Grace seems like someone that has it all but behind closed doors lies lots of secrets, I loved this book and found the narration amazing really bring the characters to life, flipping back to past and present in the story really helps build the tension and I thought the twist at the end was great even thought a little unbelievable
Narrator 5 stars
Great voice, very soothing
Story 4 stars
I thought this story was really obvious..... Then it took a turn I wasn't expecting. Great job!
First time trying this author, would gladly spend cash trying this author again
4 stars for the audiobook
What a predicament this mother is in.
Grace has known Marcus since she was 16 and has never had a single doubt about his character. When their daughter makes an accusation about her father ~ do you believe your husband of 14 years or your 7 year old child? There are some old secrets that come to light that really bring the story together.
I like that it switches narration between Grace, Marcus and Coco (Grace's best friend that she lost contact with) and between the past and present, however it's all over the place so you really have to pay attention.
Katy Federman did a good job, I do wish there was a male narrator for the male parts though.
My thought was that it was (view spoiler) who was lying the whole time, but I didn't guess what was really going on. I was on the edge of my seat for a few chapters there towards the end.
Overall, this was a nice family drama thriller that kept me pretty engaged throughout. I would give this author a go again.
This was my first book by Sarah Clarke and I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I surely didn't expact that!
Well it starts off with a girl falling down a tree. She is daddy's girl but all of a sudden she comes up with odd claims and things start to get weired. Accusations all over that leave her mum Grace stunned and she does not know what to beleave or do since she and Marcus do have some things hidden in their pasts.
As I said: I didn't know where this would end but keept my attention for sure!
Thanks #Netgalley #HarperCollins UK Audio for the advanced Audio copy
This story starts with a medical incident concerning Grace’s seven-year-old daughter after she falls from a tree. At the hospital, she makes a harrowing accusation about her father, leaving Grace torn - does she believe her daughter or her husband?
The narration is read amazingly, bringing all the characters to life. I felt particularly sorry for Coco (Grace’s best friend) as we are slowly drip-fed her story whilst the drama is going on for Grace.
The cliffhanger was a huge success and has left me wanting to read more by this author in the future. Bringing depth and intensity, with a dual timeline of then and now, the plot offers a tense and thrilling conclusion. The twists and turns are unforeseen and work well to keep the reader/listener wanting to know more. Enjoyable is not the right word to use because of its sensitive nature. Still, this is an exciting and entertaining audiobook that I recommend to all psychological thriller fans due to the writing style.
Keep an eye out for the release of this on 28th April - it’s certainly worth picking up, in any format!
Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK Audio, HQ Digital and Sarah Clarke for an Audio ARC in return for an honest review.
Grace has a picture-perfect life with her husband and daughter. Until her daughter falls out of a tree and makes some troubling accusations about her father. The problem is that there are many buried secrets which Grace does not want exposed.
Oh my word, outstanding!! ‘Every Little Secret’ had me gripped from the start. I listening to it in one sitting. Gripped is an understatement. This is dark and gripping. The narrator Katy Federman was the perfect choice for this book. The plot is intense and continues to be great from start to finish. I highly recommend.
Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell.
This is a good psychological thriller, which starts off with little seven year old Kaia falling from a tree. She tells the doctors at the hospital that her Dad pushed her, and her Mum Grace is shocked, as she doesn't think that Marcus could do such a thing. The more that Kaia tells everyone that her Dad is hurting her, the more Grace investigates to find out what is happening. Can Marcus be trusted, or is there someone else trying to hurt Kaia?
The story goes back to the past to when Grace and Marcus were teenagers, and here we eventually find out what the truth is. Prepare to be surprised and shocked by all the twists and turns, and the big reveal near the end of the book.
The audiobook narrator for this book was great, and she kept the book going at a fast pace, while keeping the tension running high.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As soon as I started listening to this book I knew it was going to be one that pulled me right in. I really love these domestic drama type books and this one was no exception. A story told in duel timeline that was easy to follow with a great storyline. Highly recommend.
I listened to this as an audiobook, what a great story full of twists and turns, all about family secrets and the lengths at which people will go to keep them. And ultimately keep their family safe.
I guessed some aspects but not all, the last quarter was completely gripping and the ending was really satisfying although there is a bit of a cliffhanger in the last few sentences which left me wanting more!
The chapters are from multiple timelines and character perspectives which really helped with character development.
The characters were likeable when they should be and they were easy to care about.
My only issue with the narration on the audiobook was the accents, I found the readers natural voice very easy to listen to but some of the character accents were distracting.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for the opportunity to listen to this advance release.
This is a great read and I really enjoyed it. Told in the present but with flashbacks to the past and from different perspectives but it keeps your attention and builds the suspense. Really well paced and just enough revealed as and when it’s needed. I had the ‘who’ pegged early on but not the ‘why’ or how it would play out. Great twists and turns along the way. Really good character development and some really likeable characters but some I went through the motions of liking and disliking. The narration was engaging but at times the different accents could be a little annoying. Engaging, addictive read that definitely kept my attention.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK Audio for the opportunity to read and review this ARC that is due to be published on the 28th of April 2022.
‘Every Little Secret’ is a must read novel, which delves into the finer details of a complicated relationship. Hidden from view of the world, this perfect family’s secrets must remain unearthed, for them to be able to stay together. Little do they know that their world is about to be turned upside down by threats, kidnappings and long borne grudges and revenge. A tumultuous cascade of twists and turns keeps the reader wondering and second guessing as to what will happen next. Moving smoothly along, with sudden barrages of shock moves, this is a real page turner. The author, Sarah Clarke, certainly knows how to capture her readers and keep them hanging by a thread right till the very end. I listened to Every Little Secret as an audiobook, delightfully read by Katy Federman, who succeeds in capturing the personalities of the characters in her clever narration.
Little secrets grow up to be big lies!
Grace, Marcus and their seven-year-old daughter are a happy little family. That is until seven-year-old Kaia has an accident – she is rushed to the hospital with her worried parents by her side – after tests have been carried out, the doctor reveals some troubling news. An accusation has been made and Grace must decide who to believe and what to do about it. Protecting her daughter could mean her deepest, darkest secret could be revealed – and she could lose everything in the process.
I really enjoyed this book and was lucky enough to receive the audiobook to review, which was narrated by Katy Federman – who did an excellent job narrating. The premise of this book really grabbed me and I felt I just wanted to keep listening to see what would happen next. The story is told in two timelines, flicking back and forth between the past, with Grace and Marcus as teenagers and the present, with multiple points of view. I felt that Grace was very relatable and you really feel for her, having to try and navigate this absolute nightmare of a situation, and the guilt she suffers at every turn. The author does an excellent job at turning you into an emotional wreck! As the accusations continue to mount, and Grace finds she is receiving varying advice from friends and family on what to do, you find yourself questioning and second-guessing everything you think you know.
I did correctly guess a tiny piece of the puzzle, but the rest took me completely by surprise. I’d never have seen that ending coming! This book was pretty fast-paced throughout, but the suspense and tension really ratcheted up towards the end and my heart joined the pace. The unreliable narrator really adds to this grippingly intense psychological domestic thriller.
My thanks to the author and Harper Collins UK Audio for my advance copy to review via NetGalley.
Four puzzling – didn’t see the ending coming – suspenseful stars !
Secrets, secrets, and more secrets.
When you're happily married and your 7-year old daughter accuses your husband of physical abuse, whom do you believe?
Who is telling the truth?
This book started out strong with an ultra-compelling premise.
However, as the book progressed, the author became overly wordy and began to ramble and, therefore, the book quickly lost steam. (Where was the editor????)
Flashbacks were used in the book and the transitions were not always smooth.
The book featured several twists that were predictable and contrived.
Although I felt that the characterizations of the two main husband/wife protagonists were very strong, the book would have benefited from in-depth characterizations of the book's ancillary characters. (The wife's mother and best friend)
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a superb job. Since there were many husband/wife flashbacks, the book would have been more listener-friendly had the publisher used two narrators.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It was a greeping story, full of surprises just I missed some very imortant things to be explained. A family secret treasured for so long will come out. But that go slowly and we get to know all in two time lines. That was excellent done but I was a little sad about everything. It was a real family drama that was hard to imagine that realk happened. And please be aware of children be involved and some forced sex.
Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins Uk Audio for this adio copy.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for providing me with a copy of the "Every Little Secret" audiobook.
Grace seems to lead the perfect life until one day her beloved daughter Kaia claims she was pushed off a tree by her father, Marcus. Unable to believe that her husband would be capable of such a cruel and violent act, she sets to discover the truth all while trying to protect her daughter, uncovering the family's darkest secrets in the process.
The plot is really well tied together and I grew attached to the characters in the short time I spent with them. Grace's growing distress was poignant, it's easy to put yourself in her shoes and wonder what you would've done were you walking in her shoes. This story is full of twists I didn't see coming, making for a real page turner!
I thought Katie Federman to be a fabulous narrator too, she masters so many voices and accents in the most natural way possible while bringing emotion to her reading. I would be thrilled to hear her again someday as well as to read another book by Sarah Clarke. I would recommend this book for a bit of -creepy- fun!
3.5 stars!
