This is a page turner. It is well written. It has great character development. It is both true to life and dystopian. An enjoyable read
I thought this book was extremely well written. The atmosphere of tension and suspicion creates a gripping storyline that had me questioning everything I thought I knew about this book. At no point, could I have predicted the ending. The author has created a well developed plot line, filled with well developed characters.
A fantastic book that I really enjoyed.
This is the story of what happens to lives when everything they own is taken away from them.
The world's first category 6 hurricane is about to make landfall. In unprecedented forces that make it difficult to predict as well as its path, nothing is certain, except it will be nothing behind. In anticipation of the entire population of southern Florida evacuating FEMA is constructing mega-shelters in various locations hundreds of miles to the north and the west of the region.
This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
The Displacements

The world's first category 6 hurricane is about to make landfall. It's unprecedented forces make it difficult to predict it's path, but one thing's for certain, it will nothing behind. Nothing.
In anticipation of the entire population of southern Florida evacuating FEMA are constructing mega-shelters in various locations hundreds of miles to the north and the west of the region.
This is the story of what happens to lives when everything they own is taken away from them. Some may make it beyond the chaos in time, if they have the resources, the contacts, the wherewithal. But what about those who don't? How reliant are we on technology? What happens if you can't get your hands on cash? Fuel? Food? Shelter? Phone?
How far does your social class or white privilege get you when your hands are empty and you are desperately in need of the basic items of survival. How much help can others give you when everyone is in the same boat? How ahead is the country in planning for a catastrophic disaster of such proportions? How long will the aid last after the last of the news trucks has departed?
Part disaster movie, part, social model this story asks very tough questions about morals and ethics. It is like a game of SIMs but with real lives. American lives. Highly suspenseful and utterly compelling, I could not put this down. It invaded my sleep and I can't get it out of my mind. This is a thriller in the most gripping way because this is going to happen for real, and very soon.
Are we ready?
Thanks to #netgalley and #headliinebooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
Daphne Larsen-Hall has every reason to believe that her life as an artist in a luxury Miami house with her surgeon husband, Brantley, and their family, will carry on forever.
But Luna - the world's first Category 6 hurricane - changes everything. With Brantley missing in the aftermath of the massive storm, Daphne and their children find themselves in a vast shelter for the displaced a thousand miles from home, their finances abruptly cut off.
As days turn into weeks, the family confronts losses and circumstances they never imagined, and a world that has changed beneath their feet. When tensions in the shelter reach a breaking point, Daphne's resilience is put to the ultimate test as she realises 'normal' will never return - and faces the shocking truths that threaten to tear her family apart once more.
Fabulous read. Once you pick up the book you just can’t put it down… My jaw was locked open… Never did I imagine that ending!
