Really enjoyed Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross. Dark and twisty the story really pulls you in. A five star read from me.

This book was one that the more I read the more I was finding myself wrapped up in the whole thing. It’s a thriller that keeps you guessing and on your toes the whole time.
When Sarah Larsen sees a notice stating “Nanny needed. Discretion is of the utmost importance. Special conditions apply.”, she gets excited about it. Especially when she notes the exclusive address. She’s in a dead end job right now and the bill collectors are calling her non-stop. This could be the answer to all her troubles.
She has an interview and everything seems perfect. The apartment is a penthouse on the Upper West Side of New York City, the salary adds a whole bunch of zeros to what she is currently making, and the woman who is potentially going to be her boss is incredible. She’s so elated about the job she signs the NDA without giving it a second thought. Perhaps she should have.
As she begins her job she starts to realize that something is very off about the Bird family. Mrs. Bird never leaves the apartment alone and what exactly happened to the nanny before her? Sarah realizes that it’s not just the wealth and eccentricities that account for their very strange behaviors.
This book was really very good. It’s not what I was expecting which made it that much better. It takes you places you didn’t see coming and even if you do sort things out or a few things anyway you’re still in for a mighty bumpy ride with Sarah the whole time.
This is a great book and I would recommend it.
I did get a copy of the audiobook version of this book through NetGalley for review. I loved it. I loved the narrator's voice but I did find that there were some pauses between words at times that were a bit off putting. I listen at a pretty high speed so maybe it was that but I don’t think so. Still, that voice was fantastic and still conveyed the story perfectly pulling you in with every word.

Audiobook review - Nanny Needed, Georgina Cross.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a bone-chilling thriller to wake you up on a morning. Nanny books have been done to death yet this one was completely unique. I truly wasn’t expecting this to be as entertaining as it was!

Sarah Larsen loves with her fiancé but the bills have piled up. She spots a job vacancy for a nannying role with the Birds (Colette and Alex) and couldn’t resist applying for the job with the salary given. Despite her lack of experience, the Birds hire her right away but something is off. After several “nannying” shifts, she still has not met the little girl she is caring for but instead sits with her mum for the entire afternoon. She soon starts to realise that this is no nannying job but something rather unhinged. However, upon signing for her job she did not read the small print and now there’s no escaping this hellhole.

This book has me guessing right from the start. What’s wrong with the girl? Who are this family? Why can’t the mother leave the house? I honestly did not expect half of what this book threw at me and that’s why I liked it so much. It was honestly not like any other book I have read. I always love it when thrillers have an element of psychology in them as I think it gives the characters more depth.

Throughout the story, there was characters I loved (Jonathan) and characters I HATED (I ain’t saying) which is what made this story great for me. The plot line was great and extremely fast-paced. Something happened every chapter and the story building a very short which kept me engaged throughout.

The thing that let me down was the “OH BIG REVEAL” at the end. For some reason, a “character tells all” just doesn’t bode well with me. I like more of a slow burn characters find clues type of reveal. The baddie step forward now type of thing just isn’t for me. I wanted more hints dropped throughout. Although, I did cotton on early to one of the “big reveals” though I won’t say.

Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable and suspenseful thriller and definitely added an element of flavour to an already oversaturated “nanny book” area. Also, give it up for the performer because she was phenomenal.

I've recently started getting into audiobooks and I love them. I listen to them whilst im doing mundane chores and they really do help the time pass.

I really enjoy listening to my favourite genres, thrillers and horrors. When I seen this audiobook I knew I'd really enjoy it, the thought of inviting a woman into your home and trusting her with your children but she has sinister intent terrifies me. I was curious to find out what it is she wanted and I finished this audiobook within two days I couldn't stop listening to it, I was sad when I had finished it.

A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I really loved listening to this book, but I found it a little predictable. I kept going because I really enjoyed the narration and was glad I did this one as an audiobook.

I wasn’t able to predict all of the twists, but I did predict the big one. NDA or not, I do not think this could happen today and it was a little over the top, but reading is essentially entertainment and not reality.

This left me feeling a little confused. The premise of the story was not a good one, however if the ending had been explored more during the main body of the book it may have caught my attention a little more.

Unfortunately it just felt like the entire novel was centred around the manipulation of a mentally ill woman by those who should be caring for her.

I loved this audiobook!
It's another one where I kept finding things to do that would enable me to keep listening!
The narrator was superb, a truly engaging voice and my attention never wavered.
The plot was great, keeping the suspense high throughout and a killer ending!
Highly recommend.

A woman struggling to pay off debts incurred by looking after her ailing aunt finds herself offered a job that seems too good to be true. All she has to do is stay home with a woman and her three year old daughter every day in their gorgeous house, and play games with the child. How hard can it be? Alas, she doesn't read the small print in the contract - special conditions apply - and despite her employers becoming increasingly erratic, she has no choice but to see out the three months that she has signed up for.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was eerie, tense and also sad, and while I don't think many of the plot twists were particularly surprising, they were entertaining. My one complaint is that the final 10% of the story turned extremely silly. It didn't really make sense, and I didn't think what happened would actually have been possible. It's a shame because I think it would have been a better story without this overly sensational ending.

The narrator did a good job and I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross Narrated by: Emma Ashton was a brilliant psychological thriller, However, I did not like the narrator: Emma Ashton, she did not give this book justice. I stopped listening to her after 3 chapters and ended up reading the book and it was brilliant especially as I wanted to find out what happened. Not all the characters are likeable but they all played their parts well.

I recommend this book but sadly not the audiobook.

Big thank you to NetGalley and especially to Avon for that much appreciated arc in return for an honest review

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me this arc

Maybe due to listening to this as an audiobook and not reading it caused me to lose interest in the novel but I must say the concept was good but I could feel myself not fully ummersibg into the nocel

Sarah finds herself in New York, after her beloved auntie passes away, waiting on tables with boyfriend John. Knee high in debt, she applies to a flyer left in her apartment for a nanny’s position and lands herself a job with the Birds, a prestigious, rich family, with no experience. It’s a dream job, isn’t it?

I received an audio copy of this novel and really enjoyed it. Great storyline with engaging characters and natural dialogue. There are plenty of cliffhanger chapter endings to keep you turning the pages. Some nice twists along the way and a fantastic ending. The narration is superb. Would recommend to fans of domestic psychological thrillers.

This story as it unfolds is disturbing yet compelling, full of twists from start to finish I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller, it was very different to the most recent nanny books I have read which all seem to have the same story line, abit far fetched at the end but still a very good listen. The narrator was great

The job seems like a dream come true: nannying in a glamorous penthouse apartment with a salary that adds several zeroes to her income.

Sarah signs the contract binding her to complete secrecy without a second thought. These are important people, after all - they can't be too careful about who they let into their home.

All is well until events in Sarah's life begin to take a sinister turn and the trail leads back to the Birds. She soon realises there's something very strange about the family.

So I found this a little outlandish, I can't say much as I don't want to spoil it. I didn't gel with any of the characters, not a bad thing, and I never knew who to trust. It really threw me with some of the twists.

This book was amazing. I could tell from thecstart that I was going to love it as it had my gripped. It was packed full of twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did an excellent job at creating an immense sense of atmosphere and tension held within its pages. I loved the fact that this book was so dark and twisty. I took to the characters from the beginning and the flow of the story just made for brilliant reading experience. This book was my favourite type of thriller its so unpredictable that you just can't wait to get to the end and see if your best guesses were correct and mine was not. I just have to mention here how amazing the ending was. Wow. But I'm not giving anything away. You will just have to take my word for it that it's BRILLIANT!!!!. I even found myself saying out loud NO WAY! I will definitely be looking out for more books by this fantastic author.

So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this exceptional novel that will definitely be staying in you mind for some time. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves psychological thrillers, this book is a must read book.

Nanny Needed. After the slow and tedious first half of the book, with cliche characters, repetitive dialogue and numerous descriptions of everyone’s clothing, the second half was full of ridiculous unrealistic twists. What a huge disappointment!

Sarah gets her dream job as a nanny with a great salary, but soon starts to see that things in the Bird household are not quite what they seem.

I've read a few nanny thriller recently but this one was totally different. Batshit crazy is the phrase that springs to mind .... but in a good way :-) It's fast paced, bizarre and quite disturbing but also great fun. My jaw dropped at some of the revelations!

I enjoyed the narration by Emma Ashton.

Not the best audio book I have listened to but not the worst either
This book started off well and it got you wanting to know what the issues with Collette Bird really are and what is the actual plot of the book
This book has got some really good reviews so maybe it was just me that couldn't get into it but I found it a disappointment and too far fetched to happen

I enjoyed this audiobook, but I did guess a few of the plot twists - especially the ones at the end! Sarah is a young woman, living in New York struggling with the debts left from her aunt’s cancer treatment. When she sees an advertisement left in her lobby for a nanny, she is intrigued. The restaurant that she works in with her boyfriend does not pay well and they are being hounded for money. A phone call to the number listed leads her to the luxurious penthouse of the Bird family. Are things really as good as they seem? .A good read.
