than others. Overall, I do think this is a great resource for a book club, and I like the extra tie-ins.
This kit is really great and really helpful. We will definitely be using it in our future book club meet. We are very excited to read this book. We all agreed immediately on this one and this kit is so useful for our meet now. Thanks so much!
This kit was great! I loved the interview with McQuiston - the questions asked were solid and didn't give too much away about the book (if people were reading the interview before their meeting). It was especially practical to have McQuiston's recommended further readings with explanations for each. One thing that might be neat to add in future kits for books like these are a facts/timeline page? One Last Stop heavily references historical events and it would be useful to have those lined out in the kit with quick historical facts as well.
One Last Stop follows August as he migrated to New York City for a fresh start. After that, she meets Jane. Jane is an enigma. In a literal sense. Jane is trapped on the subway with no way out, and August must help her find her way back to the 1970s. The more time they spend together, though, the closer they get, and August's minor train crush deepens.
This book is funny and heartwarming, the writing adding humor and relatability to each moment. Like Casey McQuiston’s first book, there’s plenty of quotable moments, and I feel that their writing has definitely developed even more since Red, White and Royal Blue.
This book will keep you engrossed. It did took me about 50-80 pages to truly immerse myself, but once there, I couldn't put it down. One Last Stop is completely engrossing, from the mystery to the romance.
August is a fantastic character with a fantastic adventure, and Jane is the ideal love partner for her. Their connection is incredible, and they bring out the best in each other. They are both truly imperfect, yet in horribly familiar ways. And what about their relationship? Adorable. But they aren't the only two people in this novel, and I have to admit that I would read a book about every single one of them. They were all so well-crafted, sophisticated, and one-of-a-kind. And the fact that the core buddy circle is so diverse made me very thrilled!
This book club kit was overall lots of fun!! I really enjoyed reading the authors interview and I think the book club questions would be good for a book club setting. I wasn't really a fan of what books were suggested for read next specifically in the fiction category--I just feel like there are many better queer books out there in the romance genre. However, lots of fun besides that!!
I loved this Book Club Kit! It includes some fun activities, such as an author interview, recipe, and printable bookmarks. It definitely enhances the story in my opinion and I recommend it to people or book club's reading One Last Stop.
I loved the book kit because expands my experience reading One Last Stop, the three things I liked most about the book club kit was: the playlist (discovering new songs and artists is a must), the recipe, and the book recommendations, because frequently I want books with a specific vibe or that would make me have the same joy I had reading another book.
