Though there were parts of this book and characters that were interesting. I felt like there was not a lot of character development and I didn't end of caring about what happened to the characters. The intended audience may have been a little bit younger than what I am and that may have been the issue as well.
I was game and ready for the promise of this, but it ended up failing to rise to the occasion for me.
This was a great book! I love cooking books, and Ramsey delivered on the setting while also drawing really interesting and complex relationships. Elena had great character development! Pacing was a little weird but overall a good read!.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced copy of this book.
Elena Rose comes from a family of celebrity chefs. Run It! is presented as a series of snapshots of Elena's life from the time she was in high school through adulthood.
Although the characters are vibrant - the choppy plot left me wanting more. I was expecting a more consistent narrative. I would have liked to see the actual work put into the relationships rather than the chapter jumps where everything is worked out behind the scene.
What a read. I honestly didn't expect to fall in love with this book and be hungry at the same time. All that food talk my goodness.
I also loved the art added to the book as well.
Overall this was a wonderful read and one i would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read or it should have a spot in your tbr
Set initially in a boarding school devoted to cookery, Run It! is an unusual book. The focus quickly shifts from cookery to relationships.
Our main character, Elena Rose, begins the book as a young student but ends with taking her nephew to the same school. Along the way we see her shifting relationships with family and the developing friendships she chooses.
The opening of the book focusing on the annual competition was interesting. I liked the way Elena and her cousin interacted, but the background adult characters were hard to maintain focus on.
I found the pacing of this book very odd. There were attempts to develop one idea and then we’d move into something else.
This isn’t a book I’d have read if I had not been given the chance to via NetGalley.
This was a quick, easy and cute read. It was well written with a good storyline and well developed charcaters, some of who I disliked but some that I really liked - Elena and Prayikina i'm looking at you girls. I loved the friendship between them.
the descriptions in the book were good and I felt like I was in the corridors of the school too. I laughed, I welled up but most of all I really enjoyed it and will definitely be looking out for more from the author.
