Another great read is Next In Line by Jeffrey Archer which I received from Harpercollins UK and Harperfiction via Netgalley and it will be out on 27 September.
The story takes place in 1988 and focuses on a few different stories of which most are ultimately interwoven at the end. The main story is about the Royalty Protection Command concerning the protection of the people's princess. And that is is quite the exciting story!
I had some difficulty at the start of this book because of the many different characters. However, once I was in the flow of this book it went like a train. Fast-paced, filled with action and quite the interesting subject to read about. It is most definitely a recommendation.
4/5⭐
This series was new to me so I wasn’t sure about jumping in to book 5 but I needn’t have worried, great characters and easy to pick up on who was who. After that there was lovely nostalgia from 1988 and plenty of clever mixing of fact and fiction. Plenty of trickery and double crossing to keep things moving, an easy read from start to finish. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy.
Another great page turner by Jeffrey Archer. Main plot involves Protectionist officers securing life of Princess Diane. The subplot is the crooked Art dealer Miles Faulkner and the equally? crooked lawyer Booth Lawson. Very enjoyable holiday read.
What an excellent read. Jeffrey Archer at his best. Brilliant cunning plot, double, double dealings, loads happening all at once but all the threads twisted together in harmony to give the complete picture. I had a job putting it down. Even though is is the same characters and follows from the previous books on it is also a ‘stand alone’ story. Can’t wait for the next.
Hmmm I have to say that Jeffrey Archer no longer captures my imagination through his story telling. It all seems too predictable, the goodies are goodies and the baddies are, yes you guessed it, baddies. A couple of twists but not thrilled.
Couldn't wait for this one. I love archers books and once again he didn't disappoint. It was a fantastic read.
Thanks for the arc
One of my all time favourite authors. I really do not need to read the blog as I know I'm always in for a treat.
Unputdownable as always, from the first sentence to the last Archer has you totally glued to the pages.
Two stories running parallel, Miles Faulkner is in prison and his QC BW is up to his usual tricks.
Warwick is tasked to head up Royal protection with his team where Hogan is in charge of looking after Princess Diana which is by no means easy, especially when she wants to jump out of the car to pop into a shop!
Archer's attention to detail is admiring. Some of it goes over my head but that man is very clever.
I also like the fact that we get to see the family side of Warwick with his wife Beth and children. I loved the conversations between Artemisia and the princess.
The only thing I was disappointed with was not being able to 'see' BW's face when he would go to the safety deposit boxes. I'm sure we will find out in the next book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK for the ARC in return for an honest review.
Another excellent book in the William Warwick series. Excellents plots interlinked one of which features one of my favourite idols. Cannot wait for the next one in this series. Keep writing them Jeffrey
Absolutely loved this book. And how it all came together and all the connections. Brilliantly written and keen to read more from this series. Definitely an author I will be reading more of.
Another page-turner from Jeffrey Archer, the fourth in his William Warwick Novels series. Set in the Thatcher era with a nod to Colonel Ghadaffi and the legend of Princess Di, the multiple story-lines and well-researched background make this a novel not be missed. Could it actually have happened? Maybe it did and was all hushed up? Will we ever know?
I love Jeffrey Archers books, and Next in Line is no exception. I read this all in one sitting and I highly recommend
Jeffrey Archer is always a great read.
This new book got me interested from the start. A great page-turner!
DCI William Warwick is back and now heads up Royal Protection. Fantastic plot, superb characters and a really interesting storyline including Princess Diana.
Read and enjoy, it’s a great read.
Really engaging, well paced story, made better by the fact that I felt I knew the characters as I’d read the previous book in the series, The time setting was interesting - during Mrs Thatcher’s time as PM and playing on the rumours of the time that Princess Diana was having affairs. I loved the action and intrigue of the story about the main crook being intermingled with the troubles of Libya. Faster paced than the previous book and well written.
Another fabulous read from Jeffrey Archer! I was gripped from the very first page and we were gifted with not just one story line but a series of high tension events all written in his trademark breath taking style. The 'cross and double cross' occur many times and I never managed to work out what was happening in advance but somehow Archer never lets you lose track of the plots and sub-plots while at the same time giving life to his many great characters. A superb read!
When I had started the series I was quite skeptical about the plot. However Im so glad I read the books because now I can't wait for the next instalment to come out! This one in the series was as great as the previous ones and the sharp mind of Warwick and the cunningness of Miles and Booth will keep you entertained for many happy hours! Must read!
Set in 1988 and Britain is in love with HRH Diana. This is the fifth instalment of the DCI William Warwick series. His team is now investigating the Royalty Protection Command, who have the task of protecting Princess Diana. Also running along side this story is a criminal with a fine art collection that is unrivalled. (Please read the first four in this series!!!!) As ever Jeffrey Archer spins an absolutely riveting tale. All the characters are here, Miles Faulkner and Booth Watson QC are up to their usual nefarious schemes for making even more money than they could ever spend. More twist and turns that eventually all link up.....such a great read....!!!
Haven't read any of Jeffery Archer's books before, but now understand why they are so popular. If you want a tale to keep you gripped until the last page, 'Next in Line' is for you. It involves police - both good and not-so-good, lawyers - again good and those not working for their clients; Old Masters and the Royal Family. What more could you want? Recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an ARC.
I absolutely enjoyed this latest novel from Jeffrey Archer. His fifth book featuring William Warwick and Princess Diana. Set in 1988, Princess Diana has a new beau but is he what he seems, proving a headache for the Royal Protection Command. Also the story of Miles Faulkner and his lawyer continues from his previous novel, each trying to outdo the other. A brilliant novel and easily can be read as a stand alone.
Arrives In Frenetic Flourish…
The latest rollercoaster ride has arrived in a frenetic flourish in the fifth of the William Warwick series and set amidst a London firmly in the grip of a Royalist frenzy in the form of the ‘People’s Princess’. The elitist Royalty Protection Command is in sharp focus. With Warwick investigating, Hogan is charged with another rather more obscure responsiblity. Lives and plotlines intertwine for a pacy, frantic thrill ride with a well crafted cast and an immersive storyline once again, from a natural born storyteller.
