Cute, but it was difficult to read sometimes.
I liked the character design. The story was intresting.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was very inclusive and a really interesting story. It ended with a cliff hanger so I'm really looking forward to reading issue 2.
Oh, okay well I actually enjoyed this.
An all back and white layout similar to a traditional comic.
An easy quick read following Davey and his friends trying to discover more about a mysterious blue amber necklace with seemingly magical powers. On there mini journey of discovery I also found myself researching just as they had and was pleasantly surprised to find out some interesting subject matter raised in the comic.
One character Nick was oh so annoying but the fact I was given this impression goes to show the personalities of each character shone through.
The cliffhanger at the end...I need the next installment now!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an eARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I feel like this graphic novel was convoluted while simultaneously lacking in plot, entertainment, and enjoyment. I do however, like the diverse cast of characters and the idea of the story. Sadly, I just don’t think that it was executed well and as other reviewers have mentioned, it feels like we were dropped into the middle of a story instead of the beginning.
This was labelled as a single issue, so I get it being short, but nothing particularly compelling happened in this comic. Nor did it provide anything interesting to look at while reading. I appreciate the diverse cast, but I found the translating of very basic Spanish to be distracting. It pulled us out of the already low engaging story for words that were either fairly common knowledge or could be intuited by context. Overall, there was nothing that would really push me to read a followup.
First in a new series, this pulls you in from the start.
In a colour pallet of black and white, with thick clear illustrations, this reads like a classic comic book layout.
Short and sweet, with enough intrigue to carry you over to the next book, we follow David and his friends as they try to discover the origin of a mysterious amulet.
Ending on a cliff hanger I am eager for part 2 in this series.
This graphic novel has a good base idea. The description sounded really interesting the the first issue is hard to follow. I thought perhaps this was a preview of some kind as it felt like there were pages missing that threw off the flow. It's hard to explain but it kind of feels like its jumping around and not really explaining much of anything despite things happening in the panels. I think it could be an interesting tale if fleshed out with some more detail and break down added in to help it all flow better and pull the reader in to the story.
I found it really hard to get into this story. When I started I already felt like I'd mixed half of it and didn't have any idea what was going on.
The text didn't flow or make sense in and areas, therefore it made it hard to know what was going on and who was replying to who.
Overall just a confusing comic, that didn't flow or make much sense and if written better could have been a really good story.
I did like the characters and their personalities, despite what they said making no sense .
