I just discovered @fizzziatrist this year, and I’ve been binging her books ever since. I love how dark and twisted they are. This story had some similarities to The Wife Upstairs, but I enjoyed every second of it. I read the entire book in one sitting, and while I’ll likely have some trouble getting up when my alarm goes off tomorrow, I have no regrets 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for the arc in exchange for my opinion..

Millie is fresh out of jail and in desperate need of a job and Nina is a wealthy suburban mom in desperate need of a maid- or maybe more then that…
Millie takes the job as Housemaid to the Winchester family under the assumption she will do cleaning, light cooking and a bit of childcare but will live upstairs in the families attic. It seems a little strange at first. She thought she would stay in the guest room but against her judgement she goes along with it.
Not long after she starts, she realizes her boss Nina, is off the chains. Mentally and verbally abusive and down right nuts. Not to mention a total slob!!! I kept finding myself so annoyed by Millie who continues to take such abuse from Nina! I couldn’t understand why anyone would stay in a job that they were some jerked around in. I mean I got she had to keep employment for her parole but come on. This stuff was like gaslighting as it’s finest! But you know, it was not what it seemed. The story really jumps off around the middle part!! I’m glad I keep chugging along.
The housemaid was a simple mystery by Frieda McFadden. I say that because it was not complex. If you were a fan of Behind Closed Doors by B.A.Paris you may really enjoy this one.
I found it to be a quick read- less than 2 days and I breezed through and had it all straight after the mid point! I liked the short chapters and even the slight humor from Millie who was a typical 20 something.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC

And I give you my first 5 star of the year! I am pretty stingy with 5 stars and don’t give them out very often. In order for a book to be 5 stars, it must absolutely BLOW ME AWAY and well, this book did just did that. It’s been a few days since finishing it and I still can’t get out of my head. It will be one of the rare books that stay with me forever.
I love when a book derails from the direction I initially thought it was headed in. Buckle up and get ready to be turned upside down because the TWISTS are about to rush all of your blood to your head and blow your mind. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Freaking bravo Freida McFadden. Bravo!!!

This domestic thriller is a page turner and I couldn’t put it down! The author’s familiar, relatable writing style immediately drew me into this compelling book. No spoilers…highly recommended.

Thank you Net Galley for a ARC in exchange for an honest review. I love a good page turner where the plot twists are as twisted as the main characters. Freida McFadden does a great job setting the scene and developing characters that are all just a bit questionable but only reveals enough about each character to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed the shift to another character perspective in section 2 and how it all eventually comes together in section 3 for a disturbingly satisfying conclusion. I will definitely be checking out other titles by this author. .

What a book! Very intense and the twist(s) were quite good. The ending was not expected and unusual. I am very curious to read more from this author.
Thanks Netgalley for the free copy in exchange of an honest review.

Wow! That was fun! This is the kind of book you think you have read before and still it is so entertaining and captivating that you are glued to it and turn the pages eagerly until you get to the very satisfying ending.
Millie has had not much luck in her life. She is living in her car at the moment after she lost her last job. Without much hope she applies for the job of a live-in housemaid for a very rich family. She is over the moon when she actually gets the job. Nina Winchester seemed like a nice woman when they met but soon it turns out she is a nutcase. Her daughter Cece is spoiled rotten. Only her husband Andrew seems so nice and caring and soon Millie has a huge crush on him. Millie fantasizes about changing places with Nina and living her life with a handsome and rich husband. But as always, you have to be careful what you wish for. And Millie herself has some secrets to keep.
During the first half I was sure I’ve read at least one book with a similar storyline. A young woman working for a rich family which seems to be dysfunctional and developing a crush on the husband. That does not sound like a brand new story idea. Nevertheless did the book not fail to entertain me. Especially when the second part begins it gets more interesting. At first Millie seems a bit flat as a character. She is swooning over handsome Andrew until I could not stand to read the word “handsome” anymore. But she has a much darker side which we get to see later in the book. The ending is quite satisfying and has a nice little twist to it.
This was an entertaining read. I enjoyed it and I would read another book from this author.

I absolutely loved this book but I'm a huge fan of Freida McFadden's. About half way through the book I thought I'd figured it out but woah! What a twist! I sure didn't see that coming. I highly recommend this book.

This book is fabulous! I couldn’t put it down after I started it. It’s the perfect domestic thriller with lots and lots of twists. One of my favourite reads this year and a must read for anyone who likes this genre.

This book was literally amazing! I’ve read other thriller books and they cannot compare. Unfortunately I don’t want to go into book details because i could ruin the book for others. It’s definitely a MUST read. It is chilling and at points made me think I was going to have to sleep with the lights on! It’s written so well that I could feel every emotion of each character and it was a wild ride. I’m still reeling from the ending. I cannot wait to read more from this author. Safe to say, I’d recommend this book to everyone.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC.
Not everything is as it seems in this suspense novel.
A slow burn, I held my breath through the first half filled with dread about what was to come of Mille, the housemaid. I actually had to pause before beginning part II! The suspense built to an ultimately satisfying twist, and just when I thought I’d figured it out, what was actually beneath the surface twisted even deeper and was more sinister than I could imagine! I was wickedly fascinated by the depths of darkness within each character. It added to the overall complexity of the story and I’m still wondering about them even after finishing.
As always, a satisfying “finish-in-one-sitting” read from McFadden. I clung to the pages until the very end.

This is a fast-paced read-in-one-sitting book if I've ever read one! That ending! This is my first Frieda McFadden book, but it won't be my last.
Thanks so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy.

Thrilling and keeps you guessing, this is another hit by Freida! Holy smokeballs I never figured out the twists and turns this book takes you down. If your into multiple points of view with unreliable narrators, grab this one. I also enjoy when chapters are not too long and you just keep thinking to yourself what’s one more chapter? I finished it in a day. This is my second book by this author and it won’t be my last. I got lots of Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware vibes and have been looking for a similar style since that one came out. This one did not disappoint.

Freida McFadden can always be guaranteed to deliver a domestic thriller with an extra sizzle! The author takes on a premise I’ve read before and changes it up to make a far better novel with several twists I really didn’t expect. Tightly written and fast paced to keep you reading well into the night. Excellent.

The characters in this 5-star read wear more masks than you’d find at a Venetian carnival!
Seinfeld fans will remember “The Bizarro Jerry” episode. On the surface, everything seems the same. Normal. In reality, it’s a Bizarro World where nothing’s quite right.
That’s kind of like Wilhelmina ‘Millie’ Calloway’s world right now.
This swanky Long Island neighbourhood is holding a secret….and it’s about to swallow another victim. Good thing she isn’t really who she pretends to be.
What an amazing ride! I jumped ship multiple times with who I trusted and who I thought was telling the truth. I was manipulated and deceived. My jaw was on the floor. My heart was pounding. THIS is what I love most about psychological thrillers!
I can’t believe I’ve never read a book written by Freida McFadden. She easily won me over with her clever, twisty and deliciously dark read. The characterization was superb. The plotting was exemplary. The ending was out of this world.
The best psychological thriller I’ve ever read!
I’m still smiling.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this masterpiece. I was thrilled to be granted access to this advance copy by Freida McFadden, Bookouture and NetGalley. I was under no obligation to provide this review.

4.5 stars
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to review the advanced readers copy. Umm I DEVOURED this book. I started it last night and when I went to bed I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was able to finish it today. I loved the build of the plot and the twists. I was not expecting how things turned out!

I heard great things about this book so I couldn’t wait to read this. The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden.
Millie has just been fired from her job and is living in her car. She finds hard getting a job as she is an ex-convict. Who would give her a job? But she is surprised when she is offered a job by Nina Winchester as a Housekeeper/nannie to her, and daughter and her husband Andrew.
But when she starts things start to go wrong. Nina is a force to be reckon with and always a slob that just leaves everything lying around and quite nasty to her. But she takes it all her stride as she needs this job. She cooks and cleans for them and then goes to her little attic room which she notices locks from the outside. But she realises to late when she gets locks inside. There are secrets that the Winchesters are hiding. But little do they know that she has hiding secrets of her own.
Thank you Bookouture for a copy of the housemaid. Wow this is a brilliant mind-blowing story that I can’t wait to read more from this author. This is an intense thriller that you think you can predict what is going happen but takes a different turn that you didn’t see coming. Loved it. It kept me on my toes throughout. 5 stars from me.

Download this ARC and finished in a day...that's how much I loved this one! The Housemaid was high up on my wish-list after seeing it a lot on Instagram and I can totally see why there is so much hype about it.. The plot held my interest throughout and when I thought that I had it figured out, I was wrong. I love that in a book and this was a great psychological thriller that keeps the reader guessing and turning the pages to find out what happens next. Highly recommend! Thanks so much to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for a copy.

What a roller coaster this book was! Wilhemina/Millie was hired for a job as a house maid that she never thought that she was qualified for. Nina and Andrew seem to have the perfect marriage, with a perfect house, so this was a dream come true for ex-con Millie to be hired, and to live in there.
The only bumps in the road seem to be their bratty daughter Cecelia, and the crazy mood swings Nina has. Millie can never seem to please her, no matter how clean she keeeps the house, and no matter how many gourmet meals she makes. The books is told from alternating points of view between the two ladies, and when you get to Part III, you will never believe the crazy twist it takes. There were a couple of plot gaps, but they were easy enough to get past if you love Frieda McFadden books like I do!!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review! I have already seen a lot of good reviews on this book and it earned them. It isn't going to be a favorite thriller but it was a solid well done ride! Definitely worth reading for sure!
