Robert Bryndza writes fast-moving crime novels based in London, but there's so much more to them than that. A cleverly written, compelling page-turned, Fatal Witness features a wonderfully unique protagonist in Slovakian detective Erica Foster. She's strong, capable and smart with a fantastically complex back story that makes for great reading. Fatal Witness is a real page-turner but there's a depth to it as well that's often missing from popular crime fiction. Highly recommended.

I’ll start by saying while this book is #7 in the ‘Detective Foster’ series, this is the first book of this series that I’ve read. While it may be the first, it certainly will not be the last! I really enjoyed this read.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved the suspense, and the fact that I was constantly left guessing. The case Detective Erica Foster is working on in this book very interesting, and took so many different turns throughout.

I will definitely be reading more of this author and series in the future.

I first bumped (bookwise!) into Robert Bryndza about six years ago when I read the first Erika Foster. I enjoyed it and knew he and I would meet again! I think I waited a little too long, because this book reminded me what a terrific author he is. You know when you read a good book and think, wow, I've got to read ALL his/her books? Mr B is that author!

Erika is seven adventures in now and despite not having read five of them, at no point did I feel at sea with any missing information. This was perfectly standalone. A tense, frustrating (for Erika) and difficult investigation following the murder of two young girls keeps you engaged and frantically turning the pages. At no point did I guess who did it. I had a stab or two, certainly, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

The book fully deserves the five stars I've given it for plot, characters and writing, but if I could give six I would, the extra being for Bryndza humbly thanking his readers in his acknowledgements. Few authors do, but those that give us a nod have a special place in my TBR. It's a two-way thing: an author writes for a reader's pleasure and for that, I'm very grateful and, if I'm honest in awe. But an author doesn't really have a book without his or her readers, so thank you, Mr B, for your well-received thanks and appreciation.

I wasted no time and am already twenty-five percent into Bryndza's latest Kate Marshall. No six-year wait this time!

Another fantastic thriller from Robert Bryndza following DCI Erica Foster as she investigates the murder of a local woman, as always lots of twists and turns kept me guessing right up until the end. A real page turner.

I always enjoy Robert Bryndza books and this one was no different. I love this series and it was great to get a chance to catch up and read this latest instalment. I like Erika and the team, and the mystery in this one kept leading me different ways and in the end the killer was not who I expected it to be.

Would recommend and looking forward to more.

True-crime podcaster Vicky Clarke was brutally murdered as Detective Erika Foster was out late one night in Blackheath, near her new home. When Erika is given the case, she learns that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a predator who preys on young female students in South London, stalking his victims in their residence halls before breaking in at all hours of the night. Erika becomes certain that Vicky was on the verge of identifying her killer and that she was murdered to ensure her quiet when she learns that her notes and audio recordings were removed from her apartment at the time of her death. Erika is forced to reevaluate what she believed she knew about Vicky when the body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is found in the same building, giving the case a sinister turn. Time is running out to identify the murderer before he commits another crime with such little proof.

This entry is the seventh in a very popular crime series. Fatal Witness can be read independently. For a better understanding of this incredibly complex detective and her team, you might also wish to pick up past volumes. The dark and unsettling book Fatal Witness has some interesting turns. I was kept alert by the killer’s mystery. Regarding the perpetrator and the search for him, I loved how Erika can pursue the clues she finds and that her instincts are still highly commendable for pointing her in the correct direction—though perhaps not always at the greatest moment. Erika still has a long road to recovery from her most recent wounds, but I am eager to see her again and am hoping to hear from Igor soon.

After various suspicions and numerous dead ends, the intricate, steadily pacing plot comes to a thrilling conclusion. I particularly appreciated how the author revealed more of Erika’s private life, including her Slovak relatives and the beginning of a flourishing romance. This was a true page-turner that had me hooked right away. This was a true page-turner that had me hooked right away. Bryndza consistently creates original and creative plotlines; oh, and I had no idea who the culprit was! Fans of the author and the series will likely like this compelling and gritty crime novel, and it has me eagerly anticipating the next installment.

This was my first whodunnit by Robert Bryndza, after reading all of his books in the Coco Pinchard series. Unlike some characters from television series, movies or books, I enjoyed reading about Erika as she was so down to earth - as if she could have been a neighbor from down the street. The story flowed easily with quite a few surprises.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Another terrific Bryndza book.
I really like Roberts writing style, his stories draw you in deeply and you want to keep reading.
Detective Erika is walking home to her new house, past a building of flats and hears a high scream.
She discovers Tess has gone to her sister’s flat and discovered her murdered body.
Quite a bit of investigating and more murders. Will Erika solve the mystery or will she become one herself.
Highly recommended. Can’t wait for the next book.

Another great addition to the Erika Foster series. Once I started to read this book, I didn't put it down until I turned the last Kindle page. It is thrilling, fast-paced, and keeps you guessing. Erika Foster is investigating the murder of Vicky Clarke who works at her sister's restaurant and runs a true-crime podcast. I really enjoyed this book and hope there is many more in this series! The same audible narrator narrates all the books and does a great job if you'd rather listen than read.

Robert Bryndza gained popularity for his police-procedural thriller "Detective Erika Foster" series. Fatal Witness is the 7th book in the series and quite good too.

A young woman is brutally murdered in her own home and Erika, who happens by when the woman is discovered, gets pulled into the investigation. She, along with her team of detectives, launch the investigation into her death and are almost immediately impeded when they try to interrogate Richard, one of the other tenants in the apartment, who happens to be the brother of the police Commissioner. . Thus begins a convoluted investigation which throws a curve at the detectives at every junction and the fact that many of the evidences are destroyed doesn't help too.

Do Erika and her team of detectives manage to figure out the truth? If yes, how do they manage it? Who is the perpetrator? We get to know these things in a crisply written story with enough twists to keep us engaged. The protagonist Erika is a regular woman filled with vulnerabilities and insecurities. She is good at her job; she is thorough and doesn't let go of something until she has completely drawn it out and flipped it over. I would say the author wanted to make Erika more human; I can't say it worked for me but it does help us to identify with her much more easily and that's clever writing. The other characters are fleshed out sufficiently enough to aid the narrative.

However, whatever drawbacks I felt the narrative style had, was not detrimental of my enjoyment of the story. And the main reason for that would be the pace and the narrative style of the story. The story starts on full gear and never much goes down even when the investigation stalls because of the ominous atmosphere the author Robert manages to maintain. He also has managed to throw in quite a good number of red herrings and very cleverly too; so much so that, I continued to play the guessing game even if I had a good idea about who the culprit might be.

Do read this book if you are into fast- paced investigative thrillers containing unique and vulnerable people.

Firstly, I must thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book.

It is the first book featuring Erika Foster I have read, but as this was a standalone story this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. It is an exciting thriller, with lots of twists and turns, and had me captivated from the very beginning. I liked the character, Erika, and look forward to reading further instalments in this series.

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more from him in the future. This is a well written story about what happens when the killer you are in search of destroys the evidence so you can't find them. You don't want to miss what happens in this story. The twists and turns had me turning pages fast and kept me coming back for more. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story with ease. They are creative and engaging. They brought life to the story and just made the story for me. I really enjoyed this suspense in this story. I highly recommend this book.
