Kimberleigh is an actress who doesn’t let anybody close, especially not reporters. Her least favorite reporter finds her in a moment of weakness and sparks fly.

This was a short, cute read, mostly focused on the main characters’ relationship. They are both workaholics with busy lives, but there is very little about that in the book. The premise is cute, but very predictable, and there’s very little character development.

This book was ok, I guess. The thing is I wasn't really hooked, even if the plot wasn't bad, and therefore I found it difficult to read it. I'm sure that people who enjoy more relaxed or slow books will love this piece but unfortunately, that was not my case. I wasn't able to finish it but the writing and the plot were good, I think it was just that I wasn't at the best moment to try to read it, which doesn't mean that you will not like the book so don't pay too much attention to this if it was just me who had this problem because I was kind of stuck in my current reads as it was.

Star Bright by Susannah Nix was a super cute, quick read! Kimberleigh is an A-list Hollywood Starlet and Spencer is a gossip reporter. I don’t like that the synopsis calls Spencer a “sleazy” tabloid reporter because that couldn’t be further from the truth. He proves that during a really vulnerable moment for Kimberleigh.

This book isn’t exactly insta-love, but it’s close. Considering how short the story is though, I think it worked. I do also think this book was written very well!

I definitely recommend Star Bright if you’re looking for a quick, cute rom-com, that will make you smile.

Cutesy and quick romance for when you want to read something short but sweet.

At first i was a bit skeptical because of how fast the romance was developing, as that is not my cup of tea, I prefer slow burns over fast romance, but in the end it didn’t disappoint me, the secret lovers romance trope gave everything it had to give and i loved some of the quotes that Spencer told Kimberleigh. It was my first book from this author and i really enjoyed, as i said the only flaw i see on this story is the fast romance, it would have been nicer if it had been slower, so we could’ve seen more of how their feelings for each other started developing when they allegedly hated each other. Overall 4 stars.

Very cute read. Enemies to lovers/secret lovers trope, which is something I will always adore. This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and I did enjoy it enough to finish it in one evening. My only complaints would be how quickly the romance progressed, I don’t feel like there was enough development of the characters. I also feel like it ended rather abruptly, one or two more chapters would have made it perfect.

Star Bright by Susannah Nix was a great story. I love Susannah Nix's writing. Kimberleigh and Spencer are both broken in their own ways, and together their hearts are mended. I loved reading their story!

I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Characters: 4/5
Writing: 4/5
Plot: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

This book is a super cute and short read. I ended up liking Kimberly, one of the main characters, a lot more than I thought I would. I also liked how it handled topics of mental health. If you're looking for a short and adorable read, this is the book for you!

This book in 3 words: Sweet. Quick. Funny.

Star Bright by Susannah Nix features Kimberleigh and Spencer, actress vs. content creator. A fun, enemies to lovers trope makes this a quick read.

Honestly, I loved the premise and what I got from the characters, but because it was so short… I had a hard time not rolling my eyes throughout. Most importantly, I don’t like how quick we actually jump in, right from the start.

The writing is good and I did finish this in one sitting. I enjoyed it but not sure how long I’ll be thinking about it after.

I was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)

Synopsis: Kimberleigh Cress is a cold and popular Hollywood actress that never shows weaknesses. Ever. Especially not in front of the press. Spencer Devlin is a tabloid reporter and Kimberleigh hates his guts because of an interview that went bad and viral. But when he comes upon her during a vulnerable moment, sexy, charming, and surprisingly thoughtful, Spencer Devlin isn’t at all who Kimberleigh thought he was. She can’t seem to stay away from him—even though she knows she should and he can't either.

Opinion: I'm not gonna lie. This book caught my eye at first for the spectacular cover that I adore but also because of the synopsis. My expectations were high. I thought I would enjoy and love this book so much but I ended it with mixed opinions. Because I saw the potential, it could really be so great like 4 or even 5 starts to me even the short length of the book, but then there were little tiny things, thoughts, expressions that got me out of the story and it was like "why?".

*Kind of spoiler*
I also was mad at one drama scene because I didn't understand (and possibly I will never) why people don't talk? And listen? And then make their decision? ARGG.

*Spoiler free again*
Final statement: This is just my opinion, so I encourage to read it because maybe you won't see this stuff I'm complaining and you actually enjoy it and discover a new saga you will adore.

A quick, and easy read! Kimberleigh and Spencer’s love was a love at first hate story that quickly sucked you in!

I enjoyed this fast paced romance that was a whirlwind love! They started off enemies but one fateful moment changed it all! I loved their connection and how well they were able to read each other! I wish we would’ve gotten more but what we did get was a beautiful bond between to broken people who found their comfort and peace in each other!

This light read was cute! I actually enjoyed this one, fully going into it I didn't think I would. The main character is great and well developed by the author. I think how the whole story played out was well written and left the reader wanting to keep turning the pages to see how this all panned out. I enjoyed the sarcasm and twists along the way. Kept me giggling then worried then content and happy with the ending!

I received this ARC to review from the publishers and NetGalley. All comments above are solely my true opinion after reading this book.

I was gifted this book from NetGalley and I was so happy to receive it because I already adore Susannah Nix’s books. This is a short and sweet story of the romance between an A-list Hollywood starlet and a Hollywood reporter. I would have loved a little more steam between the two characters and a little less time apart, but overall it was a quick and enjoyable read. I plan on reading the rest of the series.

Star Bright by Susannah Nix is an enemies to lovers romance set in Hollywood. A-level actress Kimberleigh despises Spencer ever since he interviewed her as part of a press junket for her movie. She'll never forgive him for bringing up sexist topics like how in shape her body was in that tight costume for her last movie roll. That is, until he shows his more sensitive side when she suffers a panic attack at a celebrity charity event and she realizes maybe she was wrong about him.

This is a short novel and all the romance elements are there in a compressed amount of writing. Because of the length of the book, I felt like the writing was all very surface level and I'm not sure how memorable the story will be for me in a few months. Regardless, if you are looking for a quick romance read, I recommend it!

CW: anxiety, panic disorder, trust issues

'Star Bright', is a novella expanding on short story 'Play the Part' as part of Susannah Nix's thoroughly enjoyable, Starstruck series.

Kimberleigh Cress is an A-list actress (who has appeared as a minor character in previous Starstruck books) who keeps walls up to protect herself from her life becoming fodder for the fame game. Spencer Devlin is a celebrity reporter who has had a run in with Kimberleigh after she calls him out during a live interview about sexist questions about her clothing (sound familiar?) and how he's pushed an actress friend to tears during an interview.

Their paths cross again at a charity event where Spencer ends up coaching Kimberleigh through a panic attack, something he's had first hand experience with.

I'm a sucker for a fictional celebrity story and this one hit the spot. Susannah Nix clearly has mined real life Hollywood examples to give it an authenticity. I very much enjoyed this romance being between two people where their jobs put them at odds with each other. Actors have a symbiotic relationship with the press - they need it to further their career, and yet that also makes every part of their personal lives tabloid fodder.

Spencer was delightful and caring, and once Kimberleigh was able to let go her of her suspicions and open herself up, she could see someone who was be in her corner. Both of them have had terrible childhoods and both of them have to put up a public face to hide their insecurities. I enjoyed how when she realises she's wrong, she knows how to grovel properly, something many books I think don't do well - a good grovel that demonstrates the character has changed.

This book has whet my appetite for the next Starstruck book due in a few months. I just hope we see Kimberleigh and Spencer lurking about in the background.

I really liked this book, I just wish it were longer. It seemed very open shut no real conflict other than the basic expected one and I wish it were longer and had more fluff

2.5 stars

The romance of this story is so sweet and I really loved it - the fluff, everything. I did. think some of Kimberliegh’s reactions were uncalled for, but then again I haven’t been through her experiences so… it’s difficult to explain.
As much as I loved this, it moved way too fast for me. Knowing that at the beginning of the night she hated him and at the end of the night she wanted to see him again and would call him to her house a couple days later and then basically go into a full on relationship is just not realistic at all. It was basically insta-love and I just don’t find myself enjoying that trope.

🎬The watch words are privacy & trust🙊

This was a good, solid romance with characters with conflicting interests quickly developing a secret romance. The female lead, Kimberleigh, is an established actress who wants to keep her non-professional life private and she expects her new beau, a Hollywood reporter, to cooperate. That works, for the most part, but...

I am one of the author's fans and read almost everything she writes. This one was a good, fairly short, romantic read with some heat but not a standout for me. The briefer length may have played into that because it made their relationship seem to be an insta-romance. There weren't many scenes with the couple together, what with their conflicting work schedules, the covert nature of their relationship and Kimberleigh's frequent work travel. The narrative fills in some gaps but I would have liked more scenes between them demonstrating their growing emotional connection.

Thanks to Haver Street Press and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I found Susannah Nix with her King Creamery series and have been hooked ever since! This a fast-paced, enemies-to-lovers story that will have you hooked from the very beginning. The character’s chemistry is fantastic!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy!

This was such a fun read, perfect for when you want something to devour in one sitting!

If you love a hollywood romance, this is definitely for you - the conflict was pretty standard to the genre but the romance was so good I couldn’t stop highlighting passages in the ebook!!

I wish the this was just a little longer - there were times when the pacing felt a little rushed or where I wished I was getting more details about the relationship but I get this is supposed to be novella length.

Thanks to Netgalley and the author for allowing me access to an arc of this book, I will definitely be on the look out for the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this one! Especially enjoyed reading Spencer’s chapters, he’s just the sweetest character.

The story was pretty short which I don’t mind but I do think that made it feel a bit rushed. I would have love a little more time to get to know the characters and their story. I think a few mor chapters would have given the story the opportunity to develop more and gain a bit more depth. With that said however I really enjoyed the story!
