Tachibana and her coworker Onda are idol otaku (super fans). They each have their special celebrity that they adore and love to attend fan events. Even though Onda is grumpy and prickly at work, when he gets to interact with his idol he goes into “blushing maiden” mode. I love how Tachibana and Onda support each other’s passion, and I know from experience that is wonderful to have that friend you can “nerd out” with.

Tachibana couldn’t be more surprised when Onda confesses to her because she never thought of him as anything other than an otaku friend. They decide to star dating on a trial biases, and what happens after could not be more adorably awkward. This made me smile and I hope to read more in this series.

This was so cute! Having an idol loving boyfriend to go to signing events, concerts and watch livestreams with sounds like a dream. Everyone’s interests should be respected. I feel like this manga began to smash the stigma around what men can/can’t enjoy.

Adorable read.

A charming manga about fandom and love!

I really love this manga! It’s beautifully illustrated – our characters look so cute! The first volume introduces us to Akari and Onda, who are co-workers and fans of idols. When Onda-san confessed to Akari, they started to navigate a different yet familiar facet to their relationship. After all, they already would go to events together and do activities similar to what couples do on dates.

I love how accurate the manga is with fandom culture, something a fangirl or fanboy can relate wholeheartedly to (like me). The fandom events! Fanmeet! Collecting idol merchandise! 100% fandom thing! And I love our main characters, they are both adorable, and it’s fun to read about characters that genuinely enjoy fandom with enthusiasm. I adore how supportive they are of each other’s interests, which shows in each chapter of this volume.

I’m looking forward to reading more of their story. Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha, for the e-ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and review this.

This is a hilarious and entertaining story, where we follow two characters that work in the same cafe and have the same obsession with idols. They begin to date, and their awkward communication adds to the humour of the story. Akari the female lead, is a bubbly character and Onda the male lead, appears to be a gloomy sort of person, on the outside, but a sweet person on the inside.

I'm eager to check out more of this series

I was so excited to read this manga as I am an idol obsessed otaku as well. I love this concept but the story was a little boring. It was lacking in tension/conflict. It was only about these two co-workers sort of dating while they do idol activities bases around each of their idols. There wasn't really a plot or anything pushing the story in any sort of direction. So while I enjoyed hearing about idols and fandom, I doubt I would read further in this series.

Thank you to netgalley , the publisher and the author remind me access to the eARC.

Overall I thought this manga was wholesome and adorable and I loved the ongoing theme of this although somethings did annoy me with the male main character with him being cranky towards her. But I think they’re still an adorable couple and I would read the next book in the series. This overall is a great theme and the art style is absolutely amazing, I would recommend trying out if you haven’t

For anyone who loves Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, this book is for you!
This book is sweet and simple but holds much more affection and tenderness within the couple. I know this will be a fast favourite!

If you are a fan of idol life and manga this is it. It's a super adorable start to a relationship with two idol fans who support each other's hobby of liking idols. I like how it shows a slow paced very fluffy relationship and their ideol events. I can't recommend it enough. Love a manga where they both support each other's hobbies.

Tachibana and Onda-san are idol loving otakus and since their interests align they do a lot of idol activities together. Onda-san eventually asks Tachibana out and the two start dating. While the concept is a great one and very different from normal manga that I have read I feel like it is slightly rushed. I will look forward to the second volume to decide whether or not to continue this series.

Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the Best is a fun read. The art style is great and the typeface really works well to help the reader get a good understanding of the character’s mood. I think that characters are relatable and beautifully designed. Something that I would like to see would be little pieces of trivia information the the breaks between chapters. Maybe info about the idols? I love the premise of this manga and look forward to reading more chapters.

This was a sweet and fun read!

I wouldn't say it's an overall favorite, but I found a lot of things in this that I really enjoyed!

One being that I LOVED the focus on idol culture and activities! I'm not super familiar with idol culture and was totally fascinated how much these characters loved their idols. It was a lot of fun following them on their adventures of visiting places their idol(s) recommended, visited, or would be in attendance. It was great!

Probably my favorite thing though is the strong and awesome emphasis on being who you are in a relationship. Both of these characters love and adore their idols and their idol activities are a huge part of their lives. When they start dating, that's something that neither one of them want to give up just because they are dating. They both want the other to still do the things they did before and I just was so happy to read a message like that because no one should give up their passions just because they have a boyfriend or girlfriend.

So while I may have not "loved" this manga, I absolutely LOVED the messages it had. I think it's a very sweet story and would highly recommend it to those who like idol culture and want to see a healthy blooming relationship who share a strong common interest.

Having an Idol-Loving Boyfriend is the best! is a hilarious showing of the idol supporters lifestyle with a romance that’s both beautifully adorable and hilarious. Many Thanks to Kodansha and NetGalley for an advanced electronic copy in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis
Akari Tachibana and her grumpy co-worker Onda-San are more than just friends- they are both huge idol fans. Close to hard-core with their obsession and supporting each other, Onda-san completely out of the blue confesses his feelings to Akari leaving her stunned.

Having a similar obsession is great- and a boyfriend who’s also into it? Amazing. Will their relationship be able to navigate this new dimension while they both continue their individual idol obsessions.

Review:
Plot and world building- I’m a massive fan of idol culture- I find it intriguing and I do have some idols I follow religiously- so to say I could really see myself in both of the lead characters is an understatement. It’s one of the main reasons I requested this manga. It was really hilarious and well plotted.

The art style is beautifully sharp and very clean for the story, generally it was beautifully designed throughout. The plot was fast paced and hilarious to the point I had to stop reading to catch my breath. Some of the turbulent sections of the manga where some decisions had to be made about, for example, boyfriend over idol events? I was sat asking myself what I would do because with this kind of idol fandom it is genuinely a huge deal to fans so this was adorable in the representation.

Also- a massive appreciation for a male that is into the idol culture for a male idol. Yes! We need more of this! It’s always leaning towards girls when it comes to idol culture so to see this representation was absolutely ground-breaking to me and I loved every second.

Characters and Plot
All the characters within the story were well developed and I loved the grumpy sunshine elements of Onda-san and his genuine nervousness when it came to Akari and their relationship.

Akari’s outgoing nature was beautiful and her relationship with Onda-San where they can both support each other and their idol obsessions was genuinely delightful, humorous and refreshing.

Their relationship started off so sweet and I am honestly so excited to see where they go with it, and how their respective lives as idol fans could interfere with this more.

Final Verdict:
A Hilarious, romantic comedy about the true struggles of being in an idol fandom which has me eagerly awaiting volume 2.

This book was seriously entertaining! We follow two characters that work at the same cafe and have the same obsession: idols. Due to their shared passion, they become a couple and attend idol events with each other. They are also both terrible at communicating and actually being a couple. I'm eager to check out more of this series.

This was a super cute manga about two otaku who decide to start dating. I liked that multiple people affirmed the boyfriend's interest in his hobby, and I think it will be interesting to see where this goes.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha!

Bubbly Akari and her grumpy coworker Onda are both idol obsessed. Onda confesses his feelings for Akari and they form their relationship on their mutual idol fandom.

This graphic novel is very cutesy. Onda is a grump on the outside with a soft, fanboy heart. Akari is sweet and really wants their relationship to work. The storyline starts out strong but the last few chapters are flat. There is minor conflict but it’s resolved quickly.

The concept of the plot is good so I’m interested in reading the next volume to see how the story continues.

I loved the art style! Brilliant Slice of Life manga with really great shows of the otaku obsessions without that being the main focus. I loved Onda-san and his awkwardness over events. I loved how this was a really simple idea but was really well played out. I will be continuing with the series.

Really great Slice of Life Manga!

This a first time read by new author Mito Aoi. I thought this read was surprisingly enjoyable. It didn't have much drama but was oh so cute and delightful.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this read, it was quite nice. Akari and Onda are both absolute fans of idols and that’s how they became friends. Onda has a very different personality when at work, and when at idols events which was quite amusing. I thought they would be an item from the beginning but not exactly. In fact, Akari is not sure of her feelings towards Onda. There is no drama in this first volume so it’s nice and relaxing.
I recommend to people looking for a fun relaxing read.

This story is so adorable! I've never read anything with a concept like this. As someone who also has different idol biases its so fun to see the characters really enjoying themselves in their love for their idols! I think its a really fresh task that, not only do they both have a favorite idol, they're falling for each other and dating as well. I can't wait to see how their relationship further develops in future chapters. The art is really well done and I think each character has such a unique look to them which is something I prefer when reading manga. Thank you for the ARC!
