A follow on from Mixed by the same author, this title explores what might happen when families change and new people become part of our lives. Using simple illustrations and bright colours, this is a good introduction to different families for young readers.
Remixed is a lovely picture book that simultaneously tells the story of both a family and a band who both grow and experience changes. It shows that sometimes in life people go their separate ways but provides hope that things can work out, and can be even be better than before. This an important and reassuring message for children who might find themselves in a similar situation and for others to see that there are different types of families. I think children will enjoy looking at the pictures and spot different things on re-reading as there is so much to look at.
A lovely little story that would be perfect for discussion around changing relationships, divorce and blended families. The colours tell of how families can and may change, and the experiences that may evolve from such changes. A short but important book.
This was in interesting book - it was a different take on exploring families and how they change (it took us a while to get in to it as I was expecting more of a colour mixing book) think it could be useful for pastoral teams in schools and would keep and eye out for a copy to add to our primary school.
Thank you very much NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange of my honest opinion.
What a sweet book! I loved it!
It is a great one to explain to young children divorce and/separation.
With some very colourful and vibrant examples, Remixed explains in a very easy way that separations are most of the time for the best, that changes are good and that parents are most probably be more happy that way, giving their children a better version of themselves.
This book is so cute. I love the way that it uses the coloured blobs to represent families and how they can change and mix. I read it with the children at my school and it promoted some great conversation about family structures, blended families and how their families are made up. I think this book would be a really good way to talk to younger children about what is happening when there is a family break down and how things might be sad and difficult at the time but that they will get better. I also think it would be great in schools to use to allow them to help children who are experiencing this.
