DI Helen Grace is back in charge of a much changed MIT after her team was rocked by D'S Hudson's attempt to disgrace her leadership with the help of her boss. Southampton is rocked by the violent burglaries and murder of two people from wealthy families.. Her boss wants her out of the force, a former adversary is plotting her murder, and the local press are relentless in attacking her ability to run the investigation. MJ Arlidge is back at his best with this fast paced thriller.
How much more can Helen Grace take of being beaten, battered and bruised in her relentless pursuit of truth and justice? A fitting addition to the series that doesn't disappoint with plenty of page-turning moments and twists.
I love DI Helen Grace and this case is as creepy as ever with many twists, turns and action, however I struggled to connect emotionally to her and Charlie's plight this time around. It's still a good book but its not as strong as the earlier ones which had stronger backstories and chemistry between the characters and team.
I honestly can’t wait to read the next Helen Grace book. This latest one is as fabulous as ever. Fast paced, exciting, our favourite DI is back!!
My goodness m j arlidge never fails to impress with Di Helen Grace ,full of drama and murders this kept me up way too late .Another masterpiece .
DI Helen Grace at it again! This time she and Southampton Central are kept on their toes with a serial killer. As per usual, for Grace it’s all gung-ho stuff, with no mention of any recovery time 🤣. Wonder Woman would be impressed.
This plot has all the ingredients, gore, murder, robbery, violence, deceit, you name it, it’s been thrown in.
A good plot, though the copy I received was so poorly strung together it was hard going reading it, jumping from one narrative to the next. Hopefully the finished article will have proper chapters and flow better.
If you like far fetched escapism and derringdo, you will love this.
Thank you NetGalley.
I enjoyed the story of DI Helen Grace facing a killer who targets people at home alone, whilst facing her own adversary. She gets herself into many scrapes and causes issues with her bosses
However I really struggled to read the book due to disjointed sentences and paragraphs, I'm not sure if this is the authors intention to keep the reader on their toes but I found it really hard to concentrate when I'm reading about something then the sentence just changes completely to a totally different subject/scenario, for this reason I'm afraid to say I've knocked a couple of stars off.
I was eagerly anticipating the next book in the Helen Grace series, and this didn't disappoint! A silent killer stalks Southampton - breaking into homes when people are alone and killing them in their most vulnerable moments, before taking their belongings and disappearing into the night.
Fresh off her last case with a very personal connection, Helen is paranoid - hunted down by a killer who can convince the most ordinary people to do his bidding. She is doubted by those around her - can she stay alive long enough to escape the silent killers?
This is another huge success of a book, and ties up a lot of the loose ends left in the past couple of books. An easy 5* choice.
I love the Helen Grace series of books so wasn’t at all surprised to enjoy this. It started well and just kept going. Fast paced, lots of drama and I spotted a little red herring too which pulled me in!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
