Main character Rachel and her daughter move into a new apartment to escape Rachel’s crazy ex husband, but soon discovers the reason why the apartment was vacant - the previous tenant was not safe. Rachel gets involved in solving the mystery, or/and saving herself from this stalker! There were several twists and turns that kept this one exciting - you’ll want to read!

The Girl Before Me is a psychological thriller set in Chicago, America.
The book starts with Annie feeling threatened and scared before skipping to Rachel's story. The move to the city is a big one and quite emotional as she has divorced her husband. This added an extra dimension to the story as she is trying to deal with her own issues while also feeling uncertain about the previous tenant. Her neighbours keep mentioning Annie and her mysterious disappearance and Rachel starts to feel unsettled in the apartment.
I found the pace of the book a little slow in the first half as we are introduced to Rachel and her situation. The tension builds gradually as we meet more of the building's occupants and sinister things begin to happen which make Rachel feel unsafe. There are twists which I was not expecting and I felt that the mystery of Annie was sustained well over the course of the book.
The Girl Before Me is an enjoyable thriller which kept me guessing to the end.

An interesting premise of a newly divorced single mom moving to the city into an apartment whose prior resident when missing.

Some parts of the book felt overly explained and drawn out. Kept me reading though and I didn’t guess the ending,

Oh man! I could not put this book down! I read it in one day! I loved all the twists and turns in this book and needless to say, I didn't figure it out

A great thriller - I would recommend it!

The book starts off tense and is creepy. It is a slow burn. There is a lot going on in the book. The ending felt very rushed and unbelievable.

The Girl before me was full of suspense that kept me wanting to keep reading, with a twist that I didn't see coming.

This was a solid and interesting thriller set in Chicago. I was not expecting the twist and overall it kept me captivated!

Creepy neighbours....weird letters....strange things happening. All they wanted was to feel safe in their new home but they may be in more danger than ever. Gripping.....tense....a thrilling read

Such a gripping read and I was hooked from the first few pages. Lots of tension and twists to keep you guessing and the ending is clever. I didn't expect it. Looking forward to reading more from the author in the future!

A quick and easy read, but in the end just didn't do it for. I figured out how it was going to end pretty quickly, which left nothing to keep me interested, but I did manage to finish it.

Okay. I completely DNF’d this. I tried but this is not doing anything for me. Sorry!

This book was a captivating read from the start, I was caught up in the creepy, ominous feelings from the building and the occupants of the other apartments. The tension the main character was reading was palpable and I couldn't help feeling unsettled in the best of ways whilst reading this book.
I loved the sweet moments between Rachel and Lily and of course I was here for the disturbing/ unnerving moments too. Really good thriller. Kept my interest all the way through. I dId not see the twist at the ending coming and I usually can figure it out beforehand. I would highly recommend this book.

This book started off really well and you have to keep on your toes as there is so much going on. It did end a bit abruptly. I really enjoyed the second half of the story. It involves one of my favourite tropes missing people.
