This was a lovely collection of poetry. Each poem is paired with a photograph. The photographs are absolutely beautiful and I found myself drawn to the photos more so than they poems. That is not to say that I did not like the poems. There were a few that I enjoyed and a few that I didn’t relate to. However, this is simply personal preference.

Written during the early days of the pandemic, it felt like the poet wanted to embrace quiet, everyday moments. These poems could be read in one sitting, but I personally preferred to read a couple every few days.

The book is well done, the pictures helps the reader fully enter the written poem!
There are some poems really heartwarming.

What I recommend is to read a poem from time to time: open a random page, read the written poem and enjoy the images.

I thought I might enjoy this book of poetry but I was surprised just how much I did enjoy it. The photography, although simple was expertly done and very inspiring. The poems that the author wrote to go with them, fit so well. J. Thomas Larks has a true gift for painting beautiful images within just a few words.

Thank you, NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book!

While I like the idea behind this book, unfortunately, the writing just wasn't for me! I wish the author good luck for the future. Poetry is really a matter of personal taste, and I'm sorry this wasn't to mine!

Stunning photos! Open the book and just read a poem every now and then.. ---

First of all, wow! The photos in the book are stunning!! Each picture is convincing on its own - and complements the poem perfectly. Each photo has a piece of the poem written in transparent text on it, allowing the essence of the poem to be seen more quickly. ---

All of the poems are well-structured, with short sections that make a point in just a few words. ---

The author's intention for you is to open the book and just read a poem every now and then. This works out great because each poem can be read independently from the others! ---

Unfortunately, I was unable to find personal access to many of the poems. At the end of the day, it's just a matter of personal preference. However, it's worth taking a look at the book for the great photos alone! ---

This book had me in tears. This book made me look at my life from past to present. I just wish I could copy a couple poems and frame them, they were that beautiful. I know I can't do that so I won't. This book really does play on your emotions. The photography in this book is so beautiful, it actually tells you a story just by looking at the pictures. I would love to read more poetry books by this author. So beautiful!!!

I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review

COMING HOME is a collection of poetry with photos for each poem. It follows the author as he watches the world around him, explores his surroundings, and thinks about life. I would describe it as slice-of-life poetry about little things and moments – and while they might be mundane, it shows how special they can be.

The writing style is great, and it painted a vivid picture in my head of all the settings. The photos accentuated that as well, and they definitely added a lot to the book. I think they might actually be my favorite part since I loved most of them, and they were really pleasing and inspiring.

When it comes to the poems, I didn’t particularly connect with them, unfortunately. I think the main reason why isn’t that it’s badly written or anything, but that it’s not a style for me. I prefer poems about feelings and emotions, ones that inspire me and ones I relate to. Reading this was more like reading someone’s diary. If you think you’d like to read something like that, then I think you would definitely enjoy it. I think it could make you notice some little everyday things you don’t pay attention too.

Overall, the poems weren’t for me, but I loved the photos, and think you should check it out if it sounds like your cup of tea.
