This book is completely adorable, from its fun illustrations to the perfect cat voice of its narration. The text is simple, but so evocative, and it scans perfectly throughout which is always something I look for in a picture book. The cat's expressions are wonderful (and I love that he looks a bit like my cat). It's just lovely - sweet, funny, and full of cattishness. I'm definitely buying a physical copy of this for my little one!

Perhaps four stars are slightly generous, but I would not discourage anyone at least looking at this rhymed picture book showing us the cat's life. All the stereotypes are here, from their choice of sleeping place, to their dislike of us having a lie-in when it's breakfast time, to their faux bravery when they see an intruder – ie, reflection of themself – in a mirror. Some of the word-work to get the rhymes all together are a little forced, but again it's not unpleasant to read, and the target audience should find it all nicely cartoonish and appealing.
