Enemies to lovers read that left me hot myself. Such a fun read seeing Cassandra’s reaction to finding out who Blake was. Both of them have things in the past but Blake’s fake marriage causes some drama. When the two of them finally get together…lord have mercy! Hot!
I read the majority of this book on a flight, and polished off the rest in the first few minutes of the flight home! It's hilarious and heartfelt in equal measure, the perfect start to a series. By the time I landed, I was ready to purchase the next book, even before it had been released, just because i was that eager to spend a few more minutes in Quince Valley. I loved all of the characters, how they play together despite being so incredibly different from one another, and it was so refreshing to read a no-cheating love story that starts out with a married couple other than the HEA. More of this, please!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. I enjoyed the romance in this book. The characters are enjoyable. It has good LGBTQIA representation. This book is set in New York. I would definitely highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook is in stores for $4.99 (USD). This book is well written enemies to lovers romance.
What a great story this is. It is an enemy to lovers storyline but it’s not really a love-hate relationship between Cassandra (heroine) and Blake (hero). Blake is truly everyone’s hero. He is a hero to Lila and Brynn in so many ways. I just love him. He goes way beyond any friend I have or know. I also love him for his relationship with his father. I can relate and maybe forgiving my own is the way to go. Doesn’t mean I have to have a relationship with him. This story made me really think and I love that. Cassandra is a strong heroine. She doesn’t want to step over the boundaries of a work partnership with Blake until she learns the truth about him and Lila. This story was fresh and a different take on an enemies to lovers trope. I really liked it and can’t wait for the second book in this series to come out in June 2022.
is a STEAMY read with a fun meet cute at the top. Cassandra is the CEO of her family’s resort business. Her mom died and her dad unraveled a bit and spends his time traveling. Claire and her siblings are left to run the resort. She is taking a morning run by a river on the resort property and stumbles in the water. She’s a swimmer, athletic, doesn’t need saving. Blake is fishing nearby, sees it happen and goes in for the rescue. While Cassandra is at first completely turned off by the whole thing and embarrassed, she comes around and realizes that she did in fact need some saving.
The plot twist for Cassandra is that she later finds out that guy who rescued her also the husband of the husband/wife consulting team she just hired to help audit and turnaround the resort. Yet, despite being married, she knows he was most definitely attracted to her. She’s disgusted and wants to fire him ASAP. She’s also admittedly attracted to him, too. What to do?
This is where I tell you that there is no cheating and all things are not what they seem. I liked the book. I liked it more when Cassandra and Blake weren’t together and were dancing around each other. It is most definitely spicy when they do get together! The family dynamics are interesting and there are more books coming in this series. Worth a read, check it out!
Starts off with a bang (or in this case a plunge into a river) and the heat only grows from there. You will find yourself quickly growing attached to the spicy paring. It's an enemies to lovers romance with a twist that will keep you turning the pages. Eagerly anticipating the next book.
This book is well-written it just doesn't deliver the connection the characters should have to be so in love.
There's no cheating btw.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
New romance series set in Quaint Valley, Vermont featuring the Kelly siblings. This first book has the oldest sibling Cassandra hiring husband and wife consulting team Blake and Lila to help the floundering resort business she and her siblings have inherited. You meet the siblings along the way in varying degrees. Will definitely keep an eye out for future instalments.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Cassandra and Blake. Cassandra and Blake have a hookup. Cassandra hires a couple to help with accounting of the family hotel, Blake is the husband of the couple. There is a mutual attraction. They each have their issues but together they work them and fall in love.
This book is such a heart clenching emotional book. We have a fake marriage, enemy to lovers, and a slow burn romance. I love an enemies to lovers story and Level With Me is so good. The heat and chemistry between Blake and Cassandra sparks off the page and them trying to stay away from each other boils over in a spectacular way.
Claire Wilder writes these wonderful romances full of complicated characters and even more complex situations. She also creates worlds full of these people and situations.
I really enjoyed this story and the angst with the two main characters. The story was well written and now I need to read more of what Claire has written!
I was looking forward to this book, but I’m afraid it just didn’t live up to my expectations. It was an interesting premise, but ultimately I just couldn’t understand why the hero would keep himself in the situation he was in. I also wasn’t thrilled with all the internal struggling the characters went through. It seemed that they thought everything through way too much. The writing was fine, it started out really well, but I think there was just too much angst and internal dialogue for me to enjoy this one. That speaks more to my preferences than to the book itself, of course. The author is talented and I’m willing to give more books in the series a go.
I went into this book completely blind. I had no exciting reads and decided to go on a Netgalley requesting spree. Boy, do I not regret it.
Level with me walks us through the meeting of Cassandra and Blake. This is the first book that I have ever read with a plot like this. Both Cassandra and Blake were quite literally pushed together by fate. Although they can't be together because... BLAKE IS MARRIED. The journey of them getting together was enjoyable to see and don't worry THERES NO CHEATING! Seeing how kind and caring both Cass and Blake are is incredible to see. We can see how much love they truely hold for one another. Cass' family are also funny with interesting backstories and a nice addition to the book.
Now you're probably wondering why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. Well the reason would be that I was not fully invested into the book until about 30-40% in. I had a hard time getting into the book and being introduced to so many characters at once. I would also argue that at some points of the book were either a bit rushed or too slow. At times I was more interested in the side characters rather than the main couple.
Despite all of this I believe that Claire Wilder did an amazing job developing her characters, their personalities and backstories, as well as the plot. I can not wait to read the next book!

This book was read thanks to NetGalley
I really liked this book, it was nice that even if the synopsis implied cheating, it also leave clear that it doesn't have cheating on the book, which put my mind on an ease, and make me love this book, because I am a huge fan of people being imperfect, because is really nice to read books when the character have doubts about their actions because,we all are humans, so I really enjoyed.
Cassandra is the CEO of The Rolling Hills resort, which belongs to her family. But the resort is not doing very well. To help them fix this situation they hire two very famous and expensive consultants, Lila and Blake.
Cassandra and Blake are attracted to each other from the very first moment, which would be idea if he wasn't married to Lila!
I must admit I find this book a little bit boring in the beginning. But later, I quite enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this book by Claire Wilder. It was very well done and would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
When Cassandra is rescued by her knight in shining armor, the last thing she expects is for him to be part of the husband/wife team she just hired to help her save her family business. If there is one thing Cassandra won't tolerate, it's an unfaithful man. In an attempt to save face, Black admits to her that his marriage is a farce and Cassandra reluctantly agrees not to fire him.
This was a fun, easy read. I really liked Cassandra and Blake and overall have no real complaints. However, there also wasn't anything that stood out as being spectacular. Overall, I really enjoyed it but I don't see myself rereading it.
I will say that I did really find myself hating Lila. I understand that she was in a tough situation, but she barely gave Blake a choice when she held him to the promises he made while drunk, and then she continued to manipulate him into doing what was best for her. I had a lot of strong feelings about her and none of them were positive.
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
- Workplace romance
- Forbidden love
- Dual POV
- Spice
What I loved:
It is sort of a workplace romance with a relationship forming between consultant and his client with some forbidden love due to the arrangement that Blake has with his business partner.
I really loved that the FMC was tall. It’s not a body type that is frequently represented in romance books.
What I didn’t like:
This is an enemies to lovers book, however I felt that the trope was really mild in this book. It seemed that they were only enemies for a blip and even then, I wouldn’t describe them as enemies.
Overall:
I really enjoyed the book and I’m really looking forward to the next in the series!
Business just got real, and Blake and Cassandra are serving it on a hot little platter!
From the moment Cassandra fell (literally) for Blake, the tension and the chemistry between them were undeniable; even my heart was ready to take the plunge in this new series by Claire Wilder.
The plot, while simple mostly, was engaging and well balanced, setting the solid groundwork for a series laden with angst, drama, and family. Not to mention the dual POV, which added an extra touch of charm and temptation to this dual-sided affair of the heart.
Featuring two strong leads, a family united, and a history marked by complications and scars still healing, Level With Me was the perfect culmination of power and vulnerability, with a wounded heart borne on its sleeve. And I loved it!
The state of Blake’s fake marriage proved a complicated matter, his heart even more so, as evidenced by the enticing push and pull between him and Cassandra at every turn. The longing shared between them was spot on, and the stolen moments of intimacy were ELECTRIC! They seared their chemistry into the pages, and the instant spark was a fire set to burn out of control with every stolen moment alone. I loved the complexities of each character, the vulnerabilities that were shared, and the foundations established between them, but also the consideration and care that both shared for Lila and the risks their love carried. Wilder went a long way in showing just how complex love really is, and I admired the depth they could bring into this narrative through their skillful use of dialogue, tension, and slow-burning goodness.
I just adored Blake and Cassandra together, and cannot wait to learn more about Chelsea and Seamus’ in the next installment after that little tease! Learning more about a certain ghost and cipher will just be the icing on the cake - June cannot come soon enough!
I received a complimentary copy of this book thanks to Net Galley and the author, and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was one of those books that sucked me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until I finished! I thought it was well written, with absolutely flawlessly done characters, and absolutely unputdownable.
What happens when you meet a woman who intrigues you, who attracts you, but you can’t act on those feelings as you are married, well, sort of. Blake and Lila Harrington operate their own company helping businesses that are struggling. They advertise as a married couple which seems to make clients feel more comfortable, but they are not married. Their relationship is a ruse to protect Lila and her true love interest. What will happen when Blake’s feeling for his new client, Cassandra Kelly, becomes more serious? A fun romance as Blake trusts Cassandra with their secret in order explain that he is not a cheater, as her former boyfriend was. He can’t turn his back on Lila, but will he and Cassandra have their chance at love? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
