This is book 3 in a series that is set in Lost Beach, Texas, and has recurring characters but each book focuses on a different pair of main characters. I have somehow missed book 1 but I have read 2 & 3 and I will be going back for the first one asap. They can all be read as stand alones though. I love this series because it is the perfect balance of murder and romance. The murder kept me guessing until the end which is added to the suspense of whether Owen and Macy will do anything about their attraction to each other. There are also a range of other lovable characters that I hope we get to see more of.

I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Back to Lost Beach, Tx we go!

Macey needs a fresh start. Once an up-and-coming investigative reporter, she last her love for the job after her reporting led to tragedy, even though she was not to blame. Now she's going to make a name for herself making promotional; videos for tourism. But once a reporter, always a reporter and she quickly finds herself immersed in a murder investigation when it comes to light that she is now living in the murder victim's home.

Owen feels that he's not quite cut out for being an investigator, unlike his brother. But he's the lead detective in the new murder and ensuring that there are no leaks to the press, after all one of those involved is the son of a law enforcement colleague. When his involvement with Macey comes to light it just makes his job that wee bit harder - could he be sleeping with the leak?

I get sucked into the world so quickly that it's like I've never been away! This small coastal town in Texas is fast racking up the body count! I really enjoyed the chemistry between Owen and Macey - it wasn't insta-love but definitely an instant attraction. Seeing the characters from the previous books just makes everything flow so well and you never have to work hard to love them. There were enough twists to make you work hard to solve the murder.

Great setting, engaging and charismatic characters and I'm on tenterhooks for book 4!

This romantic suspense novel kept me entertained and enthralled over the course of a couple of days whilst on a beach holiday.
If you like a good mystery thriller with some romance thrown in this is definitely the book for you.
Macey Burns is an ex reporter who has left her previous job under a cloud and moved to a Texas beach resort for the Summer, employed by the town to make a tourist film, promoting the area. She has set up her own production company with one of her old colleagues.
However things do not go as planned- there has been a murder in the town and Detective Owen Breda is up to his neck investigating. Macey is living in the dead woman’s rental property and gets involved in the investigation.
Owen and Macey are soon on the trail of the killer and it becomes very dangerous for them both, particularly Macey. As well as the murder to contend with, Macey realises she is starting to have feelings for Owen.
I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book and the romance was an added bonus. I have read one of the earlier Texas Murder file books so was pleased to receive this review copy via NetGalley.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Midnight Dunes by Laura Griffin in return for my honest review.
If you want a well written romantic suspense then Laura Griffins books are for you, I really enjoyed Midnight Dunes it has everything you want a good story line with plenty of suspense and believable characters. It has just the right amount of suspense and romance ratio. Although this is the third book in the Texas Murder Files series it can easily be read a standalone.

I really enjoyed this murder mystery/ light thriller. The plot kept me fully entertained and was a great read. The characters were well rounded and whilst it was a bit of an escapist read it was still fast paced and really enjoyable. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy.

I really love all sorts of suspense/crime type romance novels so this was a highly anticipated book from the second I read the description.
Sadly, while it was good, overall I didn't feel a huge connection to the characters or even the mystery as a whole. I was hoping for a lot more and I guess I just didn't love it. It was still a good read though, and I wouldn't say it was bad by any means.
3.5 stars overall, and I think you should check it out!
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Midnight Dunes by Lauren Griffin through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

After a scandal derails her television reporting career, Macy Burns is looking for a change of pace in Lost Beach, Texas. She's ready to focus on her first passion - documentary filmmaking - and has a new job working for the island's tourism board, shooting footage of the idyllic beachside community. Her plans for a relaxing rebound are dashed when she realizes the cottage she's renting belonged to the woman whose body was just found in the sand dunes.

Detective Owen Breda is under intense pressure to solve this murder. Violent crimes are rising in his small town, and he can't stand to see anyone else hurt . . . especially not the beautiful documentarian who keeps showing up at the precinct.

With the clock ticking, cameras rolling, and body count climbing, Macy and Owen must use all their resources to find the killer without getting caught in the crosshairs.

Will keep you on the edge of your seat and will have your heart racing. Wow, what a fantastic read!
