This picture book tells the story of a young child who wants to learn how to fly a drone. Throughout the story several safety rules and tips are shared to ensure that young readers interested in drones realize that there is a responsibility associated with learning to fly these fun but slightly dangerous objects. I would recommend this book for families and teachers of children in the 5-12 age range, especially for any children who are interested in buying or have received a drone and are excited to fly it. The text is fairly simple, making this "rule book" accessible for most readers and the story book style helps make it less intimidating or boring for drone lovers who just want to get out there and fly! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book!
In this day and age of greater drone usage by the general public, this book serves as an excellent 'how-to' of playing by the safety rules. Chris Mather, the author, weaves those rules adroitly into story form in such a way that children can be made aware of them, yet not be bored to tears by a droning-on list of do's and don'ts. Extra kudos and salute because it is a father engaging with his two sons - spending valuable and constructive quality and quantity time with his offspring. Colorful pictures augment the story line. Included at the end of the book is word search fun using word associations to flying drones and aviation. A drone safety song is also suggested, to which children may listen.
Great going, Chris Mather! Short, sweet and to the point!
