Riley the Brave is a bear who finds it hard to deal with all of the different sensations around him, such as flashing lights, noises, smells, tastes, food, movements and the way things feel. Sometimes he gets angry and shouts at people, because his senses cannot cope, and sometimes he wants to hide away and be alone for a while. He wants to go to the funfair, but he is too scared, and he already finds it hard to go to school. His schoolteacher refers him to a therapist, who helps him to deal with his emotions and senses. She gives him ways to regulate his emotions, and tools that he can use to help him feel more calm and in control. Will he be able to get to that funfair that he desperately wants to visit?

This book is amazing, and it contains a lot of knowledge and information for parents and carers, to help them to understand how their child is thinking and feeling, and it gives them tools to help their child. I really loved this book, and it has given me so many ideas that I can try with my own children.

There are lovely, bright graphics in the book, and the book is perfect for children to read, as at the beginning, there is the cute bear story, plus there is more complex writing near the end of the book for adults to read.

I highly recommend this book, and I think all parents, carers and teachers should read it, as it is so awesome and helpful!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book to help kids understand their senses. Children with sensory processing disorders can struggle with even the smallest things most people wouldn't even think about. This book helps them understand that how they feel is felt by many others too, and that there are different ways to help with those feelings. This book has a cute story with great information for teachers, parents, or any other caregiver of children with sensory differences. This is a great book for classrooms and therapists to have for their students.
