I’ve always been fascinated by reality shows and wished for a lesbian version of the Bachelorette so I immediately picked up this book after reading the blurb. The behind-the-scenes look at the production was really interesting and Savannah’s interactions with the contestants were really fun to read.
Spoiler alert: Savannah and Lauren were cute together but the intense chemistry that is the author’s hallmark wasn’t quiet there and things waned a little for me after they got together. Lauren didn’t seem to be having any issues with Savannah dumping other people to be with her which particularly bothered me after the elimination of Alix. Alix and Savannah had such good chemistry I was genuinely sad to see Alix go and felt that they should have at least been given some closure at the end with Savannah (a sequel with Alix would be interesting). The chemistry between Lauren and Savannah did not outshine the one with Alix for me - this may have been because the story is told from Savannah’s point of view only so we don’t have much insight into Lauren. Overall it was an engaging book with an interesting theme but I found the reality show angle more enjoyable than the romantic storyline.
