Book Review
Everything For You by Chloe Liese

This latest instalment in the Bergman Brothers saga highlights
Oliver’s love story.

Tropes:
Young vs Old
Grumpy meets sunshine
Enemies to Lovers
Sports
LGBTQIA2 representation
Meddling seniors and family

Triggers
Anxiety
Chronic pain

This slow burn romance is filled with all the witty banter and humour we have come to expect from Liese’s writing. Ollie has matured (from past Bergman books) and evolved into a super star soccer player pumped up on positivity BUT he still has some growing up to do. Gavin, his often gruff, team mate and idol, antagonizes him constantly. Their opposites attract chemistry is undeniable-even to them- and eventually (with the help of a shared bed) they find their way into each others arms. The Bergman siblings all make an appearance (usually to meddle) giving readers a glimpse into their lives present day. Oliver and Gavin’s story stood out for me because they both had some work to do on themselves, hurdles to overcome, a past to let go of, before they could commit to each-other, but in the end they embraced that and fought for each other.
Love is always worth fighting for.
Everyone deserves to find their happily ever after.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the Bergman Brothers series is one of my absolute favorites. This series is like a warm hug that I can always count on to make me laugh and cry, and fall in love with another of the Bergman siblings. Each time we get a new book I can't wait to dive in, but also sad because it means we're one book closer to the end of the series. Everything For You gave us a little extra as we got lots of snippets of previous couples and what they're up to.

As always, Everything For You was beautiful and heartwarming. I loved Ollie and Gavin's story - sunshine/grump, soccer, meddling elderly neighbors, a spotlight on anxiety and chronic pain with some Kulti and Ted Lasso vibes. You don't want to miss the newest Bergman story!

Thanks to the author and netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I go back and forth on a 3 or 4 star rating. I'm going to round up to 3.5 purely because I loved seeing where some of my favorite Bergman clan are in life. It's hard to find a great enemies to lovers book that I just love and devour, but this one just didn't quite do it for me. I adored Oliver, but just couldn't really vibe with Gavin. Their love story I didn't believe at all. It was more of the author telling me rather than showing me. I'm also not a huge fan of musicals so all the references started to get on my nerves.

Thanks Netgalley for that ARC.

To no ones surprise, least of all my own, I loved Everything for You. It was a joy to read, through and through. It's got the characters, the feels, the story, the love.

Gavin is a huge grump, swears like a sailor and lives with chronic pain, which may explain some of the grumpiness. Oliver is a sunshine, prankster and battles anxiety and panic attacks. They're both also mushy, caring and completely gone for each other, of course.

If you're going to read anything by Liese, you have to be prepared for the internal monologues and reflections on life, feelings and actions. They are plentiful, they are deep in the feels and they can be a bit repetitive. Still, it's such a beautiful book, I'm okay with it (even though all the books can be shortened down slightly and still keep it's core.

Loved it, so read it and love it with me.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

At this point I would say Chloe Liese can do no wrong. She’s the Lizzo of romance, writes nothing but bangers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and loved loved loved Oliver and Gavin’s story, who are both so deserving of love and an HEA.

About a third of the way through this book I was really digging the Ted Lasso vibes, especially Gavin as an American Roy Kent, so I was thrilled to see Chloe list Ted Lasso as one of the influences on this book. But, like all Bergman Sibling books, we are given not just a beautiful love story, but also a familial love story, both born and found family, and characters who are all that you want in friends. Her books are glimpses of what we should all aspire, in love and all our relationships. And of course, as Viggo notes, romance novels have so much to teach us.

“Life is not a romance novel.”
“One of my biggest beefs with life.”

Everything for You was my first Chloe Liese book and I highly enjoyed it. As a sucker for grumpy/sunshine tropes, Gavin and Oliver were very entertaining and made a lovely pairing, both in their banter and their more serious, tender moments. I especially appreciated how they navigated around various challenges, from chronic pain to panic attacks, and seeing how they supported each other.

I will say for a book about two professional soccer athletes, there wasn't a lot of ... soccer. Rather than a sport romance with the game and team at the very center of the story, this book seems to focus on Gavin and Oliver and their relationships outside the sport, such as their family (which makes sense considering the series is focusing on the Bergman brothers), and Gavin's fun group of poker friends. Despite being co-captains, they do seem to spend a lot of time playing pranks, hanging out in the evenings, and babysitting. However, this is not really a complaint as it gave us more of Gavin and Oliver as a pairing, which I was hooked on.

I do wish we could learn more about Gavin and his past, as it is only briefly discussed towards the end of the novel. Perhaps he will appear in later books in the series?

Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of Everything For You by Chloe Liese. The contemporary queen romance was about Oliver finding love. I loved this story so much. This is a fantastic series!

Chloe Liese never disappoints! Her books always make me feel like I’m standing under the sun: warm and happy. I was super excited to dive into this installment because 1) it’s the Bergmans, and 2) the tropes in this book are right up my alley! In this book, you will find the sunshine and grump trope, enemies to lovers, age-gap romance, and a scene where there is only one bed.

This book follows Oliver Bergman, the happy-go-lucky Bergman brother, and his teammate Gavin. Gavin is a super famous soccer player. He’s one of the best players ever. So, naturally, Ollie was excited to finally meet his idol when Gavin joined his soccer team--only things didn’t go as Ollie imagined. Gavin was cold and nothing like he expected.

Flash forward two years, and these two don’t get along. Gavin does his best to ignore Ollie and Ollie responds by killing Gavin with kindness. Until the unthinkable happens: their coach makes them co-captains. Now they have to resolve their issues to keep their co-captain positions. Soon pranks ensue, and a friendship starts to blossom. Before they know it, feelings get involved. But are they ready for that? Do they want that? You’ll have to read and see *wink*.

I loved getting to know Ollie and Gavin. They both project different personas but have a lot in common under the surface. They both suffer from insecurities and have been avoiding falling in love because they are scared of being hurt. This book is perfect for any romance lover.

At the intersection of Ted Lasso, Kulti, and queerness is where you'll find the youngest Bergman brother's HEA. I'll take a grumpy sunshine, or enemies to lovers, or slow burn, any day, but put them all together with Chloe as the author? This book is perfection. And after finishing, my heart is so damn happy. I giggled uncontrollably at the A+ banter, eyes misty at the heart to hearts (about anxiety and aging and grief and so much more). I loved Gavin's meddlesome fiesty grandpa group of friends the very most . This book is pure comfort, and I can't wait to see more of Oliver and Gavin in the final two books of the series.

Chloe Liese knows what she's doing. This book has so many tropes, but done in the best way possible. I'm talking slow burn, age-gap, sports romance, one bed trope, grumpy x sunshine, mutual pining, enemies to lovers - and every single one was executed wonderfully.

I'm not the greatest fan of sports romance or age-gap romances, but that's a personal preference; this book is the exception though!

I also loved the anxiety and queer representation within this book - Oliver's struggles with anxiety felt very similar to my own. This story had a great mixture of emotional, comedic, and romantic moments that meshed well together. And of course, there was lots of great representation seen in the side characters.

Overall, this was a great adult queer romance and I highly recommend it!

This book had two of my favourite tropes, enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine mcs. I loved reading about the slow progression of Gavin and Ollie's relationship, as they dealt with their own personal growth as well as growing together as partners. I just love all of the Bergman family books, and can't wait for more.

Everything for You was the grumpy/sunshine romance of my dreams. This is one of my all-time favorite troupes and I am always here for it! I love the Bergman siblings so much and Oliver’s book is one of my favorites (right behind Ren’s which I’m not sure can ever be topped!)

Oliver and Gavin are on the same soccer team but they’re worlds apart. Gavin is a veteran player at the end of his career. He’s the captain of the team and a bit of a grouch. Oliver is a younger player who always has a cheerful disposition. Oliver has always looked up to Gavin, but Gavin is especially grouchy to Oliver.

Oh, and not only are they teammates, but they happen to be neighbors as well. And now, to Gavin’s demise, co-captains of their team. There is only so much a man can take. Oliver tries to not take it personally and keep his happy disposition, but he is fed up as well and starts to prank Gavin. This whole part of the book kept me smiling.

I love the progression from enemies, to friends, to so much more. Gavin and Oliver had so much chemistry and I thought they were so great together. You could tell they truly cared for one another and it was so much more than just the attraction between them. It was such a beautiful slow burn and just made me so happy while reading.

This book was so much fun to read. But not only that, it was emotional, had the best family vibes and representation, and the most wonderful Ted Lasso feels (Yes, this inspired me to FINALLY watch it)! I also loved the friendships that Gavin had with his old man friends. It was seriously a highlight of the book! It was a perfect for me story and a lovely romance!

Loved the Ted Lasso inspiration for Everything for You! The sunshine, cinnamon roll hero and the grumpy, broken hero were the perfect opposites attract match-up. I found Oliver to be so relatable and lovable! He was sweet but flawed. I had a harder time coming around to Gavin, as it felt like it took more time for his story to unfold and to grasp a better understanding of who his character truly was. I enjoyed the slow burn romance but at times it felt a little too slow. I was begging for a steamy scene and had to wait until almost the end of the read for fireworks to explode. Everything for You had so much emotion and heart. Another great story from Chloe Liese.

Chloe Liese's books are always so poetical. The Bergman Brothers series is one of my absolute faves! She has such a way of writing heartfelt, emotional moments. Her books always feel so personal, and honestly, that's such a rare quality in a writer.

This is the 5th book in the series, and Oliver is the Bergman brother that we're rooting for this time. I've always been excited for Oliver's story, and knowing that the author was inspired by Ted Lasso made me love the story even more. Gavin, Oliver's older teammate and love interest, is the perfect foil for Oliver's sunshine. Gavin is grumpy and surly and on his way out of the game (due to his age and retirement.) He openly resents Oliver's age and athleticism. He's shaken by the fact that Oliver is just starting out in his career, and Gavin's injuries are taking him out of his. When the two are made co-captains of their team, they have to learn to work together and be vulnerable with each other.

The thing about Oliver is that his sunshine nature hides a person that has anxiety and fears. Gavin, while rude and domineering, hides his vulnerability and heart. The two of them learn to open up to each other, because of their differences. They go from enemies to lustful attraction to opening up wounds and finally accepting each other for who they are.

The only thing that felt a little off for me was the plot itself.. While the love story between the two MCs felt authentic and loving, I felt that the story lacked some imagination. It didn't feel as creative as the other books in the series. It felt a little lackluster. That being said, Liese is one of the most amazing contemporary romance authors EVER. Her little nuances and thoughts are so relatable and authentic. One of the best parts of this series--that Liese excels at--is the love and banter between all of the brothers. These relationships are definitely what drives these novels, and I love that the author is so determined to show such positive familial relationships. Liese is also a master at showing non-toxic masculinity and how it can affect brothers and the people they love.

Overall, this is another excellent addition to this series, even though the plot was not as creative or original as the others. I will read anything by Chloe Liese. She's an auto buy for me. :)

This book was so incredible! I couldn’t put it down and read it in about 24 hours. I adored the way Liese handles grump and sunshine and enemies to lovers. The tension and chemistry between Oliver and Gavin was scorching! I’m a big fan of slow burns and Liese is a master of them! I loved how Gavin and Oliver both supported and comforted each other through tough moments. I adore the entire Bergman clan, but Oliver’s story was a delight to read.

This book made me laugh and cry. I highlighted so many passages. I loved seeing all of the couples from all four previous books as their happily ever afters continue. I think everyone should read this book!

I will update with the link as soon as I share on my bookstagram account.

The almost youngest of the Bergman brood, Oliver, is a professional soccer player who has to contend with "Grumpy Gavin," the hot, more experienced captain of the team. Circumstances (or their coach) force them together and sparks fly! If you like enemies to lovers, unpacking toxic masculinity, neurodivergent characters, LGBTQ representation, and love a trope or two (there's only one bed!) then this is a must read for you!

thank you so much chloe for this arc!

4.25 stars from meeeee

Man oh man was I excited for this one! Oliver bergman is a bergman I’ve been very interested in getting to know. So I’m so glad we got a deeper look into his life through his book. Oliver has to be one of my favorite Bergman‘s, I really love who he is as a person and how he goes about situations. He reminds me a lot of one of my close friends and for that he’s just very dear to my heart. Gavin on the other hand is the grumpiest of all grumps if I’ve ever read them. I really did enjoy Gavin‘s character, he’s not hard to love even though he believes he is. I loved witnessing their banter, and seeing them both fight their feelings for one another. It’s one of my favorite things to witness in these books. The one bed trope was done perfectly, the morning after scene had to be one of the funniest scenes in the entire book it had me smiling from ear to ear. Everything about this romance was delectable, I absolutely love how unafraid they were after the love confession, to express their love for one another. I also just love how Gavin went about it, something about that A-frame house always does it for me. Any scene in that house is golden and I absolutely adored it. The glimpses of the other Bergmans where everything to me. I will not spoil in this review but I will say we do get highly anticipated things people have wanted in the last books. It was so fulfilling I literally burst into tears when I read the pages! All in all, the story was phenomenal and Chloe has done it again as she always does. The representation was beautifully done, as always and I couldn’t be more happy reading the book!

Ted Lasso but if Ted and Roy Kent fucked. Really.

Just to get out of the way, i read Everything for You without reading any of the other "Bergman Brothers" novels, because i can't be bothered to read straight romance most of the time, and i just wanted to read this one because i was really excited when i found out it was a gay soccer romance, so it's safe to say you can read this one without reading all the other books. Of course, the other family members pop out here and there and i definitely don't remember everyone's names because Oliver's family is HUGE. No, really, my reaction was exactly the same as Gavin's when he found out Oliver has SIX SIBLINGS. And most of them have a significant other! And some of them have children!!!!

Back to the book. I thought it was awesome, the exact pinch of romance, smut and angst i like. Gavin is awesome and his hate for everything and everyone didn't feel forced to me because i also hate everything and everyone. Misanthropes unite.

I wish i could read more of this story, and i'll probably skim through the next books in this series just so i can catch up to what Gavin and Oliver are up to. Gavin's grumpness and Oliver's humor clash very well together, and the fact that even though Gavin hates people he still loves Oliver's niece? Awesome. Love me some grump who's soft on children.

I have to say i've got two complaints. One, there's too many Hamilton references. I like Hamilton just as the next guy but... i felt it was too many. Not that it bothered me that much, but anyway. Second, most of the time the characters were jerking each other off the author kept using words like fist, fisted, fisting and..... i get what the author was trying to say but i don't think anyone says "fisted" while talking about jerking off. That's a whole other sex thing.

Anyway, "Everything for You" is an amazing book, perfect for fans of Ted Lasso, the grumpy/sunshine couples, oh my god they were roommates and there was only one bed tropes.

Thank you Chloe Liese and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a honest review!

I need more queer sports romances in my life! I read this during a particularly difficult week and it was a little breath of fresh air. The Ted Lasso vibes were immaculate.

“Gavin matters to me, not the soccer legend or the sullen captain of my team, but the man. The man who makes my niece guacamole and colors with her. The man who holds me when I’m panicking, who believes in me when I have belief enough for everyone but too little for myself, who sees through every happy-go-lucky layer of my bullshit straight to the heart of my own aching fears and wants.”

For anyone that knows me, they know I am heavily invested in the Bergman family series. This is easily one of my favorite series and I have been (impatiently) waiting for Oliver's book since the release of With You Forever. The next installment, Everything For You, completely lived up to the hype and delivered everything I wanted and so much more for Oliver and Gavin's story. This book is simply utter perfection.

I was so happy being back in the world of the Bergmans and thought it was extremely clever how the timeline of the story was moved forward and we got to glimpse the other couples from previous books. Seeing where all the couples are now further cements my adoring love for this family. And having the next generation of Bergmans show up was the treat I didn't know I needed. I loved Linnie's character with all my heart and she added comedic timing and witty one-liners in tense moments.

Oliver's character is a ray of sunshine. Speaking in Broadway tunes, he treats everyone with kindness and respect. But despite his cheery disposition, internally, he's struggling. Ever a people pleaser, Oliver doesn't want to let anyone down, especially his teammates and family. This puts the weight of the world on his shoulders and the anxiety, at times, could be crippling. Oliver is the poster boy enneagram 2w3 and I related to his struggles deeply. Oliver is such a sweet, sensitive soul and I loved his character so much.

If ever there was the epitome of Roy Kent in fictional form, Gavin is it! His grumpiness and serious nature won me over, and after reading all he's been through in life, it makes sense why he pushes people away and guards his heart closely. At this point in his career, Gavin is living a high stakes game, where chronic pain plagues his every day existence. Because Oliver represents everything Gavin feels he's losing, Gavin pushes him away, rather than risk his heart. Yet Oliver is just the person that can allow Gavin to be vulnerable and finally embrace his true self.

Everything For You is the way romance should be written. The layers of forced proximity between Oliver and Gavin - teammates, co-captains, next door neighbors, and obviously only one bed - made way for a slow burn, tender MM romance with sparks flying throughout. The pining and sexual tension between the two is on fire. I loved watched the pair try and fight their obvious attraction to each other. And the age gap trope was done so well. I absolutely devoured the last 25% of the book. It is so tender and beautiful and shows what true love should be. I didn't want this book to end.

This book is not just steam and angst. It is hilariously laden with pranks and Broadway tunes, plus professional soccer thrown into the mix. There are so many side characters that steal the show, but the poker boys were magic. I loved the friendship they had with Gavin and how the made him embrace his fears and go for what he truly wanted.

Please be prepared to read Chapter 27. You will need a box of tissues, guaranteed. The nods to the first book, from the chapter song choice to the emotional talk between Willa and Oliver broke my heart and then put it back together again.

The magic (and curse) of getting another installment in this series is the anticipation for the next book to come. I seriously cannot wait for Viggo's story. It has to be a special someone that ropes down that hopeless romantic, but can put up with his endless pranks.

Everything For You publishes May 10. A huge thanks to Chloe Liese for allowing me to read your work early. Your books are the reason I read and I am forever thankful you created this magical world that I can escape into and feel seen.
