Isabella broom is one of my favorite authors so was so pleased to get this to read. Each book gets better and better. I really enjoyed the story and getting to know the characters. Will definitely be reading more books by this author

The Summer Trip by @isabelle_broom_author a NetGalley review. Ava had never fallen out of love with her very first love, whom she met 18 years ago in Corfu. Expect now that first love is married to her sister, who for this reason she is estranged from. However Ava finds herself back in Corfu and things don’t go as planned, and secrets are revealed. I love @isabelle_broom_author her books instantly have that summer feeling and are always great reads and this one will not disappoint, definitely worth adding to your summer reading pile. This book is full of strong woman, vulnerable woman, woman that want to be loved, woman that are just finding there feet in the world of adulthood, naive woman, woman that have secrets but those secrets they believe are protecting there family, this book is about family. The author makes everything about this book it’s characters and it’s setting jump off every page, as a reader you are transported right there to Corfu, amongst this family. There are twists and turns in the plot, somethings you can see coming, as the author leads you there but at no point does it feel predictable and I couldn’t put it down, especially towards the end where the story really comes alive. For me it ended to soon, I still had questions as to what happened next to certain characters however maybe this is a sign to a really good book where you are left wanting more. I would without a doubt recommend this to friends and family, I was left with a little book hangover. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well this was a story that left me with a great big smile on my face!

I may have at times been utterly convinced I knew what some of the characters were hiding, at other points there were revelations that shocked me and the one thing I convinced myself that was true, was evidently not - which is why I love reading so much, you can never be sure of the journey.

And what a journey these characters take, three sisters all fairly estranged from each other end up in Corfu for the summer, and it was wonderful to get to know Ava, Mattie and Orla, and just why they never see each other.

Add in Ava's almost 18 year old daughter Rosie, a strange man that she seems to be infatuated with, that Ava dislikes almost immediately (and I can't say I blame her), what what we have is a summer that will change lives forever.

There are hot Greek men, delicious sounding food, you definitely get a feel for the pace of life in Corfu and also the strong family values that that Greek hold dear to themselves.

And by the time we get to the last third of the book, I was so engrossed that even when I wasn't reading the characters were on my mind.

This is another fabulous story from Isabelle Broom.

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

Not for me unfortunately. I struggled to get into it and therefore didn't finish it so unable to review in full.

I read this in November on a grey, rainy day, ad hopping off to Greece was an absolutely stunning escape.

I loved the relationship between Ava and Rosie, it was quite similar to that of me and my own mum and lovely to read and connect with.

I loved Isabelle's other books and this was just as exciting as the previous offerings.

Isabelle Broom is one author who always delivers. You're guaranteed an exotic treat without leaving your sofa. The Summer Trip made me long to be in Corfu and is full of the author's trademark warmth, insight and well-rounded characters. Highly recommend.

Isabella Broom's locations are always fabulous and this one was no exception. The backdrop of Corfu was quite something and thanks to the great writing, it was easy to feel the heat and the delightful Greek food seap through the pages. The story was intriguing and I wasn't quite sure what direction it was going to go in, but that just made me read faster and the ending was perfect. Highly recommend.

The Summer Trip is another captivating 5🌟read from Isabelle Broom. I love how she can transport me to beautiful countries, this time Corfu, and take me on an adventure with her characters. The three sisters in this story are wonderful - all so different but each brought together with love and hope. Ava has been holding onto a secret for so long - can she open up to her sisters and daughter so as to move forward with her life? This is such a romantic and emotional story and one to savour.

The story begins by setting the scene of a special mother-daughter relationship, whilst making it clear the mother keeps them separate from her parents and siblings. The mother Ava is devoted, her world revolves around her daughter Rosie, but Rosie is about to turn 18 and go off to University. Tricked into a holiday in Corfu with her sister and her husband, Ava and Rosie settle in to the home in Corfu. Rosie jumps headfirst into her coming of age first love, as Ava flounders in revisiting the tragedy of her first love. This tears at the foundations of their relationship, and the stories between mothers and daughters begins.

The book is transportive, with timely flashbacks and recreated moments. I found the sisters characters to not always be likeable, often they were frustrating, self-pitying and weak and this means they were well plumped out by the author enough for me to form an opinion on them. The themes of betrayal, lost love, and coming of age weave through all of the girls stories, and if I had to identify the core, it would be the parents and their own choices. This is a female perspective story, and even though the mother-daughter trope was hugely at play, their individual experiences came through.

The Corfu of this story is beautiful. I felt as if I was there watching the story play out.

I highly recommend this story from Isabelle Broom for a summer treat.

I loved the setting of this book and the love story between the main characters. The island of Corfu is beautifully described. The characters were a real mix and not all likeable.

Alongside blooming new romances, past summer flings and days spent in the sunshine beside the turquoise seas, twists a more sinister narrative thread of secrets, deception, and, of course, heartbreak. The novel begins with humour, intrigue and serene Greek scenes before the pace begins to speed up, pulling you along for a gripping ride towards the climax.

Gilmore Girls in Greece meets Mama Mia, this is a novel that perfectly brings together romance and love, mystery and intrigue, as it takes you on a unique escape to Corfu alongside Ava and her dysfunctional extended family, all of whom are hiding their own truths.

I loved this book and I just couldn't put it down! The characters and the storyline were flawless and kept the reader hooked throughout.

37 year old Ava is living in Brighton with her 17 year old daughter Rosie and when the opportunity arises, and with a big push from Rosie, they set off to Corfu. When they get to Mattie’s villa, it’s not what Ava thought it was going to be and the atmosphere is tense. She unintentionally overhears a conversation that puts her in an awkward position. Then their sister Lia turns up with her friend Sam. And with Sam fuelling flames, the dynamics and focus change. When their mum and dad turn up, the hurt and pain gear up another notch until it’s all ready to explode.

Ava’s experiences in Corfu 19 years ago give us greater understanding of the conflict today. I was reeled in emotionally and knew what I wanted to happen!

This story has the best anti-hero I’ve read in a long time. From the beginning, I had really strong feelings of dislike and knew what he was up to. Only Ava has her suspicions though so it takes a while to build up to the climax (a good thing!).

One character surprised me. From the way we see her express her disdain, I didn’t think for one moment that she could be supportive. Hidden depths 🙂

Isabelle Broome writes the best settings. I felt so inspired, I designed a crochet blanket with a Greek theme.

I was savouring every word, soaking it all up, until we race to the resolution. OMG, it really was nerve wracking. I couldn’t read the words fast enough (and was even tempted to scan ahead, something I very rarely do).

The Summer Trip was such an emotional read. I loved how complicated it all was. Relationships need untangling at times don’t they and family ones can be the hardest of all. Truths need to be heard, so lives move forward.

Another outstanding read from Isabelle Broome.

I’m clearly missing my Mediterranean holidays as this is the second book I’ve read in recent weeks set on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. You can almost feel the sunscreen on your skin and the sand between your toes as Broom paints a picture of an idyllic island village bathed in sunshine.

Ava is at a crossroads in her life. Divorced and with her teenage daughter about to leave home and go to university she has to come to terms with the idea that things are changing. When her mother organises a house swap between her and her younger sister Mattie it seems like a perfect chance to spend some quality time with daughter Rosie.

The only problem is that it means going back to Corfu, the place where she had her heart broken when she was just eighteen. Naturally all is not as it seems and the estranged sisters find themselves having to deal with the elephant in the room. Can they sort out their issues and those of their younger sister Ophelia before someone’s life is put at risk?

Isabelle Broom is one of my favourite choices for interesting summer holiday books. She always manages to bring the right amount of family drama, romance and intrigue that keep you reading right to the very last page. That said I did manage to work out all of the plot twists in advance on this book but it didn’t spoil the experience at all. Just left me feeling very smug and hankering for a lovely Greek salad!

One of the things I love about an Isabelle Broom book is that I know I'm going to be whisked away to a far-away destinations which for the short period of time whilst reading I can forget about the stresses in my life and instead enjoy the settings through the eyes of the various characters.

The Summer Trip features Ava, and her teenage daughter Rosie, who has been tricked into what she thought was going to be a house swap with her sister Matilda (Mattie) and her husband Niko in Corfu for the Summer. Only if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is as we discover that her mother has a master plan to try and get her daughters to spend time together and reconcile. And before too long their younger sister Ophelia (Lia) makes a sudden appearance too with her boyfriend followed shortly after by their parents so it looks like Ava's plans for a relaxing break in the sun will be anything but!

At first it's not clear why the sisters aren't as close as they used to be when they were younger and don't see each other that often but it's not long before we discover that Mattie is living the life that Ava once dreamed of. I really felt for Ava as it must have been hard for her to come face to face with the first man she ever loved and deal with all her old memories that resurface as a result of being back in Corfu. But life for Mattie isn't as picture-perfect as first thought either and it's clear that she's got her own issues that she's dealing with. And then there's Lia who is not the gregarious sister they once knew, she's a shadow of herself and it's clear that she's trying to blot out something terrible that has happened to her. Will the sisters be able to help each other heal during their unplanned summer together?

The majority of the storyline is set in the present day following all the family dramas that ensue once the Fox family arrive on the island but there were also chapters from nineteen years ago during Ava's first trip to Corfu providing an insight into her first serious relationship and how everything fell apart. All of the characters were well-developed and relatable with their flaws and issues although there was one that I would have gladly pushed overboard and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that!

Over the years Isabelle Broom's books have taken us to many destinations but Corfu is only the place that I have visited myself, although not to Kalami, and the descriptive writing of the scenery and places that Ava visits gave me a real sense of being there alongside her. As for the mentions of food and drink, I constantly found my taste buds watering at the thought of sitting at the family taverna working my way through the menu.

The gorgeous cover might depict an idyllic holiday but there's so much more being explored within the pages of this book, family dynamics, buried secrets and complex relationships are all tackled with sensitivity.

Gorgeous summer read.

17 years ago, as an 18 year old teen, Ava visits Corfu with her family and falls in love with handsome Greek boy Nico. When family tragedy strikes, Nico has to help the family run the restaurant and the couple break up leaving Ava broken hearted.

Roll on to present day Ava is a single mum living in Brighton and Mattie is now married to Ava’s teenage sweetheart. Ava returns to Corfu with her daughter for the summer and has to cope with living under the same roof as Nico and Mattie, who is not aware of her sister’s holiday romance with her husband all those years ago.

A beautiful story to read whilst on your holidays.

Wow what an amazing outstanding book by the author, I have read all the other authors books and this one is my favourite , This Book tells the story of Ava who 18 years ago falls in love with a Greek Local but her heart is broken when she has return back to the uk, has she ever got over her 1st love ? what follows is a magic book that tells the story of 3 sisters who aren't close but there parents play a trick on them and all 3 sisters end up in Corfu at the same time, without giving any spoilers away what follows is a magic story that had my dreaming last night after I Had finished of visiting Corfu and the places that were mentioned in the book.

Little does Ava know that she has been set up until she arrives at her sister Mattie’s house in Corfu. It starts to bring back memories for Ava, ones she has tried to forget. Then her other sister Ophelia arrives to visit from Thailand. Can they all got on and enjoy their summer together or will memories come to the surface and break them apart.

A good book about families, secrets and love.

I am a huge fan of Isabelle Broom and she is definitely one of my favourite authors. She also very kindly named a character after me in one of her books, A Year and a Day which I was delighted with. The beautiful descriptions of the setting inspired me to go to Prague with my family. It was so detailed that I knew exactly what to look for when I was there. Now I want to go to Corfu for a delicious taste of Greece, you really don't need a guide book to all these wonderful destinations, you don't even need to get on a plane as Isabelle's books leave you feeling like you've just spent a chillaxing fortnight in the glorious sunshine.

The Summer Trip is about Ava who inadvertently ends up on holiday with her daughter in Corfu, a place she hasn't visited since she was a teenager. I loved the twist at the beginning and thought it was really clever how her mum persuaded her to go.

Once there she is reunited with her two sisters and her brother in law Niko the sexy love god. The three sisters couldn't be more different to each other and it was interesting to see how the story weaved through their dysfunctionality as a family. I really felt for Ava when her daughter seemed to be being led astray and the strong emotions she went through on trying to protect her with all her heart and having to let her grow into a woman.

The setting once again was described beautifully and Isabelle manages to transport the reader to each new destination with ease. I could imagine sitting in Niko's family's taverna enjoying the delicious food or swimming in the glistening sea.

Seeing Niko again stirs up memories for Ava and she is weighed down by secrets from the past. Although her sister is living the life she wanted she doesn't seem happy and her bullying mother in law doesn't help matters. When Ava has to move rooms because one of her sisters is rather noisy in the bedroom she overhears a private conversation between her other sister Mattie and Niko and realises that all is not is how it should be in this marriage.

A story of family complications, mixed emotions, sun, sea and secrets this story has everything I've come to expect and love in an Isabelle Broom book.
