Such a cute book! Loved the pictures and the lessons taught within. I would love to share this one with my 1st grade students!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A cute lift-and-flap book about what a puppy is going to do.
This is a simple lift the flap book where it shows a picture of puppy, lift the flap and ask the question. What is the puppy going to do with the slipper? The next page is the answer. This book will probably be a semi popular board book, but I feel it doesn’t have 20 years of staying power. It’s a “one and done” print.
Carly Madden’s What is Puppy Going to Do? is a delightful and colourful book filled with adventure. The full-page adorable illustrations as well as the simple repetitive writing make this a lovely and easy read for your very little ones.
The super simple and interactive storyline follows several cute puppies as they play and explore the world with their human friends and families. Children are encouraged to look at the puppies’ activities and try to guess what they are about to do.
This is a very simple but engaging and entertaining book. The repetition makes it very easy-to-follow. The fun question and answer format is perfect for engaging very young children. Little ones will love guessing what puppy is up to!
The full-page and full-colour illustrations are super sweet and adorable! Every page is filled with bright colours, movement, and interesting activities. I love all the different but equally cute puppies with their friendly and happy faces.
🐶🐶🐶🐶 out of 5 puppies!
This book is very cute! Who doesn't love a puppy book?! The illustration's are cute and the story is sweet too. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Cute puppies, what’s not to love! I had pdf version but I would imagine the actual book would warrant 5*!
My daughter loved this book, which is aimed at babies and toddlers. It is bright and colourful, with cute graphics and flaps that lift up to reveal each of the things a little puppy will do. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an advance copy from NetGalley.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. Who doesn’t love a book about puppies?? While the illustrations were cute, and the puppy was very mischievous which is always funny, I thought it missed an opportunity for a lesson. Since it’s geared towards small children, it felt like it was saying it was funny to be bad. I’m sure that was not the intention, so if that’s overlooked, it’s a sweet read.
Adorable board book for toddlers! It's interactive and asks the reader what they think is going to happen next in each scene. I love that it encourages children to stop and think about what will happen. This will be a fun book to read with the little ones!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
I won a free e-copy of this book in a contest. Thanks to Netgalley and Happy Yak for the opportunity.
I didn't realize this was a lift the flap book. That didn't translate well through e-book format. I feel like this would be a much better physical book than e-book.
Cute illustrations! I appreciated the wiener dog representation. It looked like my dog, Scooby.
This is a colourful board book from the Flap Flap series, which are interactive books with flaps for babies and toddlers. In this book, children are encouraged to look at what the puppy is playing with, guess what will happen and then open the flap to check. This would be a great introduction to the world of reading where predicting is an important skill to hone. There are very few words on a page and the pictures tell the story more than the words, so it is definitely something that young children can enjoy with or without adults reading to them. I would definitely recommend this book to parents of children in the 1-4 age range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This book would be great for a preschool class in making predictions about what the puppy is going to do based off what they’re currently doing/have. The illustrations are bright and engaging. Super sweet and simple book!
Thanks to Netgalley and Happy Yak for a free digital copy.
A very cute little flap book about a puppy's silly antics. The illustrations are darling and it has some good concepts that kids can learn from this simple story.
Who doesn't love the innocence and sweetness of a brand new puppy? This book highlights all the fun things that a little puppy may do. He loves to explore and play and is curious about the world around him.
The narrative is simple with repetition and there's opportunity to lift and peek behind flaps which will be very enjoyable for the little ones. Interactive books are much loved by this targeted age group.
The question, "What will puppy do?" also challenges young minds to think and verbally respond to that query. The illustrations are adorable and the diverse puppies portrayed will certainly spark and keep a wee one's interest. I highly recommend this book for any child that delights in puppies and their spontaneous behaviour!
This is so cute! Everything is so freaking cute when it comes to this picture book! Lucky are the kids and the guardians who get to read along because.... I repeat it's so darn cute!
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group Frances Lincoln Children's, for the advance reading copy.
The illustrations, the presentation, the lines: is the world ready for the cuteness overload?
I guess so!
What a cute book about all of the things a little puppy will do!! With a simple, repetitive narrative, young children will definitely be draw in - especially with the physical book and the ability to lift the flaps. I love interactive childrens books and this was a fun one. The repeated question "What will puppy do?" Is a great open ended question to get young children thinning about different actions.
𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for a digital copy of this book! This book is out now!

My daughter adored this book even though she's probably older than the target audience at five. It's a novel take on a peek-a-boo style book with a question being posed and the the answer being hidden behind a lovely sturdy flap. This book will delight babies and younger children but equally children my daughter's age who are reading themselves will enjoy reading the repeated refrains and discovering what puppy is doing. An ideal book for an older sibling to share with a younger sibling. The illustrations are adorable and my daughter loved each of the different puppies. Loved it!
Thank you #HappyYak #QuartoKids and #NetGalley for the ARC and eARC,
My first reaction when reviewing child's fiction is the illustrations, the lesson that is being taught, and the character development. I use the same characters that i use when I review in adult novels; however' children have higher expectations in their books, a kido will not dance around looking for the plot. The focal group of this group of this picture book are toddlers and the story is an interactive story and the young reader will quickly memorize the story. "Puppy has a stick. What is Puppy going to do?" The young reader than choses said item, plus Puppy goes on many fun adventures and Puppy"s friends look completly different than each other.I would highly reccomend "What is Puppy Going to Do?"as a first story for toddlers. Thank you Carly Madden, Quarto Publishing Group, NetGalley for the oppurtunity read and post an honest review. \
My daughter and I read this cute book together and it reminded me so much of some of her favorite books from when she was younger! Her favorite page was one with the slippers. The artwork was nicely drawn and seeing all the cute types of puppies and kids was wonderful. I recommend this book for children ages 0-5, or even older, especially if they can read it together!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reading copy of the book. Review contains my own thoughts and opinions.
This book’s illustrations reminded me of the books I used to read when I was little. Such a good throwback!
What is puppy going to do? is about little puppies who are going on adventures, but what are they going to do?
I really liked the pictures, as mentioned in the intro, it reminded me of my childhood. It was an easy read book, and I believe it will be a great book for young readers. It has lift-the-flap, so the question to what the dog will do is something the parent can discuss with the child.
