I actually really enjoyed this book. I loved Frankie, she was such a chaotic character, at times I was laughing out loud at her. I liked Max, even though I couldn't put my finger on something at the beginning about him.

I thought it worked well and the pacing was good. Some parts I found a little repetitive but it was still a very good book.

I do remember enjoying this book, but as I finished reading it a month ago and forgot to come back right away to write my review, I have forgotten some of the plot points, so I can't give a very specific review. I know I read it very quickly, which is always a good sign of me being hooked on a book. I will definitely be open to reading any of Ms MacIntosh's books in the future!

Frankie is a relationship journalist for Stylife magazine. When a new editor comes in to clean house, Frankie knows she has to step up her game. Articles on online dating have been done to death, but is it still possible to meet someone in real life? Are meet-cutes just for the movies? As she arranges various meet-cute opportunities around town, she's met with hilarious failed results. That is, until she gets stuck with Max in the elevator...
I really enjoyed laughing at Frankie's failed attempts. The friendship and flirty banter she has with Max was fun and their time in Hawaii was like a little vacation getaway for myself. But I thought Max was a bit hypocritical when Frankie's truth came out considering the whopping lies he told her and his family though. Overall, it was a great reading escape.
I I received an advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

This book had me smiling and laughing and crying because I was smiling so wide and laughing so hard.

Frankie is a romance writer at a lifestyle magazine but is woefully unlucky in love herself. She is talked with finding out if the perfect meet cute can lead to real love and we embark on an adventure where she tried to set up meet cutes.

Although she keeps setting up these meet cutes she's a little unaware that te perfect guy might be the one she got stuck with in the elevator and that might have been their idéal meet cute moment. Because he works in the same office for a tech magazine Frankie's boss thinks office romance won't entice their readers until our hero proposes a vacation which is nothing like what Frankie could have ever anticipated.

There was a lot of funny and comedic moments and it sucked me in completely and I devoured this book.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was fun, sweet and held my interest. I wanted to find out what would happen. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.

There were parts of this book that were cute and enjoyable. There were other parts that I found funny. Overall though, I found the storyline a little chaotic. There were a lot of things going on at all times that made the storyline feel a little disjointed. It felt as though the author was trying to throw as many twists and tropes in as possible. I would have preferred a more streamlined plot. There was just too much going on for my liking. Also, when the romance really started happening, I didn’t find it believable. There was enough emphasis on the actual relationship, getting to know each other and growth. Overall, this one didn’t do it for me.

This was by far one of my favorite books by Portia MacIntosh. It literally had me laughing out loud in several spots. If you enjoy great rom-coms, this is one you want to read. I spent half the book wondering, "What could possibly go wrong next?" Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book. You will laugh, and you may cry just a little bit.

I like Portia Macintosh but this book was a miss for me. It was still enjoyable but definitely not one of her best. There was a bit too much going on with the plot that it felt all over the place and overwhelming. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read it!

Frankie George is a mid thirties journalist still writing the Love and Dating section of the woman magazine. In an effort to impress her new editor and secure a promotion she devises a plan to have real life “meet cute” to find love. Will Frankie finally have her movie meet cute or will she be so busy searching for it that she misses what’s right in front of her?

What a truly stunning read this book is and Portia never fails to disappoint. Heart warming and beautifully written.

What a fabulous, fun, fast read this was! I fairly flew through this book, laughing all the way, so enjoyable was it. A really fresh, funny, frenetic book.

Okay, I’ve run out of adjectives beginning with the letter ‘f’ to describe this story now, so I better get in to the meat of the review. This is a really joyous, light-hearted romantic comedy that will whisk you from London to the sandy shores of Hawaii and the bright lights of LA, following the romantic catastrophes of Frankie George. Frankie is the dating columnist on a women’s magazine and her new boss is demanding fresh ideas from Frankie for her column, or the threat of unemployment dangles over her. But Frankie has exhausted all the tired dating routines, so what can she do. Explore some tired movie dating tropes instead, of course.

Frankie is a disaster area when it comes to love, so none of the things she tries run smoothly, which leads to much hilarity for the reader. Portia has a wicked imagination when it comes to awkward scenarios to drop Frankie into. The dog in the park and the date with Tom had me snorting into my tea. Snorting with laughter was a mainstay of this book, which is always a point in a novel’s favour. But alongside this runs the serious issue of why Frankie’s love life is so tragic, and the sweet relationship which builds between herself and Max.

The author does a really fab job of muddying the waters in the book as to who Frankie will end up with, in the middle I was convinced it might go a different way, but the ending made me very happy. There is nothing not to enjoy here, it contains all the perfect ingredients for the ideal romcom – high jinks, beautiful settings, relatable characters and an ending to melt the stoniest of hearts. Fabulous from start to finish.

“Don’t ignore what’s around you because you’re so focused on what you’re trying to move closer to”

Pack you suitcases! We’re going to Hawaii! Sounds nice, right? In the absence of a real vacation I settled for second best and flied there with Portia MacIntosh’s latest novel, The Meet Cute Method. And one thing it has a ton of is cuteness!

It’s not a secret I’m a big fan of her books. I’ve never rated one of them lower than 4 stars (and I’ve read quite a few), and The Meet Cute Method was not the exception. It is another great lighthearted romance, paying homage this time to classic rom-com movies with a series of hilarious, romantic and sometimes straight bonkers meet-cutes that had me smiling the whole book.

Frankie writes about love and dating for a women’s magazine, but her love life is far from a success. When her new boss asks her to write about meeting people the old fashioned way she’ll have to come up with several meet-cute scenarios to demonstrate you don’t need a phone app to find love, although it will soon prove trickier than she expected.

The story goes through several tropes of the genre (friends to lovers, fake dating, second chances) but it does it in a really natural way, not feeling forced at all. It’s not as if the author was trying to cram as many things as possible into the story but the logical way for the story to develop.

When you think things could not get any better the action moved to Hawaii and that was my favorite part of all. Not only was it a gorgeous location that made me wish I was there (I’ll even settled for a non 5 stars resort), but I just loved Frankie and Max’s whole inner journey while in there. I loved both of them so much, both individually and together. Despite a rocky start and some hiccups they had such great chemistry.

If you’re in the mood for some light read that will leave you with a smile on your face and a warm feeling, a Portia MacIntosh novel is always a sure bet.

Another super-entertaining romcom from my favourite author Portia MacIntosh! As usual, it's a fast, humorous read that will make you laugh out loud, but there's also underlining kindness and focus on real feelings.
Highly recommended.

This was my first book by this author and what a great book to start with.

Before I get carried away this really started with Addison, a new editor at Stylife who has been given the task of shaking things up. Replacing former editor Jane who was about to promote Frankie, she is cutting staff and showing no mercy.

During a staff meeting, the only good idea comes from relationship expert (irony in it’s best form) Frankie and she suddenly finds herself Addison’s new pet project. Dating the old fashioned way via meet cutes rather than online and via an app.

Frankie is an absolute disaster when it comes to dating and the scrapes she got herself into when trying to set up meet cutes were brilliant, especially the dog in park scenario. These men are missing out as I found Frankie completely adorable and I fell in love with her, blue tongue and all.

Then there was Max, Paul Rudd lookalike who works for a tech company in the same building. Finding themselves stuck in a lift it’s the perfect meet cute. It’s just a shame that Frankie missed seeing that.

Then the book took a complete turn and Frankie ends up in tropical paradise and posing as a fake fiancée. I love the fake dating trope as it always leads to so much fun and games. Poor Frankie who can barely scrape rent suddenly has to pretend to the family of a billionaire that she’s a spinal surgeon. Hard to do, especially with your bum on show and the odd boob slip.

This was sweet and funny, with glamour, private pools and a super yacht. Brimming with misadventures and a protagonist that you hope gets the happy ever after.

This is my fifth Portia MacIntosh's book and I must say it is not my favourite one.

Don't get me wrong though: I still had a great time reading it, it still is full of her hilarious sense of humour and it still is an easy, funny rom-com. So yes, definitely dig into it if you're looking for a cute, extremely funny rom-com, but also have a look at other books by the same author (my favourites: Life's a Beach and No Ex Before Marriage).

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really wasn´t in the mood to read a romance but I have to admit that is really fast to read. This was my first Portia read and I really enjoyed it.

Read this book if you like: Closed door romance, fake dating, short chapters, fast paced reads, How To Lose A Guy vibes

Frankie is 34 and single. She is a lifestyle jounalist who is attempting to write about love but doesn't have it herself. She wants it but all of her attempts to be failure. Her new boss demands something edgy from her. Frankie comes up with the idea of setting up meet cutes in order to find somebody then write about her experience doing so.

Then, she meet Max. Max is sweet, funny, and of course, handsome. He works for a tech magazine in the same building. They find themselves trapped in a stalled elevator and keep bumping into each other. Max asks Frankie on a 2 week vacation to Hawaii because he doesn't want to go alone. All expenses paid how can she say no. Hawaii ends up being not a normal vacation but really a family reunion.

I honestly had a hard time with Frankie at first because I didn't like her. She tried too hard to seem quirky and different. She grew on me though. I loved Max so shortly I loved her too. This book was so funny. I love the way that Portia writes. I wanted a little more of the romance between Frankie and Max but the end was perfect. I definitely recommend this book.

This comes out today! Thank you to NetGalley, the author Portia MacIntosh, and Boldwood Books for my gifted copy. ❤

First of all, I want to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

The Meet Cute Method was just the light read I was looking forward to. The short chapters made it a quick read, yet left me wanting to continue the story.

If you like fake dating, pop-culture references and quirky main characters, the Meet Cute Method is definitely for you.

Frankie is on a mission to get promoted and move into a new apartment. Her solution? Setting up Meet Cutes to fall in love just like in the movies. But during the game, the rules change and she needs to get her priorities straight. Because while she's busy setting up Meet Cutes left and right, she misses what's right in front of her.

As a leading lady, Frankie was relatable and therefore I rooted for her, wanting her to succeed at finding happiness in different areas of her life.

I give this book 3 stars because the first 25% of the book was fun to read. However, it kind of took me away from the main story and connection between Frankie and Max. Although needed for setting up the story and Frankie's life, I think this was a tad bit too long.

This was my first Portia read and I absolutely loved it. I loved the story and the descriptions of Hawaii have got me looking at holidays! Definitely won’t be my last book I read of hers!

The Meet Cute Method by Portia McIntosh is a frequently funny novel about Frankie, a lifestyle writer who is attempting to write about love, although the attempts typically end in failure. When her magazine changes ownership, Frankie is faced with a cutthroat editor, Addison, who believes that Frankie’s idea of arranging “meet cutes” in order to find love is the most original idea that’s been floated before her. Unfortunately, Frankie just mentioned the idea off-the-cuff and has no idea of where to begin, a fact which becomes painfully–sometimes for the reader–obvious.

As rom-coms go, The Meet Cute Method is frequently top-notch. The only hindrance is the main character, Frankie, who sometimes has the awareness of a door knob not to mention she’s 34 going on 20 (or younger). Despite being in the company of a Paul Rudd doppelganger, she’s flirting with nearly every man in sight, supposedly in the name of work despite the fact that work is supposed to be about the Paul Rudd doppelganger—who does have a name, btw, Max. If this were a mystery, Frankie would definitely be the too-stupid-to-live-type.

However, The Meet Cute Method made me laugh. A lot. And, although I might not tolerate reading about characters like Frankie all the time, for the laughs I am willing to to put up with her and rate it higher, despite her.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Frankie is a journalist, writing about dating and love for a magazine. But when her new article is about meeting men and falling in love the 'old fashioned way' and what we see in the movies, each scenario leads from one disaster to another,
That is until she meets Max, but Frankie can't seem to see the man in front of her or the scenarios that lead her to love until it's all too late.

This is a novel with a great narrative and some insane scenes; one that left me crying of laughter. This narrative kept me guessing about what would happen next, and I love that.

Some of the characters were ruthless and a love-hate relationship was created, but others, like Max, you couldn't help but fall in love with.

This is definitely a novel to add to your TBR and one I am glad I bumped up my list.
