This is so cute! Tachibana and Onda have been friends and coworker for a long time. Coming together with there shared love of idols. This follows the start of there relationship from friends to a couple.
The art is cute and expressive and I can't help but get excited for every page. I can't wait to see how there relationship develops and to see there continued support of each other in the things they enjoy the most.

Definitely a great opening volume for this series.

Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best! is a shoujo manga about 2 coworkers who are both a diehard fangirl and fanboy and eventually decided to start dating.

I really enjoyed this manga because of the interesting plot and I love that Akari and Onda are both adults. They are very mature and supportive towards each other.

I'd love to read more about them and see how their relationship progresses. ❤

First, I just want to mention that if you liked Wotakoi you will probably like this one as well. Instead of having one fujoshi and a gamer; Tachibana and Onda are both otakus who are into idols. Onda is completely different from when he is at work versus when he is outside of work. Tachibana and Onda basically became first as soon as they met at the cage after Tachibana recognized his tote. They support each other’s interests and one day Onda confesses to Tachibana. Since she is not quite sure what her feelings are toward him, they have a trial relationship.

I love seeing the gap-moe of Onda, he is so adorable. Neither of them really know about relationships and are figuring out what is best for them, but I enjoy seeing how super understanding Onda was with the conflict Tachibana had with his birthday and how Tachibana also thinks of ways to help Onda (even before they dated). Personally, seeing how they both have a similar interest and get so caught up in it, is something I can relate to. I really enjoyed reading volume one and really hope there will be another one coming out soon!

This was such a wholesome read!! Onda and Tachibana were such a perfect match and I catch wait to see their relationship develop further in thr next volumes!!

When I saw that Mito Aoi had a new book translated into English, I knew I had to read it right away! Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best! Vol. 1 by Mito Aoi is a fun shojo manga without any supernatural elements like her previous work. The story revolves around coworkers and friends Akari and Onda. They bonded over their love of an idol group, and they're both idol otaku / hardcove fans. But what happens when Ondaasks Akari to his girlfriend? Will they mutual love of an idol group be enough to sustain a relationship?

Overall, Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best! Vol. 1 is an absolutely adorable shojo manga that will appeal to anyone who has ever been a fan of a boyband. One highlight of this book is the amazing art. Mito Aoi's art is just as gorgeous as ever, and the characters are drawn cutely. Another highlight of this book is the interesting premise. Both being an idol group's fans is a good reason to get to know each other, but is it the right basis for a romantic relationship? I loved seeing the ups and downs in this book, and I look forward to Volume 2! If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of shojo manga in general, you won't regret checking out this book, which is available now!

Akari and her co-worker Onda butt heads except when they're stanning idols together. That's why it comes as a surprise when Onda confesses he's in love with Akari. Yet, Akari decices to give it a shot and finds herself falling for Onda too.

This was cute! Very Wotakoi but geared towards idol fans instead. The art is cute with pretty character design. I liked that both characters are adults and as we get a glimpse into Akari's life outside of work/Onda, so I'd love to see the same for him in the next volume.

This manga is nothing of what I was expecting and it's too kawaii!!!!
It's a really adorable story about two otakus who work at a cafe and both have their favorite idols.
I won't say more because you have to read it.
Can't wait for volume 2!

First things first, the art is AMAZING! What first drew me to the manga in the first place was the cover art. I knew the inside art was going to be beautiful simply from the cover. Then I read the description and I was hooked. I was ready to read a cute romance about two idol-loving coworkers and I was given that and more!

Be ready for:
-Cute blushing mc's
-An adorable romance
-A relatable fanboy and fangirl

Onda:
I would do anything to have a boyfriend who was the embodiment of Onda. It's so hard to find a male mc who is a little more in touch with his "feminine" side. I liked that Onda's idol was male (although if they were female that would not be bad) but his idol being male was very surprising. He had no shame in fanboying over his idol and sharing his love with Tachibana. Overall I thought his character was extremely well written in the personality sense and the artistic!

Tachibana:
If I had to describe Tachibana in one word it would be "cute". Along with Onda, she's a true otaku with her own idol she fawns over. I really enjoyed how she didn't immediately respond to Onda's unprompted statement, made her come across as an adult who needs time to think through decisions rather than answering instantly and embarrassing herself as I have so often seen. On top of everything I loved her outward personality, she is determined, encouraging, and overall extremely friendly, the perfect mc in my opinion.

The Relationship:
Your classic awkward romance without most of the awkwardness, if that makes sense. Although their relationship is slow progressing and there are a few awkward moments between the two their dynamic is to die for. Them having been coworkers before boyfriend and girlfriend and their already shared love for their idols helps grow their relationship and dissolve some of the "new relationship" bits. Get ready for some cute "makes you wanna blush" type moments because they are far from lacking (honestly I'm 99% sure my face was red the entire time while reading this).

If you have time in your day, or don't have time but want to procrastinate, a would 100% recommend this manga. I am so excited to see where Onda and Tachibana's relationship goes and can't wait for the second volume to be translated.

This novel was super cute and fun to read following Onda and Akari who have idols they both adore. Thanks to this they both became good friends which helps Onda feel comfortable with his confession to Akari who wasn’t sure how she felt but they both agreed to give it a go as they explore their new relationship and support each others idols I cant wait to see what’s in store for them.

First want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review! I don't really get the fangirling or fanboying over an idol, but I do have my bias sooooo. Lol. I have a good friend who is into Kpop and with the girl's hair color I just thought it would be super duper cute to read something that reminded me of her.

Was the story worth it? VERY. It is super sweet and fluffy and deals with emotions coming from dating someone to loving a hobby others might judge you on. Would I read on with it? Uhm, maybe. If it crosses my path again. Would I recommend it? Heck yeah!

I was already hoping for tons of cuteness and there we have it! Two idol otaku start dating, I am still seeking the chemistry, but I do see it slowly appear, plus, it was just so much fun to read~

In this fun book we meet Akari and Onda-san. Co-workers (though not friends given how military Onda-san is about work) and outside work friends, oh and sometime in the manga also lovers. Or at least on trial base. Yep. I love that she at least tried this relationship out, I can imagine it must be weird to think your best friend is being with you because you also love idols and you both stan the heck out of them, and then suddenly get confessed by that guy. Will it work out? Especially with how Onda is at work? 

I had fun reading about this couple, yes, I still am searching for the spark, it appears at times but not fully there yet, I do think that it can appear though. Both are figuring out things, about each other, about being idol stans AND dating, going from friends/co-workers to something more, maybe. Which is a big step from an other manga I read earlier, here I do see the potential, and again there are also other factors so that I love this relationship a bit more than the one in that other manga.

I also love that both these characters are idol stans and I love how dedicated they are. Still very respectful to their idols and having tons of fun cheering for their idols, going to meets, getting very excited about news, and I just adored that their dates often involved food and going to places that their idols went to. At times just to eat some food, but other times to diehard binge to get the collectables. I love how much of a lead Akari takes in this case. She makes sure to take Onda to the places, makes sure that his collection is complete, and more. It was so sweet! 

I also loved that these two are slowly getting together. Figuring out how it works to date, see if this has a future. Figuring out if moe-gap can turn into love. And I love seeing them talk, figure it out, see Akari talk to her friends. It made me smile! I loved that with each chapter we learn new things about the characters and see them get closer. It is hella awkward but also very adorable and I definitely found myself rooting for this couple.

The art was also so sweet and fun, it fits well with the story. The character designs were fun, I especially love the facial expressions (and also happy to see a girl with thick eyebrows again).

All in all, I will keep on reading. I want to see if this works out for the both of them. Will they finally kiss? What will happen to their idols in the next volume?

This book was interesting, I liked the premise a lot but I feel like overall it fell kinda flat. The dating aspect felt forced at times, there wasn’t really a point in the romance where I truly believed that they liked each other. I know it’s a relationship of convenience but even then we don’t push off from that part. I also felt like the dialog was a bit bit stilted at times. The art was stunning and I really liked how beautiful the characters looked.

Akari and Onda work together, but they are also good friends. The two discovered they have similar interests and have been friends ever since. However, when Onda randomly confesses to Akari, she is shocked. But she decides to give their relationship a try. She's glad to be in a relationship with someone who understands and supports her interests, but how does she really feel about Onda?

I thought this was a cute read! It's wholesome and fluffy, and it reminds me a lot of Wotakoi (though it's cleaner than Wotakoi!) It was fun to see how idol groups and their fans were portrayed here! The art style was also really nice.

I enjoyed this volume a lot and will likely read more of this series! I would recommend it to fans of cute and fluffy shoujos, as well as anyone who enjoys idol groups!

This was an adorable romance! Onda and Akari are two coworkers and friends who are both idol otakus. They keep up on their idols and go to events together but when Onda confesses his feelings for Akari, they decide to try out being together and navigate their life as they grow closer together.

I absolutely loved this from start to finish. It was really cool to see Onda be interested in a male idol and also very supportive of Akari still liking her idol when they began to date! Their relationship was also adorable and it's so hard to write a review when all I want to do is just flap my hands and shove this at people. I also really liked that this didn't end on a cliffhanger, because their relationship was going so sweetly and I would have been disappointed if something sudden and drastic happened. This is overall a soft, fun shoujo I would really recommend!

This was genuinely so cute! The art style was adorable (both Tachibana and Onda-san were well drawn) and I loved how expressive both the characters were! I was a bit uncertain at first when the love confession by Onda-san came so early on (I prefer slowburn) but I ended up loving the dynamic of being a couple yet still being a bit shy and tentative! Oda-san and Tachibana had good chemistry as well, acting mostly like friends yet still “testing out the waters” so to say which made their interactions fun to read about. I also loved how supportive they were of each other, especially since their interests involved dedicating themselves to another person which I can see could create some jealousy if you’re a couple. But they supported each other and let the other person enjoy their interests!! Their relationship felt very healthy which I very much enjoyed. The only thing that could confuse me at times while reading was that the speech bubbles could be a bit awkwardly placed so sometimes I wasn’t sure who was saying what. But it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of this manga! I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for something fun and light to read!!

Honest review from my nine year old: the story was cute. I loved the illustrations and would read more from this author/illustrator.

This was a pretty funny read! I do enjoy the occassionally nice, fluffy romance manga and this was just that. I loved the relationship between the main characters and how they share a bond of fangirling over idols. It's just something I found to be very sweet and hilarious! I'm curious how their relationship will grow in the long run.

Akari Tachibana and Onda-san are both co-workers, friends and hardcore stans of their respective favorite idols.
They've always been able to bond over their similarities, but after Onda-san suddenly confesses his feelings to Akari their platonic relationship shifts into a romantic one.

This was so cute! I absolutely adored their relationship dynamic.
I liked how it was kind of a sunshine x grumpy dynamic and how sweet Onda always was with her.
They were so supportive of each other and their interests.
It was just so sweet and funny at times.
I also liked how the book incorporated idol culture and seemed to present it positively.

I really enjoyed it and I definitely plan to keep my eye out for the next one in the series.

Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best! 1 by Mito Aoi is a great shoujo manga about two hardworking adults who both enjoy supporting idols as a hobby, and they decide to try dating.

This was a unique and fun premise for a manga and I really enjoyed it! The characters had different looks and were entertaining but still mature; I wouldn't mind reading more.

This is a VERY promising start to a new series, and I hope it stays on the fluffy cute side. The MCs are both adults so it could drift to the spicy side (but I hope it doesn't)

I think the two MCs are absolutely adorable, and even though I think they take it to the extreme at times, I can appreciate the level of fangirling that goes on (I mean, who doesn't fan girl/boy at some point in their life?)

I can't wait to read volume 2 to see how their relationship and the story progresses.
