Oh how I wished I had this book growing up. Actually would still have a place in my home library.
The poetry combined with mindfulness is just a treat for the soul. The bright joyful images are like icing on cake. Such beautiful reminders that you are important and it's okay to take time to check in with yourself. Just a fabulous book filled with tips and encouragement that being you is better then good enough.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who often find it hard to love themselves or to see themselves as a person who deserves to be loved. This book is amazing & is one of the positive highlights of my day today. This is a book I will definitely reread when I am feeling down

I love how it teaches the reader that you have to love yourself first & foremost before even thinking about other people. The self-love is just as important as loving the people you surround yourself with. It even gives you tips & exercises on how to love yourself. That you should also treat yourself with kindness. Don't be to hard on yourself as everyone makes mistakes.

I love how this book teaches you not to judge other people but to say just even to yourself they everyone else is just like you. And just like you they need acceptance, understanding, & love. That you should treat other people the way you want them to treat you.

This book teaches you take everyone & everything is connected to each other. This book also teaches you that nothing last forever & that it is okay to let go of your negative emotions like anger, jealousy. Lastly, it teaches you that it is okay to ask for help from other people. Because asking for help is how you learn to do things. Like how as a small child your parents/guardians helped to learn how to walk, talk, read, write, how to feed yourself, & many more. Asking for help is something I have a hard time of doing.

Most importantly go & have fun out in the world.

This book is really lovely. I love the author’s welcome message where she shared that she received a lot of messages as a child about being kind to others, but none about being kind to herself. What a wonderful reason to write a book for young people. The illustrations in this are beautiful. I love the colors. There are a variety of great messages and exercises in this book. I really feel that this book would be a valuable tool to return to again and again. It could easily become a treasured book in a child or family’s life. I would absolutely recommend this to parents and teachers. I believe it would be worthwhile to read through it once to familiarize yourself with the contents and then be prepared to say, “hey, this situation reminds me of [blank] from Love Your Amazing Self. Let’s look at it and remember what it said.” Or “try the exercise we read about”. I wish I had grown up in a culture where the messages in this book were commonplace and I’m excited that many kids today will!

I loved this book! As children and as adults, it's so important to love yourself. I want to purchase this book for my son's book collection as well as for his classroom. I read this to my son and he loved it too.

This book is a must read for all parents and children! The author teaches about mindfulness and gratitude and how your child is perfect the way they are! This book is also about kindness and magic and has the most gorgeous hippie dippie illustrations!

This is a vibrant, well thought out book for any age of child really. I know my 9 year old would love it and my 6 year old would also get a lot out of it. Lots of great tips and advice to help navigate life and provide skills that can be used throughout life.

Quick, chirpy and pleasant to the eye. This book is a pick-me-up everyday and get going kinda affirmations, to make you live and learn and love everything about yourself. From how to respond, to how you react, it gives you a lovely way to make you stay, reading away! Rhyming caught me loving it more and more. I was into rhyming and wording in my school days and poems were so much more a big thing to me. A quick read that will make you smile.

Thankyou for this ARC

This is a good one to have on your shelf to brighten moods!

This poetry collection is all about self-love, kindness, and resilience. Wonderful book great for both kids and adults with an uplifting message and plenty of affirmations.

Everyone should know about these messages

I read it out loud with my nephews 6/4 years old.
As I’m sure a lot of it went over theirs heads they learned some new words and was receptive to the positivity.

It tackles the topics of handling difficult emotions and even death, in a way that I think is easier to grasp for the kids and a optimistic reminder for us adults too!

I think sometimes even adults could use some of the info and advice given in this book. The colors were bright, engaging, and the text was also really easy to read. Interbeing, self-care, and life and death were all dealt with in this book. I did skip over the text that was too small and all on one page, so I think just the colors and the large fonts would keep the text more engaging. Awesome book! Would like to add this to my library collection at my elementary school.

I really like that the author tells readers why they should do something, not just tells them what to do with no explanation. Everyone who reads this will appreciate knowing how an action will help them (e.g. writing a "grateful for" list and knowing how it will make life better). The text is very uplifting, motivating, and interactive. It also has interesting rhyming and big words with definitions. It also helps readers understand emotions and mental health. People of all ages will learn something from this book that will make their everyday lives better.

This book is a quick read and a nice little gem for ages 7 years old and up. It is not just for young kids, but teenagers, young adults, and adults would be well served by picking up a copy.

Unfortunately, the world we live in tries to assign us scripts, to dictate what we are or should be, beats us down when we fail and rarely lifts us up. When we look at the political and social unrest across our country, the wars raging across the globe in one fashion or another, it is hard to look at life in a positive way and very easy to lose yourself.

The author in lyrical verses and steeped wisdom reminds us that we should look inward first and not let the outside world get too close. That we can empower ourselves to think the positive about who we are and what we are. We are unique creations of the Universe and kids need to know that no matter the color of their skin, social or economic background, who their parents are - single, same sex, grandparents stepping into the role of parents, etc., that they are special. That as the writer states, to be true to themselves, to stand up for love and kindness, to not go it alone, to learn and grow, and by doing these things and many more positives that the book outlines they will realize they are indeed amazing. And us adults need to do the same.

An inspirational collection about kindness (especially to yourself), gratitude and self-love. I enjoyed the affirmations, though I did feel like they were more telling than showing. The artwork is loud, vibrant and eye-catching. It might cheer you up but isn’t particularly calming or soothing.

The book does make some good points and is the perfect pick-me-up if you are looking for a boost or in need of motivation.

I enjoyed reading this amazing children’s picture book about self-love and respect. It is imperative for children (and adults) to have a positive self -image to maintain good emotional health and happiness. I appreciate the positive affirmations and the activities in this book to reinforce a positive inner voice.

I enjoyed the combination of mandalas and 1970’s art, they bright, vibrant, cheerful, and encouraging.

The rhyming prose was creative and fun. It lifted my spirits and put me in a cheerful mood.

I can see this book being integrated into a social studies learning module in an elementary or secondary classroom. I think it would improve attitudes, lighten moods, and deepen interpersonal relationships. The book would also be a nice addition to any household

I can also imagine that even high school students and adults could use the concepts and activities in this book to improve their self-esteem. I’m planning to check the possibility of sharing similar activities with adults in assisted living situations, Alzheimer’s patients, and Bible Study groups. Maybe you could too!

One of my many favorite phrases in this book is: “Everything about you is what makes you special. Remember to speak kindly to yourself the same way you speak to people you love.” I am grateful for this book as I feel the message will make the world a better place, one reader at a time.

I want to thank Author Ofosu Jones-Quartey, Illustrator Ndubisi Okoye, Storey Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This is a voluntary review, and all comments and opinions are entirely my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the opportunity to read an advanced reader's copy of this book for an honest review. (Publish Date: November 22, 2022)

“Love Your Amazing Self” by Ofoso Jones-Quartey was truly inspiring, and I was so happy that I read it with my 8-year-old daughter, because it provoked some good conversations about why self-love and being kind to others no matter the circumstance is so important.

I loved the versatility of this book, because it could be spoken, recited, or sung aloud. I chose to read the story out load, but my daughter would chime in by singing some of the larger words that were woven into the illustrations. I plan to read this book again but by singing the all the words next time.

Every page of the book was vibrant and colorful - which held my daughter’s interest throughout the entire story. I would absolutely recommend this book to children, teens, and adults because the message is so powerful and uplifting!

Book Review : Love Your Amazing Self by Ofosu Jones-Quartey and illustrated by Ndubisi Okoyu.

This upcoming book is a lyrical verse that offers a unique entry point to mindfulness and self-empowerment. It gives a positive attitude to look things and accept the things or people as they are apart from trying to change them.

Do we ever introspect ourselves who we are or why we are ? The answer comes 'NO' . So why we don't take a pause and appreciate for what we are and thank GOD for making us as we are. It gives a clear illustration that no one is perfect and try to look things differently.

This book adds short reflections and activities to embody the messages provided in the book , strengthen one's self-confidence and bring joy into our lives.

This book is meant for kids 7 and up but I personally feel everyone to read this book atleast once . Stop being an adult each time . Stop and behave like a kid to know yourself and allow yourself to be happy. Enjoy the present moment as this will never be back again. Leave your grudges and free yourself to live and your soul smile and enjoy every bit of this precious life. Life is impermanence and accept it soon to be happy ever after.

I am thankful to netgalley and Storey publishing to give me a chance to read this incredible book in return of an honest review.
Happy reading !

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

These illustrations did not seem to fit the book at all. They were fun and bright but not calming or meditative at all. I didn’t care for the “meditations” which seemed more like some short form poetry about loving yourself. Not a bad thing in and of themselves, but didn’t seem to achieve what the book set out to do.

Love Your Amazing Self is not only a beautifully illustrated children's book but an essential one for self-love and awareness.

These developmental traits should happen earlier in children's lives so they can carry these messages with them throughout their life journey. Each theme connects the statement of self-empowerment in such a positive way. Being true to oneself validates following your dreams and "magic."

I appreciate the freedom to build self-confidence, which I think is lacking in today's society.

As a teacher, I would love to have this book in my classroom and school, and I would also recommend it to all parents!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc copy of this fantastic book in exchange for an honest review.
