Cute but very short kids comic, maybe for 10-12. Looks like it’s translated from French. It's meant to have a Japanese feel, I think, with mentioning ninjas and samurai, plus being on islands and having a distant emperor ruling. Fantasy with anthropomorphic animals for the people and a quest for magic power. It’s so short it’s just setting up other story but it’s more than good enough I’d read more.

Menji and the Sea Dragon was a bright and adventurous book told in a comic book/manga style. I liked all the different characters and their personalities. Sometimes it was confusing to me, like the main Fox would be talking or on a mission, then start battling with another character out of nowhere. Overall, very enjoyable.
