Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. For me , this book was just OK. It was a little predictable for me and as such I had a hard time finishing it

Kinda slow start for me. Picked up after a bit. When a Angel and a Demon fall in love who do they ask permission to be together, the Almighty, or Lucifer?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Quick romance Ray and Des, an angel and a demon. Unlikely pair but twisty and mind boggling. This is the first of the series so buckle in and enjoy the ride.

A fantastic read that kept me turning the pages. It was a little strange to end up u. Regency England, but a romance between an angel and a devil is always enticing

Demons and Angels - a bit of time travel - old vendettas - and unexpected romance. Oh how can a not-so-good angel and a better-than-bad demon fall in love? Not without many obstacles, and demon/angel politics! And don't forget about that old vendetta that keeps turning up!

Did a couple of DNFs on this one before finishing it.
Interesting concept and a well written book, I will try again at some point to see if a different frame of mind pulls me in more and I will keep a look out for more by the author.

A DNF for me shortly before the halfway point, though I wanted to stop much earlier. I always feel bad not finishing a book when the publisher has so graciously extended me an ARC, but I do feel I gave this one my best shot. So why the DNF?

First of all, to be clear, I normally really enjoy paranormal romance, and good demons are, for me, particularly fun. Angels have always been harder for me to enjoy, but I was willing to give Rayven a chance. Both Desiree and Rayven, however, were disappointing. One of the best parts about demon protagonists is that they can be spicy and irreverent and gutsy. Desiree is far too innocent (literally) and sweet for a demon and barely has a personality. Rayven, on the other hand, lacked the basic morality I'd have expected for an angel. Living in Sin City, he embraces the lifestyle, visiting strip clubs and paying for lap dances. Ew. Oh, and he lies.

When they meet--in another realm, Regency England, but a romance novel book Regency realm (no, seriously, it couldn't just be normal time travel)--it's instalove. They don't have anything in common, but it's okay because they're hot for each other.

From there, it just got more annoying. There are more demons, archangels, and Lucifer himself. I just didn't care about any of it or any of them. Ugh, I'm sorry.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Damned by Charlene Johnson

The Archangel Michael summons angel warrior Rayven Stone to find demon Desiree Black from stealing souls destined for heaven. Rayven finds her in Regency times and falls for the stunning red headed demon but when they return to current times he must protect her from her demon leader. Follow Rayven and Desiree’s journey and through twists and turns the have and decisions they make.

A very well written book.

An easy and quick read especially you requires change . 4.5/5

I couldn’t finish it. I made it about 20% in and then gave up. It just wasn’t for me. I would’ve loved to have seen more world building around the Heaven/Hell characters, instead it transported them to Regency England? Why not just write a book about that time frame. I don’t know, there were a lot of questions and things that made zero sense.

Interesting

Rayven and Desiree take us on a wild journey that spans from Heaven thru Hell. Drama, angst, emotion and action are all in play.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

I enjoyed this angel versus demon read as I love the classic good versus evil reads but more than that I really loved Desiree and Rayven together. It was well written with a good storyline and well developed characters - i mean those names are EVERYTHING. there was a good level of romance and angst too. I just really enjoyed it and would love to read more from the author and more importantly more from Rayven and Desiree.
