I enjoy reading psychological thrillers and, heard good things about this one, so of course I had to read it to see if it lived up to the hype. It did!! There were multiple twists in the novel - some that didn’t surprise me, and some that did. One thing that came out near the end I was happy about because it fit what I had guessed.
The characters were well developed and the book was fast moving. I was disappointed at first when the initial plot twist was revealed because it seemed too predictable. However, that didn’t last long as more twists kept coming. I will definitely read another book by this author!

This was the first book I have read by Freida McFadden, and now, I am adding the rest of her books to my Kindle Unlimited list. This book was just the twisty, unputdownable, twisty thriller that I needed after being in quite a reading slump. I give The Housemaid 4.5 stars! We follow Millie, a young 20-something woman, who is on parole, living in her car, and just wants to get the nanny/housekeeper job that Nina, our other main character, has placed an ad for. Nina is married to to wealthy, handsome Andrew, and has a daughter, Cece. Judging from their outside image, Millie thinks this family is living in a dream, but slowly things begin to unfold right before her eyes. Rumors are flying that Nina is insane, but is she? The atmospheric writing about the "room" in the attic was so well done, it made me actually feel claustrophobic myself just reading it. I just loved how the author made you feel one emotion for one character, and then wham, your eyes are opened and you completely change your perspective of things. This was hard to put down, was a fast read, and even though some of the details of story may be a bit unrealistic, it wasn't enough for me to knock of any of my 4.5 star rating. I look forward to reading more by McFadden!

Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. This book! I loved it! Millie, who has a criminal record, receives a job with the Winchester's. This is one messed up house. All the twists and turns keeps you at the edge if you're seat.

This book is BONKERS!! Millie has taken a job with the Winchester family to be their live in maid/nanny. They have a big, beautiful house, a nice maintained yard, and a hot gardener with a warning for Millie: danger.
This book is told in three parts from Millie’s perspective and from Nina’s, the mother and homeowner who has some mental issues she dealing with. But she has secrets and so does Millie.
Freida McFadden has become an automatic buy author for me and this book didn’t disappoint. It’s twisty and a disturbing all wrapped up into one. Thank you Netgalley, Freida McFadden, and Bookouture for the advanced copy.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me the chance to read an advanced copy of The housemaid by Freida McFadden! What can I say but what a rush! This was the first (but definitely not the last!) title by this author and it didn't take me long to get hooked into this thrilling twisting ride! Fast paced, short chapters, that kept me turning pages to see what happened next I enjoyed it from the first chapter...right to the last sentence! Freida McFadden is now right on my top TBR authors now!!!! For those who love Ruth Ware, and Paula Hawkins!

Wow, The Housemaid was phenomenal. I was really looking forward to it from the description alone and the book did not disappoint. It was so twisty and turny it had my head in a spin and I did not put it down from start to finish. I needed to know what was going to happen and I was not disappointed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

This was really clever and the plot had lots of twists and turns that you don't see coming. I shall be looking for her other books to read now as I've not come across this author before!

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.
I have never read from the author. I really enjoyed this book. Domestic thrillers are one of my favorite genre.

3.5 stars rounded down.
The Housemaid is a twisty turny suspense novel with a few tricks up its sleeve. I found the first half of the novel rather enjoyable and got to like our main character, Millie.
Without revealing too much there was one branch in the storyline at about the halfway point that just didn't fit Millie's character and that made a few of the chapters difficult to swallow. I ended up skimming until I got to Part Two.
At Part Two the plot picks up again and the Millie I had grown to love shines through.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and found it to be a suspenseful read. It doesn't have the literary finesse of Lisa Jewel or Colleen Hoover, but it has enough smart twists to keep you engaged.

An amazing and TASTY journey- that’s for sure!
First, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Bookouture, along with the author, Freida McFadden, for providing this book, free of charge, in exchange for my unbiased review.
Second, I was REALLY surprised by this book… and I was rendered speechless at a surprising point in the book too! If I say when that was, it will ruin the “whoa” feeling and I would never want someone to do that to me, so I won’t spoil that surprise for the person reading this review, either. I will say that, this book has so many twist and reveals, that, it’s almost hard to write this review. I think my mouth has fallen open for so long, that it’s hard to pick it up off the floor to close it!
Third, there were a lot of sensitive issues in this story, so if a person has any issues whatsoever with reading about domestic problems involving abuse, then they really should avoid this book.
Finally, where can I begin to describe this story without retelling it? And that’s not possible, so here is my takeaway of how I felt about it::
It’s definitely a chunky psychological soup with a bit of meaty “whodunit” thrown in there, along with the deep spice of “get ‘em!” used for flavor throughout. It’s not too salty but there’s a lot of chili and cayenne pepper used, so if you can’t handle heat, don’t taste this one! Whew! Have you ever tasted something like that before? But afterwards, you’ll want to come back for more and more?
Well, if you like that description, and you like books like that, then grab a cold rag with some ice in it, and plop it right down on the back of your neck while you read… you’ll find yourself swiping at your forehead with that rag (haha) until you get to the end! Bravo to Ms. McFadden for sure! It was eye-opening and mighty delicious! I’m certainly coming back for more from this author!
Enjoy! 😊

Wow! What an amazing thriller! A wealthy couple hires a live in maid to help clean the house, cook and care for the daughter. But what happens when the wife purposely trashes the house? I was hooked on this exciting story.

WOW! One of the most fun domestic thrillers I’ve read in the recent past. Although not every detail is ultra-realistic, the overall experience of reading it is an absolute thrill-ride. This is my first book by Frieda McFadden but it will definitely not be my last!
Thank you #TheHousemaid #NetGalley and #FriedaMcFadden for the chance to review this #ARC!

Thank you to the publishers at Bookouture and Netgalley for this e-ARC of The Housemaid!
I’ve been looking for a book that would really knock my socks off in the surprise department, and The Housemaid gave me just that!
Told in 3 parts, we first meet Millie, an ex-convict living out of her car after being fired from her last job. Desperate for a real place to lay her head at night again, she interviews with the Winchesters. Nina seems like the perfect housewife with an immaculate home, beautiful clothing, and the perfect husband. Millie is ecstatic when she gets the job. But then Nina changes on a dime. Suddenly she’s claiming she told Millie things she never mentioned or asking her to do things and claiming she didn’t. Millie doesn’t know what to think, but then there’s Andrew Winchester, on her side against every single one of Nina’s attacks. As Millie and Andrew grow closer, Millie thinks she’s found her happy ever after. But there are always two sides to every story…
I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller! I had no idea what kind of shock I was going to be in for, but it was absolutely incredible! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a surprise twist that you never see coming! You won’t regret this one.
The Housemaid releases April 26th! Preorder your copy now.

I have to say this was a top read for me.. devoured it in a couple of days. The short chapters really worked and the characters were well thought out and written, the storyline drags you in and you’re drawn into the lives of Millie, Nina and Andrew. The ending was a tad predictable but it certainly didn’t dampen my enjoyment
Thank you to Netgalley and Frieda McFadden for the advanced copy

This was one of the best books I have read in a while! Definitely a few twists and turns. Enjoyed all the characters and the ending. Look forward to reading more by this author. Thanks for the advanced copy.

OMG this book was just flipping fantastic. Right from the prologue I was completely and utterly gripped. You know when you’re reading a book and you don’t want it to end but at the same time you want to get to the end to find out the outcome, well this was one of those books. An utterly outstanding domestic suspense thriller that I can’t recommend highly enough to fans of this genre. The Housemaid will be one on my top 10 reads of 2022 without a shadow of a doubt. Five massive stars.

First, let me say the cover on this book is great. It is a quick trip of a thriller. It is an easy read. The beginning starts off pretty cliched--down on luck attractive girl meet crazy woman, attractive husband and you can visualize that portion BUT then the writer switches perspective and the story shifts unexpectedly and it changes the whole tone of the book in a really great way. Although parts of the ending were not a shocker, I still enjoyed the writing style, ease of reading and ways the author shifted the perspective. All in all, a great thriller! Totally met my expectations of what of what I want in a thriller.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
4.5 stars! Great read! I did feel as if it was slightly predictable, but that didn’t ruin it for me. Great plot!! The characters were written well into the story. Thouroughly enjoyed this one.
Millie has been down on her luck after a recent stay in prison. She’s finding it difficult to get back into the workforce after multiple employers are unable to look past her criminal record. Fortunately, she lands a phenomenal opportunity working as a maid for a well to do family.
Just as Millie thinks her luck is turning around, her new boss, Nina, makes sure to make Millie’s life interesting.

This is a really great read - lots of tension and twists and turns - I read it in one sitting. The characters were great and it is definitely a book that’s hard to put down.
