Angela Marsons is back with yet another riveting and fast-paced Kim Stone thriller, 'Six Graves'. The book begins with a funeral and instantly raises the question - who is dead and would it be someone whom we have connected with a lot?

In this 16th installment, Detective Kim Stone has to butt heads with two criminals almost at the same time- one is her nemesis Symes, whose jail sentence she is responsible for, and another killer, whose identity is so very elusive that it becomes next to impossible to draw him out.

Symes has vowed revenge on the abrasive detective, in retaliation for her part in putting him behind bars. He manages to escape the prison and is almost too close to the detective than she thinks; he has been plotting his revenge for a very long time and wants to carry it out in the exact way he has already planned - make her suffer before killing her. Just when Stone gets word about Symes' escape, she and her team are pulled into investigate what seems to be a murder-suicide of the Daynes family. She is also forced to contend with the secret agent Leanne King, with whom she had abrasive dealings during a previous case, as she is assigned to protect Stone.

Symes tries to engage Detective Kim by kidnapping two girls and sending her recording of their pleas and screams. Blocked by her boss' orders, Stone is forced to expend all her energy in to the investigation of the Dayneses, after figuring out that it was a murder made to look like a murder-suicide. Who is the person who killed more than half of the Daynes family and what is their motive? Does Stone manage to outwit Symes and rescue the girls or does she get caught in his trap? You will have to read the book to know the answers to these questions.

This is yet another gripping thriller from Angela Marsons which just powers through. The story is taut, crisp and emotionally rich. It contains enough information for the new reader to follow the established storyline, while still giving some new information that will interest an old reader. Marsons has done an excellent job in drawing us in to the tumultuous and restless mind of Kim; however we also feel the sympathy she has for the victims of crimes. The insight she provides into the mind of the psychopathic Symes was both authentic and terrifying; this only makes the story more compelling and the other characters very real.

I like the way she tells a story. Her characters are clearly defined and their growth is properly portrayed too. I had liked the 14th book 'Twisted Lies' very much and happy to say love 'Six Graves' too. She is definitely am author to watch out for.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions provided in this review are my own.

I absolutely love this series!! I love Kim Stone, I love these books!
Each and every one of them are such page turners, you literallty can't put them down. Angela Marsons has done it again with this book. I have enjoyed every single one I have read and I can not wait for the next one!
There were two sub-plots and both were just as page turning as each other, so much was going on that it had just the right pace, it was exciting, riveting, intense. Everything you want in a book like this.

I have not found a Kim Stone book that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed and that I haven't given 5 stars to. If you haven't read any of these books then I highly recommend them, You won't be disappointed at all.

The character development throughout the series is just fantastic. You feel like you really get to know each character and you get invested in their journeys and how they will develop.

An absolutely fantastic read!

I love Kim Stone, I so want to be besties with her, she is just my type of person.

She is no nonsense and direct and Angela Marsons writes her with just the right amount of sass.

Another triumph of a book that kept me guessing all the way through. A proper page turner that had more twists than my favourite rollercoaster.

I would happily binge read the whole series again and again.

Thoroughly deserved 5 stars from me.

Six Graves has one of Kim's most harrowing cases. A murder-suicide might not be what it seems and that is only the tip of the iceberg for Kim. Something from her disturbing past comes up yet again, even to the point where she will find herself in grave danger. But first, the harrowing case that has four victims. Just as in every single book in this stunning series, the plot is fast-paced, has thrilling twists and turns, a riveting conclusion, all while whetting the reader's appetite for the next book in the series.

Oh Kim! That intro to the book was a KILLER ONE! Ii love Kim Stone and offcourse I definitely do not want a hair on head harmed. So I kept reading. The boom had two sub-plots and both were equally riveting. To be honest I did go on a wild goose chase with all the previous books to see if Symes was ever mentioned because the name felt familiar. Obviously didn't find him! The Daynes case was very heartbreaking and so compelling. This one was a page turner for sure. The book has both a great plot & characters! I'm yet to find a Kim Stone book I dont like by even 1% (and I'm HAPPY about it). Keep 'em coming!

Thank you, NetGalley, Angela Marsons and Bookouture for the arc!

I have never read a DI Kim stone series before, and thought I would be lost. That said, I was hooked from the beginning. I felt like I easily slipped into to the story and the characters. Six Graves was very thrilling read. I am anxious to start at book #1 and follow DI Kim Stone and her team.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley.

Brilliantly written. I was on the edge of my seat while reading Syms story. The primary story was a good twist for the book. There are some moments in the book that I thought dragged out the book. The whole discussion of trying bring the conclusion of who was whose soon or the adoption agency. That was a bit to get through. But the Syms story was the one that had me enjoying the chase of the predator. Kim and Leanne made a good team in some ways. I hope the writer invites Leanne back to ion Kim’s team.

Angela marsons delivers every time with this series.

Kim's sarcasm Is there all the time, Her character never disappoints.
Even with a psychopath after her she still does her job.

The relationship between all the characters never falters, and develops well with every book in the series.
The book is so well written and the series just flows so well.

I recommend the Kim stone stone books to everyone, and I can wait for the next installment.

This book was quite different (at least for me) than the previous Kim Stone books. I couldn’t forget the first chapter while reading the book, which added immensely to the overall suspense.

There were two main story lines, both equally exciting. With new developments every few pages, this book was a great read. Of course Kim’s team worked great together, there even was a special focus on the relationship of Bryant and Penn. I especially liked Kims interactions with Leanne, they were a lot of fun.

The ending was as suspected very suspenseful and while I somehow expected this kind of ending, it still surprised me in the way it played out. It will be interesting to see how things will move forward from now on, I can’t wait for book 17!

I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Angela Marsons for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This is another absolute cracker of a police procedural thriller headed up by the inimitable DI Kim Stone and her team.

Pacy, exciting, gruesome and so descriptive that you feel like you are there as part of the team.

Amazing writing by Angela Marsons and the top series to look out for as far as I am concerned.

Looking forward to reading book 17 as soon as it is available.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

DI Kim Stone and her team have their respective hands full starting off with a locked house and a murdered family.  Could it be as simple as a case of murder/suicide?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Meanwhile, a dangerous psycho nutcase has escaped prison and has designs on Kim, whom he blames for thwarting him in a previous sicko scheme of his.  Kim's life is in danger, as is everyone and anyone in her life that means something to her.  A bodyguard is assigned to her, and it does not sit well with Kim.  What a shocker.  Ha!

This is one of those series where you feel you know the team players, their flaws, foibles, and strengths.  And who amongst us wouldn't want to spend some time with Barney, the dog?  Characters to love and to loathe, believable dialogue, and riveting plots.  If you are still putting off starting this series, you have some real treats in store for you.

Having read all of the DI Kim Stone novels by Angela Marsons I was delighted to receive this ARC in return for my honest review. Six Graves was another brilliant read so many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons.

Knowing the characters so well gives a great insight and understanding but this (and all the others) can be read as a standalone.

Arriving at the scene of a house fire Kim finds the deaths within the house not as initially thought and this leads to the search for the truth. Once again Kim’s abusive upbringing means she has deep empathy for what has happened.

Another great read and highly recommended.

Another wonderful addition to this series. This book opens with a funeral and there is a constant feeling of dread that one of the team is dead. It has happened before!
I can't wait for the next in this series.

Another episode in the Kim Stone series that I'm starting to suspect I will never grow tired of.
This is an excellent police procedural thriller with all the grittiness, humour and twists that we have come to expect from this author.
The back story, too, is kept fresh by drip feeding us just enough information and runs beautifully alongside the main one.
Another belter.
Many thanks.

This book was gripping on every page. As soon as I started reading, they felt so familiar to me, that I was right there in the squad room with Kim, Bryant, Penn, and Stacey, almost a member of the team.

It is worth mentioning that you can be introduced to Kim Stone and her team in any of the 16 books which all serve perfectly well as standalone stories. But, for better context, backstory, and character development, I recommend stating at the beginning. You’ll thank me later. No, really, you will.

There are a great mix of characters, some lovable, some likeable, and some loathsome, and together they make this even more thrilling. The team dynamic this time round shows some friction between Bryant and Penn, which until this point, Stone had not picked up on, with Bryant snapping at Penn or dismissing his suggestions out of hand. Now, I like Bryant and this felt completely out of character for him. They all have personal issues, which may effect the way they deal with the events ahead of them, which on their own would be stressful enough. As always, I felt protective of the whole team, and because of the fantastic writing, I felt the stress, rage, fear, and determination along with them. I’m not too proud to admit that at one particular moment for Stone, I even shed a tear.

Overall, I honestly believe this is the best in the series. I have previously given these books six stars out of five (my review my rules), but it felt reminiscent of that Spinal Tap amplifier going up to eleven. So, now only the very top notch books are getting five stars. This is definitely one of them and in contention for my book of the year. I wasn’t surprised at all to see this book at #1 on Amazon for Police procedurals, mysteries, and murder fiction. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any readers, repeating my advice to read the whole series in order. I gave Six Graves, by Angela Marsons, five stars.

This is the 16th book in the DI Kim Stone series, and for me it was the best one yet!

When Kim and her team are sent to a house to investigate a house fire all is not what it seems. 4 people have lost their lives, two teenage children a woman and her husband. All seem to have been shot and the mother of the family Helen is holding the gun. When Kim discovers a vital clue in the family’s home about Helen as she starts to dig in to her past. Her medical file shows 29 years of mental health issues - is that what make her lull her family? The more Kim and the team dig the more they discover that not everything is at it seems…. As more evidence from the past comes to light, Kim and the team realise the surviving family members aren’t safe either. Meanwhile an evil criminal has escaped prison and is hell bent on killing Kim, so she is assigned a whiteness protection offer Leanne, who works hard to secure Kim’s home and doesn’t leave her side, however much Kim dislikes it, Leanne comes in handy when Bryant isn’t around!
When the violent criminal kidnaps two more girls, and is gaining on Kim, she disobeys orders and sacrifices herself for the girls. Can Kim save the girls and escape with her own life in the process?

An absolutely brilliantly gripping read which will have you up until all hours until it’s finished! As always the characters are well developed, bonds between (most!) of the team are stronger than ever, very well written and plot brilliantly executed.

I really enjoyed all 16 of the Kim Stone series, I hope there will be another one!

#16 in Marson's very good DI Kim Stone series, this was another solid entry. An entire family is found shot to death in an apparent murder/suicide. It appears to be an open and shut case as the deceased mother is holding the gun and has a history of mental health issues. But Kim and her relentless team soon discover that not everything is as it seems and before we know it there are lots of suspects and lots of possible motives that ultimately leads to an intriguing police procedural. Another plot is a big part of this book as well, as a sadistic madman that Kim locked up years ago has escaped and kidnapped 2 little girls to try and draw Kim straight at him for a final showdown. We see more personal growth in the main characters and that combined with a challenging and unique plot made this an engrossing read. Thanks to Net Galley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well written but struggled with reading about a evil killer. My fault, but gave me the chills. Would recommend this book and author. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.,

Detective Kim Stone is called to what seems to be a simple case of a house fire but all is not as it seems.. she’s shocked to find two teenagers are dead and their mother holding the gun. It seems too clean cut, why would a mother murder her children and partner?

Discovering a vital clue makes Helen and the Team look more closely.

A psychopath from her past returns and Helen fears for her life. She’s given a Police Officer who has training to keep her safe. She barely tolerates Leanne, preferring to look out for herself but Symes is watching her every move unbeknown to her...

My heart was in my mouth for most of the book, especially after reading the prologue which made me tense & my heart beat fast!

Kim and the Team have a lot on their plate but as usual they pull together to solve the investigation. An absolutely jawdroppingly brilliant read which I absolutely loved.
