A feel-good story of unlikely friendships and community. Easy to read and enjoyable if a little predictable.
Daniel returns to Cornwall following the death of his grandma to organise the renovation and sale of her home. He meets Hazel - his feisty 80 year old neighbour - and an unlikely friendship begins. He starts a slow walking club and learns about his real grandma from his neighbour. He is forced to slow down and appreciate the local community and environment. He meets Jess and starts a new friendship but will either risk more. Before he can learn more about Jess - three of his past work colleagues appear on this doorstep and he is forced to question his past relationships and work out what he wants from his future.
A gentle read - one I will be recommending.

In this book we meet some amazing characters. We meet Daniel who has recently lost his job a d returned to his hometown in Cornwall with too much time on his hands, Daniel needs to find something to do to keep him busy and so he sets up a new walking club. The lovely Hazel who is a widow in her 80s who is looking for some more adventure in her life, and so decides to join the group. Daniel is disappointed that Hazel is the only person who has joined his group. But appearances can be deceiving and Hazel ends up being one of the most fascinating and one of the most important people Daniel has and will ever meet.
I loved this book, the friendship between Hazel and Daniel was really heartwarming, it's like a great big hug in book form, the book everyone needs at this time.
I read this book when I was unwell with Covid and feeling very sorry for myself and it was the perfect tonic. Such an uplifting and all round brilliant read. The Slow Lane Walkers Club is set in glorious Cornwall, which I really loved, alongside the characters and storyline. If you are looking for a heartwarming, uplifting novel this one is for you.
