An ok plot with lots of trivia about the Beatles. However the main character is a bit melodramatic, the story keeps going over the same things again, and the whole thing could have been much shorter and kept the interest going
This is a great book for Beatles fans, and is full of nostalgia. A lovely look at getting back on the dating scene.
Brilliant audiobook full of retro appeal!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for this advance copy to listen to.
Beverley Wilson has always loved the Beatles but kissing a poster goodnight isn’t really an option when you’re a fifty-something mum of three. So when she decides it’s time to get back into the dating game, she turns to a dating agency for help.
But the long and winding road to real love is littered with dating disasters – the pantyhose pervert being the real low point and in Bev’s opinon it’s all too much. But meeting fellow Beatles fan Scott Smith changes everything…
The narration has good pace and flow, and the narrators voices seemed right for the characters they were portraying.
Beetles fans, this one's for you! It’s got romance, comedy, and a love for the Beatles that spices things up! Beverley Wilson has been a fan of the Beetles for as long as she can remember and besides collecting memorabilia of the band, she is now also the proud owner of Paul McCartney’s childhood home. The only thing that Bev, also a divorcee mother of three, is missing is a partner who shares her passion, so she decides to give dating apps a try. As luck ahs it, she comes across Scott Smith with whom she decides to “Shake it up”. But is Scott the right one?
Emma Gregory did such a great job narrating this book, that it left me with the feeling that I was watching Bev’s attempts to find Mr. Right, right in front of my eyes, surrounded by all her collectibles and going through all her adventures. Having the story told only through Bev’s voice also helped with getting an idea of her struggles and journey through the book. I felt as if there wasn’t any dull moment and the events near the end of the book made the story all the more enjoyable.
It was also pleasant to watch how the author went on to integrate a secondary topic (*wink*** sister *wink*) and I would have liked it even more if the outcome wasn’t so sudden. At the same time, I appreciated the closure of he topic and not leaving it as a cliffhanger, as it happens with other debut novels.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read, and I can’t wait to see more novels from Suzan!

This is a review of the audiobook version of this book.
Not one for me I’m afraid. I found the talk about The Beatles really boring and I could not get into the story at all.
Having said that Emma Gregory does a great job of narrating.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for letting me review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Beverley is a huge Beatles fan, she has collected items since she was a child; she is also a widow and a mother. Her kids are all grown up and it's now time to find someone to love.
But dating isn't as easy as it once was, the internet is the way to go; she's looking for a man who loves The Beatles as much as she does, and it can't be too hard to find.
Although I enjoyed this book I also found it predictable, I knew the narrative before it happened and I found the character naive, which was also frustrating. However, maybe this is what Holder meant for us to feel.
One part of the narrative I did not see coming and I did want to know more, however, with the way the narrative pans out this is not possible, and again I found this a little frustrating but could see how this would go the same way in a realistic real-life situation.
This is filled with Liverpool and Beatle references which are fun to spot throughout, as well the tone is friendly and very much addresses the reader.
So, if you love The Beatles and/or looking for an easy read/listen then I would recommend this novel.
SHAKE IT UP BEVERLY by SUZAN HOLDER.
This is Suzan Holder’s debut novel.
The quirky title and fun cover are immediately attractive and very accurately convey the spirit of the book.
Fifty something Beverly, is a widow, she has brought up three children and works as an estate agent. Bev is a massive Beatles fan, who is ready to get back out there and start living again. She may even find love once more.
This book is essentially a romcom with a huge Beatles twist.
Well written with lots of laugh out loud moments
as well as some honest emotion too.
I loved this fun story. Just what many of us need right now.
I’m keen to see what Suzan Holder writes next.
Five feel good stars from me.

Thank you netgalley for allowing me to write reviews and read amazing books. Thank you to the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book.
Apologies for the late review I have just had a really tough year.
Overall this book was great, especially for a debut author novel, I loved the musical theme and the realistic quirky weird characters. The romance was good very sweet, although i would of liked to see more of the children. I do feel like the main characters was written to be too quirky it felt unrealistic at times which detatched me from the book.
Overall i liked it but she can be improved.

A light-hearted and fun read with some very relevant life advice. A nice and relaxing read - an ideal read for a fan of The Beatles as it is full of Beatles Trivia. The way that Suzan has written this book, you will empathise with Beverley very quickly.
