Really intriguing, great sample, and i'm very curious about what's going to happen next. It's starts really chill and then, BAM, something happens and i am hooked. I'll defintely buy the book, i need to know how this mess the characters are in it's going to end.

Enthralling opening sampler that really whets the appetite for the full novel which I intend to read next.
Can’t wait.

I’m so excited to purchase this book now after reading a chapter sampler.
Always love supporting Irish authors.

An absolutely awesome thriller, so tense I kept holding my breath and almost asphyxiating. Thank God some wise souls talked Adrian out of quitting his writing career. He just keeps getting better and better.
The setting, just ten miles from Melbourne in one of the most civilized countries in the modern world, really did emphasize the violence and brutality of both the hunters and the hunted.
The best book I have read in a month of Sundays.

This was just a sampler of the beginning chapters, but so far it doesn’t disappoint. I’m definitely going to get the full book based off of what I have read in this teaser.
From what I have read, this is going to be a great book.

This is just a sampler but there's enough here to make you want to read on...when it's published! Potential to be a summer blockbuster!

Excellent start to the book. Definitely wouldn’t want to be stuck on this island!
Look forward to reading more of this book in the future.

I didn't love McKinty's previous hit book, The Chain, so I thought sampling his latest would be a good plan before fulling committing to a full read.
The Island opens in the outback of Australia, following a 44yo doctor, his 24yo new wife, and his 2 tween children as they travel through the country while there for his work conference. They make the poor choice of accompanying a bunch of random locals to their remote private island in order to see some native animals, and a tragic, split-second accident puts them in grave danger.
The sample ends on quite the cliffhanger and totally sucked me in. I was compelled to snag the full ARC so I could keep reading. I'm hooked!

This is a chapter sampler.
The story sounds extremely intriguing, with Heather, her husband Tom, and his two kids, Olivia and Owen, travelling from America to Australia for a conference. But a turn of events makes the trip a nightmare.

This was just a teaser sample but I was fortunate to also get the full version so putting my review on there.

I NEED MORE!! I LOVE THIS AUTHOR AND THIS IS JUST TEASING!!! CANNOT WAIT TO GET LOST IN THIS ONE.. WELL WRITTEN AND ENGAGING IMMEDIATELY

Lovely! Glad to have an insight into this book and I must say - I am hooked!
I am very curious and not sure if the excerpt is enough! :)

I loved the opening chapters, full of suspense and intrigue so now I'm straight on to the full version. many thanks to NetGalley and Orion for the sampler I am raring to go on the finished book as I am desperate to find out what happens !

The scene is immediately set, you know you’re in Australia with the mentions of eucalyptus and the character called Jacko so my brain was automatically narrating it in an Aussie accent (until we learn that Heather etc are American and are visitors).
I felt like this was a bit like one of those horror movies where the teenagers end up somewhere deserted and trouble ensues, like wrong turn or Texas chainsaw massacre. I’m not sure how believable it is that someone who had kids in the car would literally just move a body and drive off, like you’re expecting kids to keep secret the fact you unintentionally killed someone? But ignoring that it certainly created a sense of impending doom and I’m intrigued about what happens.

I really enjoyed this one but it’s a shame I only got to read a few chapters before it ended!
Heather is married to a doctor who was recently widowed and was left with two children a teenage girl and a son.
Tom her husband is called to a conference in Australia, and the family take the opportunity to spend some time together. Before the conference Tom and Heather take the kids out to try and see some Australian wildlife and when this is unsuccessful they stop off for something to eat. A chance meeting with two men leads them on a boat trip to the private Dutch island where they are told they could see some animals there, however Heather begins to feel uneasy and as they make their way back to the boat an accident happens and they are left stranded.
I didn’t manage to get any more and I was really getting in to the story!

This is a sampler of the book - it has the first 5 chapters.
This was a brilliant introduction to the book. It didn't seem like much was going to happen but when it did, it happened with a bang. The fact that it's ended on a cliffhanger makes me more intrigued about what's going to happen next.
Really looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
Thank you to the publisher for this sample.

Superb opening chapters to the much anticipated new standalone thriller The Island from Adrian McKinty. Following a number of questionable decisions, the family at the centre of this opening segment who have traveled from Seattle to Melbourne for a medical conference alongside some sightseeing, manage to put themselves into a highly dangerous situation.
The tension ratchets up so quickly in these early chaptes that I cannot wait to read this novel in its entirety.

Heather and Tom are on vacation from the USA with their two children in Australia. Tom is also here for a conference. The children are bored and longing to see wildlife. So, while on their travels they meet Matt and Jacko who live on a private island full of wildlife. So, they pay them to go onto the island. But when they get onto the island things don’t go as planned and they are stopped on the ferry back to the mainland.
Thank you, Orion, for a sampler of the Island by Adrian McKinty. I have heard good things about this author. This is an intriguing storyline based around the Australian bush, great descriptions of the wildlife and left with gripping cliff-hanger I can’t wait to read more to see what happens. 4 stars from me.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of the first chapter.
I loved Adrian McKinty's The Chain and this looks to be following in the same vein of high quality thriller.
How do you end up on a n almost lawless Island away from the Australian mainland? What will you do to survive?
I will be buying the full book went it comes out as it is not going to disappoint.

I was sad that this is just a sampler of this book because it sounds really good and I look forward to reading the rest of it when it is released.
