I found myself captivated by the first few chapters with Cass and Ada, seeing each other from a distance, and wondering of the possibility of the other. Ada in her desire to do something new, was intrigued by Cass and his ability to say whatever he thought, without the filter of expectation. Cass saw in Ada, someone who was genuine in her desire to be his friend and to help him succeed. As their relationship developed, so too did their own sense of self-worth. I also enjoyed the wisdom of Ada’s father and her step-mother, who support Ada in her actions. Simply writing this review, has brought a smile to my face, as I remember the sweet yet sensual romance between this couple. I look forward to reading the new book in this series.

I enjoyed this book very much. I like how the main character was able to speak her mind for what she wanted and was encouraged to seek it, especially for the timeframe this book is written in. I like the character development and how they were able to learn from each other. I like that characters from the first book of this series were included and were not made to be focal characters. I liked that I could imagine how scenes played out and how characters were described to look. This was a fun read and I look forward to more by this author.

Teach a Rogue New Trick is a book by an author I have not read previously. Also, I have not read book one in the series.
My overall thoughts on this story was it was an okay read for me. The heroine takes it upon herself to help our hero become a better man. He has done some not so nice things in the past. He considers himself a villain that now is on the road to redemption with help from Ada. In exchange for her tutelage he will take her on some adventures.
It is along these encounters that feelings begin to develop. Feelings that both of them don't know how to express because it means changing their plans for the future.

Why the 3 stars?
I liked Cass. I think he was a fun character who really wasn't a villain. I like that he admits his wrong doing and apologizes to his family for hurting them. Ada was an okay character. I really don't believe she was that in love with Cass because she was literally on the boat ready to leave without saying goodbye to him. I think she was looking forwards to traveling than to having a relationship with Cass.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was clever, fun, steamy and held my interest. I wanted to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

This was my first book by this author. I very much liked the witty way she wrote the letters that Cass and Ada exchanged. I thought Cass wasn't such the evil person everyone made him out to be. I liked that he really put thought into the kind of person he wanted to be. Ada gave up years of her life when her father left the family to pursue his own adventures. Now she wants to go off and see the world but feels trapped into a marriage with a man she does not love. I thought Cass very unselfish for wanting Ada to have her happiness even if it was without him.

I haven't read any of the other books so this was my first meeting with Cassius and Ada. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book the character's were likable and engaging and who doesn't love reforming a bad boy. Recommended will be looking for more books from this author. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Cute, lively story

Cass is ready to work towards redeeming himself after his interference in his brother's love life secured his reputation as a villain. Ada is the beleaguered eldest daughter whose launch into society was delayed by her devotion to her younger siblings. Now that her father has remarried, Ada has a bit of a reprieve and is anxious to sow a few wild oats. You'd think this would put her on a collision course with Cass, who is trying to turn over a new leaf, but really it works out well as they somewhat meet in the middle.

I loved the epistolary exchanges between these two; short little notes that displayed their wit and charm and allowed them to be more direct than they might have been in person. I loved how Ada didn't really seek to change Cass, she just wanted to show him that he was still capable of doing good things that would improve both his reputation and his sense of inner peace.

There were a couple points that demonstrated a lack of research into historical details of the time period, thus my four stars for what otherwise was a delightful, witty romance. I did love the HEA and their enthusiastic acceptance of each other's past mistakes was inspirational. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Teach a Rogue New Tricks is a delightful, amusing and charming book. We have a "villain" trying to reform himself and a "good girl" who is trying to break out of the life she is expected to live, and doesn't want. The dialogue is witty and, although there is plenty of angst it never weighs the story down. I loved it. 4-1/2 smiling stars

This story is well written with a light, fun tone. The characters are interesting and seem well developed. Unfortunately, the book ended up not being a good fit for me. The interactions of the hero and heroine felt off to me for the time period. I'm sure many readers will feel differently. DNF.

'Teach A Rogue New Tricks', is an engaging and enjoyable Regency Romance that is quite different from the average novel in this genre. This is a story of a broken hero, and of self discovery for our heroine.

Cassius, Lord Albie, is a bad man, has done some pretty awful things, and is looking for forgiveness and redemption. He crosses paths with the lovely and open Ava Cavendish, who - despite knowing of Cass' reputation - agrees to help him to behave in a way that is much more socially acceptable. So begins a great story and burgeoning relationship between this couple.

I loved the two main characters. I thought they made for an amazing couple. There was plenty of chemistry between the two. I definitely felt how drawn they were to each other. Neither character was conventional, or behaved in a conventional way, which made for a story that was not predictable, and felt fresh. I really enjoyed how this author turned a character who had behaved appallingly, into someone who was redeemed by the end. I also enjoyed the authors penmanship. Charlie Lane's writing style was excellent.

I'd highly recommend this book to lovers of historical romance.

I'm a little torn on how much I liked this book. Cassius Adgate, Viscount Albee, has been a rogue and a cad. He tried to kidnap his brother's betrothed and fled England. A year later, he wants to reform. He has given up drinking, gambling and women. What he needs is a woman to teach him how to be good. Ada Cavendish has always been responsible. When her father deserted the family, she took over raising her siblings. She is willing to help Cass reform, but not give up her dream of adventure. A friendship grows between them and they become lovers. Ada thinks she is not ready for love, but Cass is determined to give Ada what she wants. I had a hard time keeping my focus on the book. It never had a continuous pace, but I was engaged enough to finish. I have not read the first one, but I am interested enough to read it.

I did not like this book. I read it twice and it still did not meet my meager criteria for stars. It was a disjointed story in that it was not a nice even read. I was not able to immerse myself into the story line. Another criteria was that it had to stand alone and this book relied too much on a previous story in the series in which the main male character was a bad guy. If you didn't read the previous story, you were confused and I was very confused. The author spent the better part of two chapters trying to catch the reader up to who the main male character was. The reader had to dig in to get the main idea and I read this book twice and I still didn't understand the premise of the main couple's association. It was supposed to be that the heroine had raised her sisters and her father's wards and now that she was 26 years old, she wanted an adventure because she was going back after the season to marry her childhood sweetheart. Well, if she didnt want to marry her childhood sweetheart, just say so. Don't be such a drama queen. And, if she wanted an adventure and a break from being a mother and governess to children not her own, why would she become a governess to a rogue? She didnt want to be a governess anymore, she wanted an adventure. The whole premise doesnt make any sense. And the main male character, why does he have to be taught how to act appropriately when he was taught since birth and even told himself he knew better than what his actions were. He is just being lazy and throwing the responsibility on her if he fails at being reformed.
I do not recommend reading this story. It was as if the author got to the end of the list of interesting characters and had to tie up some loose ends. And this was so very disappointing because the heroine was over 22 years old!! She was one step from being either on the shelf or being a married woman and she wanted to throw caution to the wind and live her best life. And she gets stuck with someone who is irresponsible. I give it 2 stars since I didnt see any spelling errors.

This was a fun, enjoyable read. Characters were well-drawn, and the plot made sense. Both Cass and Ada had secrets to hide, and each had something to overcome in their past in order to move forward. Fun dialogue, realistic scenes, good writing. My only complaint is that while propriety and "ruination" (for Ada) were mentioned several times, there were a few scenes that should have resulted in scandal, but we are to believe that the behavior was not noticed by anyone. Charlie Lane is a new author to this reader and “Teach a Rogue New Tricks” (Cavendish Family Series #2) was a story filled with love and romance. Cass, cast as a villain and Ada, a bluestocking seeking adventure after spending five years of her life taking care of her siblings. Awaiting her first London Season, she meats the Ear of Brookmere peering out of a window and is determined to uncover the man. A chance meeting intertwines two people into a slow building romance that leads to love.

This was an endearing story where Cass is needing redemption and Ada, her freedom. The plot was well paced and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The main characters are very likeable individuals…a rogue being reformed and a woman with dreams of adventure. There were witty moments, humor, and just the right amount of intimate steam that I enjoy in my historical romance readings. A well-written story by Ms. Lane and I look forward to reading more from her and this series. Recommend the read.

I wasn't able to download the book in time, so I just waited for it to come out on Kindle Unlimited to read! This book was super funny, some of the banter between Ada and Cass made me laugh out loud. I'm absolutely going to read more by Charlie Lane!

Ada has been caring for younger siblings and other young dependents while her father has been traveling for years. Her chance for an adventure of her own comes in the guise of Cassius Albee.

Cassius is a rogue who has committed despicable acts. Lonely and repentant, Cass seeks to find his way back to his families good graces; but he requires a guide and when Ada crosses his path he is intrigued by her warmth and acceptance and seeks her help in reforming his ways.

I found Ada to be an insightful and loving person. She thrives on helping others and enjoys doing so, but she also longs for adventure. More of a country girl, Ada is not jaded by London society and sees Cass with innocent and fresh eyes. She seeks to befriend Cass and help him look to the future and move beyond the wicked man he played in the past.

Cass is a very interesting character. He is a man that played the villain. How can a villain be redeemed? Well a rake can most likely be redeemed by love, right? The selfish man he was recedes further into the recesses of his mind as his heart becomes filled with love and friendship for Ada. He becomes a man who puts others before himself and I loved watching his growth.

Ada and Cass are delightful together. His roguish, silly mannerisms and her blushes and stern admonishments make for sweet depictions of these two young people connecting on a deeper level. I did find the sensual scenes could have been expounded upon to further display the depth of their relationship, but there was plenty of honest dialogue that this detail didn’t take away from their romantic development. I must add here that I truly enjoyed how Lane described their feelings with garden metaphors-it made for some beautiful imagery. I also adored Cass's panic whenever Ava was near a balustrade. As Ada's cousin Jackson put it, "I like his attention to safety". These little nuances played such a large role in developing the connection and love between these two endearing characters.

I did not read Sinning in Secret (London Secret series), which features Cass as a villain, or the first book in this series so it took me a few chapters to get my bearings. I think that it would help to have read the background stories, but I do believe this book covers enough of the details to stand alone.
