Lexi Graves has a secret from her friends and family, her dad was a serial killer and now someone is out to kill her. Great premise that pulled me in but I was quite disappointed. It lacked punch and grit for me. I so wanted to love it but sadly it wasn’t for me. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Lexi Jakes thought she could run from her past. But when she finds her biological mother strangled with a red silk scarf and a chess piece, she knows her past has come to haunt her back. Born Alexandra Graves, Lexi Jakes is the daughter of the world famous serial killer who used to strangle women with his signature red scarf and holding a chess piece, one which would symbolize how important the kill was, pawn being the lowest. Now since her father is in jail, and a copy cat killer on the lose, she knows she needs to do anything to save herself and more importantly her daughter.

Oh my my this book wow. I love the storyline. The plot is so interesting that I knew this would be a great book. Each character has such an important part to play in the book and are interwoven in the story so well!! and omg maggie!!!!! The story is told in chapters of the serial killer and Lexi. Since you don't know the serial killer, when you read their point of view your excitedly trying to guess who could it be?? There aren't that many books with the serial killer having a POV so you finally see how a they thinks and that their partially deranged. The book was honestly a little slow and not that gripping. There were way too many unnecessary paragraphs of too long descriptions which kind of slowed down the story and reduced the thrill of the story overall. I know the author tried to include little tiny bits of information every few chapters regarding the identity of serial killer but honestly it made it easy to guess, actually after 40% of the book when there is more parts of the killer in the story. Which also made the end fall a little flat. Also I liked the romance love triangle element and it matched to the story, but I felt it wasn't written that well.

Nope. Not my cup of tea. Too much purple prose. Repetitive. I could not get into the story or bond with the characters. Very disappointing.

This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. This is a book of horror and mystery...murder...a serial killer's daughter...what a legacy she has...awful...this story is difficult to read, at times, but it is also difficult to put down. Red herrings...friendship...love...marriage...running from threats...hiding...family dynamics...this is an unusual book written by a gifted author...

The title, blurb and the start for the book are very interesting. I really had high expectations for this. It is too plain for a thriller. There are a lot of scenes which are not even related to the actual plot. With story going nowhere, this book seemed too long and too slow. There aren't many twists or turns. There are many characters but no character have some importance other than Lexi.

Maybe I would have liked it if it is shorter with same plot or it is made interesting with some twists or turns. Anyways it is what it is and I am a little disappointed.

Thank you netgalley and Boldwood books for providing me with ARC.

The Serial Killer's Girl
by L. H. Stacey

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book!
Just did not enjoy it. It was just off . DNF

It could not keep me engaged after 25% of the book. The plot seemed to move very slow for my liking. The descriptions seem too much detailed and nearly 6 to 10 sentences are used which tell us about the same thing.
I DNFed it
I thank NetGalley for the ARC copy of the book.

This book held so much promise but unfortunately for me it did not deliver. A predictable read which did not hold my interest. Saying that I am sure other readers will enjoy it more just not for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book and couldn't wait to get started. This is the 1st book I've ever not been able to finish. The style of writing and the lack of full stops was driving me insane. The sentences are so run on with about 13 commas in them and yet at the same time, theyre never saying very much!! There are just so many words..... and so little said!! I did love the plot and thought it sounded really good but it's not my style of writing. It is ridiculously predictable and for example, by chapter 4, the antagonist is literally standing in the moonlight, cackling out loud as the protagonist drives off....... its that clichéd and obvious. Not for me shall we say.

Lexi has a troubled past and has done everything within her power to keep it a secret. When it looks as though her past is about to catch up with her, she decides action must be taken to protect both herself and her two year old daughter, Isla.

The premise of this book was good, and I looked forward to reading it. Half way through I decided to check out other reviews as I was intrigued due to how bad I thought that this book was. The majority of the other reviews were of the the same opinion that I had formed. Badly written, repetitive prose, a story with many loopholes, narrative that jumped about all over the place, and a baddie who was so obvious that they came with flashing lights.

I hate to give such a bad review, but I was asked for an honest opinion, and this is it.

1.5* rounded up to 2*.

Thank you NetGalley.

I liked it. If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller, this is for you. Fairly predictable, therefore not super scary (I’m a huge chicken about stuff like that, so I didn’t mind, but if you like more twists, this may not be the book for you. Lexi is a fine MC and the dual POV format allows you to get in the villain’s head as well.

I’d recommend it if you’d like a thriller, but not one that is scary. Quality suspense.

Lexi Jakes is running from her past. She just wants to forget that her father is a convicted Serial killer and live a normal life. After the shocking death of her mother, Lexi realizes that as mush a you try, the past always catches up. At the crime scene it is revealed that the killer has used the exact same MO as her father. Now Lexi realizes she might be next.

This book started off strong, but it fell flat for me somewhere along the way. I think some added dialogue and varied sentence structure would’ve helped push it along a bit more. I also was able to unravel the plot twists very early on so I think it also needed a bit of a slower reveal and less in your face clues.

I did like the overall idea and premise which is what drew me to this book originally and that still rings true!

I love a good serial killer book. Sadly, for me, this was not. I think I mentally gave up on it before the prologue was over. Too many needless words and not enough very much needed periods. Two stars because the premise intrigued me enough to get the book in the first place. I just wish it was one that I had enjoyed reading

For the first time, in a very long time, I am disheartened to say that I did not finish a book. I really did try, getting as far as Chapter 7.

The premise behind this story was sound and full of promise. However, the narrative was so repetitive and heavy handed, replete with extraneous detail, that I was questioning my ability to continue by the second chapter.

If you have read and enjoyed this book, please let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you to @netgalley & @bookandtonic for the eARC.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was a quick read and often felt tense and scary, just what you want out of a thriller. However, overall the story fell flat for me. I think the author has lovely prose and can really paint a picture of the scene but a lot of it felt disconnected from one moment to the next. I did still enjoy the story.

This one held a lot of promise but fell flat. There weren't any characters I felt invested in. The plot became predictable. I honestly skipped the majority of the middle of the book and didn't feel lost at all. I was curious to see how it was wrapped up. It wasn't satisfying.

Lexi Jakes is still running from the past. When her mother is found dead, strangled with a red scarf, Lexi knows that her worst nightmare has come true because it has the hallmarks of her own father, the serial killer, Peter Graves. Now she must do all she can to protect her family and her own daughter.

I enjoyed the premise of this novel and parts really drew me in. I do love a serial killer novel. That said, the writing was choppy, jumping from one point to the next, leaving holes without explanation. Unfortunately, the story didn't seem realistic in portraying the relationships and actions of the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this gifted advance copy.

Lexi, formerly Alexandra, daughter of a famous serial killer, is grown up, now a journalist with a family of her own after having been raised by loving foster parents. On the anniversary of her father's arrest, a copycat killer murders her biological mother in the same way as her father's victims were killed. Lexi panics, thinking she is surely next. This was a quick read and not bad, but I didn't love it. Lexi was not all that likeable to me. 3 stars.

2 stars⭐️⭐️

Living with a new identity, Lexi Jakes thought she had outrun her past. But when her biological mother is found dead, Lexi realizes that her worst nightmare is coming true. The murder scene resembles the style of infamous serial killer Peter Graves, who just so happens to be Lexi’s father. However, her daddy is in jail... so who is mimicking his style, and is Lexi next?

This book fell flat for me. I just read it a week ago and I’m struggling to remember what happened… which I think speaks for itself.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, however I did not finish this book.
The plot was something that I felt like I have read so many times before. That paired with the long unnecessary chapters made it hard to get through.
