I really loved this novella! A great start for a series. The romance between the main characters was super sweet and I particularly enjoyed how the hero treat the heroine!
Highly recommend this one for a quick read with banter and steam scenes. Looking forward to read the rest of the series.

I don't think this one worked for me as well as the others in the series, or really, most of Nix's other work. I'm not entirely sure why -- the main characters were just a bit .. not fun to spend time with? It also felt kind of slight and traded in a lot of overused tropes in a way that was really underwhelming.

Short, sweet and addicting - the kind of book that demands to be read in on sitting! Normally I find it difficult for fiction this short to fully pull me in, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go, but I think it delivered everything it promised

This was such a quick, fun romance. Actress Kimberleigh has plenty of secrets she hides from the public, so it's no surprise she and entertainment reporter Spencer got off on the wrong foot after a disastrous interview early in her career, but when she has a panic attack and Spencer helps her, they both learn there's more to the other person than they had thought.

Star Bright is a wonderful romance story set in the glamorous Hollywood.

Enemies to lovers that jump from hate to Instant Love in just a few moments? I’m here for it all. More so, I always loved a great story between a starlet and a reporter. They both have a common ground to walk through and know all about behind-the-scenes schemes.

I felt like their connection and chemistry was great and while it was quite fast paced, it just showed how much one can love change a one when the right person comes along.

I enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to read the next ones in the series as some of the secondary characters picked my interest.

Very grateful to the publisher and author for my review copy.

What a cute little novella! I definitely enjoyed this quick read about Kimberleigh, an A-list actress and Spencer, her reporter who she loathes. It was well written and had me glued, turning page after page and wanting more! What I thought would be a lighter read did have its angsty moments and I was so rooting for these two and their romance! It starts as an enemies to lovers story but does quickly jump to instant love. There is some spice in this book, but not as much as others. Also, trigger warning: panic attacks are featured. Overall, I really enjoyed this read and wouldn't hesitate to read others by this author!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Haver Street Press for the ARC of this book!

I flew through this book and quickly became lost in the world Nix created. The characters leapt off the page and I am now invested in this series and adding it to my TBR while recommending it to all my reader friends.

This is your typical cute enemies to lovers RomCom. I loved that it was a quick read, and that it has anxiety representation within it! I related a lot to Kimberleigh in the way that she didn't want to let anyone into her life for fear of getting hurt, as I think a lot of other people will as well. Also the little spice within the book made it just perfect!

Thank you NetGalley & Haver Street Press for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I appreciated the representation of anxiety and the way that it was handled. The behind the scenes of celebrity life was fun too. Unfortunately this book wasn’t a favorite. I was disappointed with the main conflict and I think I should just stop reading novellas because instalove just doesn’t work for me. If you like celebrity romance and quick reads, this may be your style. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for a free digital arc. I have enjoyed Susannah Nix’s King Family series, so I look forward to future books by her.

I loved the story and I liked that it was not so long, the dynamics and the chemistry between the characters and the ending, it was perfect and I can't wait to see how this series continues.

I loved this book. Kimberleigh made me sad with how closed off she was to people and it was amazing how Spencer helped her. It was sweet of him to help her in the beginning when she needed it. I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait to read the others in the series as well.

"When he said her name like that and told her these sweet things that sounded too good to be true, she believed he meant every word. Everything about Spencer was too good to be true. And yet, here he was, continuing to be real."

thank you NetGalley, Haver Street Press, and Susannah Nix for the arc copy!!

i adore these two together. their story is told in third person omniscient, switching off to focus on either kimberleigh or spencer. it adds such a different feeling to understanding everything going through their minds, while making u want to just reach out and help them both.

from the bat, you can tell that he is someone perfect for her. at some points i did believe that she wasn't putting as much effort or passion as he was, but she knew that she wanted him. spencer has to be a new top book boyfriend because, wow, he really gave his all. he knew exactly how to help and what to say to make everything okay. kimberleigh even says something along the lines of that. together, they completely blew off my expectations.

each character has their own traits that so easily make you drawn to them. the ones they share completely and utterly helped them bond so well and effortlessly. their first meeting has become one of my favorites to this day. so proud of what they've accomplished together and on their own. seeing how they change and grow>> in my opinion it wasn't even character development, but more like letting out who they really are. both amazing people inside and out.

one thing i didn't like was how some things were left completely undiscovered or brought up again. i understand this is a novella and less than 200 pages, but if something is brought up and then not explained later on, you just feel like a chunks missing from the story. them coming together was very rushed as long as other events, but susannah really makes you feel like it was the perfect time, so i won't complain. what she wrote to happen to them did make sense, but i feel as if they could've been handled better without miscommunication.

but in general, the feeling of this book really brings you into their world. i swear a tear fell from my eye at some point. i got a couple of evelyn hugo vibes, so if you loved the hollywood moviestar-ish aspect of that, you would eat up this book just like i did. honestly had the best time reading this.

1.5/5
I could not get into this book at all. I don't know I guess I just wasn't connecting with the characters which just made my attention span disappear. I was super excited to read this as a reporter and celebrity romance sounded super interesting to me. Unfortunately, I just don't think Kimberleigh and Spencer were a great match for each other. Their first interaction had me hopeful and I felt the tension and chemistry between the two of them but after that scene, it just seemed like their relationship was sex and only sex. With the way the blurb was worded I was expecting enemies to lovers but it definitely wasn't. Spencer helped her through a panic attack at the beginning of the story and then they met up again had sex and all of a sudden cared about each other so much and loved each other. It just didn't work for me and I felt like we never actually got to see their relationship develop. Overall I personally wouldn't recommend this book as I did have to force myself to finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first time reading something by this author and I really enjoyed it. The story caught my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through. This was a quick and easy read, but left quite an impression. Kimberleigh is a Hollywood star and has been through a lot to get where she is. Her career is very important to her and she takes care not to do anything that may jeopardize that. Spencer is a gossip reporter and he has hurt her in the past with some of his stories. But he has done some growing since those days and is more respectful. He's actually a pretty nice guy. And when he shows her kindness instead of exploiting her weakness, she begins to see a different side of him and these once enemies, start to become something more.
The romance was by no means easy, but still a lot of fun with plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout. The book definitely left me with a smile on my face and a happy feeling afterwards. The characters were interesting and well-developed with realistic qualities that gave them an authentic personality and were easily relatable. The story was delightfully cute with a little bit of steam. If you're looking for a fun, quick and light read, then you definitely will want to pick this one up.

I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This novella is perfect. The author put in so much information in this book. Star Bright is a prequel novella. Kimberleigh Cress is having an unfortunate moment and Spencer happens to be there while it’s happening. Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC !

This was a light and fun read set in the world of famous people and their never ending battle with the paparazzi. Kimberley is one of the hottest new actresses in Hollywood so her life is always fodder for the paparazzi and the worst of them all is Spencer Devlin.

When Kimberley has a panic attack at an event and hides in a room alone, to her horror the person who finds her is no other than Spencer Devlin. To her amazement he helps her to feel better and to get back to her hotel room. To Kimberley's surprise she finds that Spencer is not the news hungry sleazy reporter that she thought he was he is actually kind and gentle. Spencer is also surprised to find that under the ice queen exterior is a normal girl who he wants to get to know better.

But this is Hollywood and nothing is as it seems. Their fledgling relationship has to be kept under wraps for the sake of both their careers and they have to carry on acting like their usual selves while in the limelight when their attraction to each other is actually exploding into flames. As expected true love does not run smoothly for these two, but their determination to be together is admirable.

This is a sweet love story that proves that you cannot judge a book by it's cover.

What an amazing start to a series - Susannah Nix delivers another great book. If you love Hollywood romances, you’ll enjoy this book. Great character development and great anxiety rep. I can’t wait to continue this series.

I really wanted to love this book - it started off so strong and then the writing just fizzled. The beginning and the end don’t even feel like the same book. It is only 200 pages though, so a quick read if you want to try it.

Can you really find, but more importantly keep, love in Hollywood?

Less enemies to lovers and more rivals to lovers. Kimberleigh is a Hollywood actress and Spencer is an entertainment reporter. They had a bumpy first meeting and he's been blackballed by her management ever since. But a chance meeting when she's not feeling at her best leaves Kimberleigh vulnerable to Spencer. Will he take this advantage and hotwire his own career or will he be unexpectedly helpful?

Although the romance is quick to kick off in this book, they have actually been around and aware of each other for at least a year so it didn't feel like an insta-love to me more a finally-giving-in-to-the-sparks. I loved the way that Kimberleigh had her actress facade which helped her cope, much like the way Spencer used his charm as a facade to hide his own insecurities. This was a meeting of two fragile, cracked hearts.

A brilliantly empathetic way to show the stresses of Hollywood and life in general and the coping mechanisms that can be used. My fave scene between them was Spencer explaining his own name change - believe me I'd have changed that too LOL.

Quick read, enjoyable characters with great chemistry!

First off I just want to say that I love Susannah Nix. She is a great writer and I’m always excited to read whatever she has written. I would also like to say that I’m not a big fan of novella’s as you don’t really get to drive into the characters properly. Yes there were moments where I really felt for Kimberleigh and Spenser but I never felt that I saw their love grow.
Saying that, this was a lovely quick read if you wanted something light.
