Brilliant fast paced thriller. One that is very hard to put dow.n. Great characters that are in many cases feisty women who know what they want in their careers.
Very enjoyable. Sorry to have finished it
Book 11 in this gripping series and we join Helen and the team soon after the events of book 10 with Helen looking over shoulder as the threat of attack from a recent nemesis feels imminent.
But she still has a job to do and she soon finds herself on the tail of a killer stalking people alone in their homes. With no pattern immediately showing itself, Helen and the team are up against it to find them before they strike again.
A tense and fast-paced investigation follows with all the usual faces involved. Charlie is back after having her second daughter, but issues at home are affecting her work. Annoying journalist Emilia is still hanging around like a bad smell, but this time seems to have grown a little bit of a conscience! And with her boss seeming to be doing everything to get Helen off the team, she is fighting battles on all fronts.
This could probably be read as a standalone, but to get the full backstory and to fully understand the characters and their relationships (and because they are all great!) I highly recommend reading from the start!
This was my first Helen Grace thriller but it will not be my last! Tense, fast paced, and a complete page turner. I also loved Helen and her loyal team. Highly recommended.
A face paced, page turner thriller. I haven’t read any others in the series, but I will now. I loved the different perspectives and the snippets of the characters lives. Short chapters meant my one more chapter reads went on a lot longer, I needed to know what happened next.
A really great thrilling read.
Thanks to Net Gallery for an advanced copy for my honest review but honestly it was great, throughly enjoyed it.

DI Helen Grace and her team are called in to solve the brutal murder of a seeminly happily married woman, who was discovered by her husband, lying bound, in a pool of blood, and in their own bed. In the next room their young child is left unharmed, but there is evidence pointing to the murderer entering the room at some point.
As the investigation begins, Helen is battling her own issues, as a criminal from a previous case is out for revenge and vows that he will kill her, and Emilia Garanita, a reporter who Helen has has run-ins with before on the prowl to find any juicy tid-bits that she can publish, both of the current case, and to ruin Helen. She isn't the only one who would love to end Helen's career though, as Chief Superintendent Alan Peters is out for blood too.
The book is fast paced, lots of twists and turns, and as the bodies pile up, keeps you guessing who the murderer could be.
I love Helen's character, she can be relied upon to be the first one in on the action, and her bravery is boundless.
Her team are loyal to the last, which makes them such a formidable force for good.
Although this is one of a series, it is the first time I have read about Helen Grace. I will certainly be looking out for more, and will start the series from book one.
Loved it!!
Another instalment in the brilliant DI Helen Grace series. This latest offering has Grace and her team trying to establish why a seemingly happy and successful woman would be brutally murdered in her own home whilst her young child is asleep in the next room. Whilst this case is distressing enough arch-nemeses Emilia Garanita, Alex Blythe continue to try and poke the bear in Grace whilst Chief Superintendent Alan Peters is waiting for any slip up on Grace’s part to warrant her dismissal. The character Helen Grace is well written and gives her all to serve the community and resolve hideous crimes. It appears at times that she is super human and I am hoping that she doesn’t run out of her 9 lives.
Well worth a read.
This is book #11 in the Helen Grace series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book. I have to admit that I missed the last two books of this series and need to quickly catch up with them. I just couldn’t resist however, going against all my principles, and reading this latest instalment out of order. I’ve obviously missed a big Helen Grace storyline, but I was able to easily catch on without feeling like I was going to create spoilers for the books I’ve missed! I have loved Grace’s character in the previous books I’ve read, but she definitely seems a different person in this book. Grace and her team are investigating some brutal murders, but she’s also having to watch her own back as someone is out to kill her.
The storyline was fast paced and got into the action straight away. Grace was always tough and feisty, but she seems to have lost some of that edge to her however. I liked the dual storyline of the investigation and Grace’s potential killer. Both were gripping and held the suspense high throughout. The investigation had just the right amount of twists and turns, and I had no idea who the killer was throughout the book. Grace’s threat to life is thrilling and sent shivers down my spine at the thought of someone watching and waiting. We also see lots of tension within Grace’s team, and in particular from her boss who seems hell bent on having her removed from her role.
All in all, this was a fabulous read! I think I’ve missed the previous two books as I lost interest in the last one I read, but this has definitely come back with a bang for me and has made me want to catch up with the rest of the series. This was a thrilling, exciting storyline which grabbed my attention from the very first page. It was full of lots of shocks and surprises which I really enjoyed! Would recommend!
Excellent as always! Helen Grace is one of the best series I have read, and I could see it being made into a TV series. Something to look forward to, the next installment with Helen. I look forward to the next!
Fantastic book. I love this series and really like Helen grace and how fearless she is. This book will keep you gripped from the beginning. We have 2 things going on here which is the people being murdered and Helen grace avoiding death by the perpetrator in the last book. I'm not sure how many lives she has but must have used up a lot by now. Can not wait for the next book.
There is a sadistic killer on the loose and Detective Helen Grace and her team are on the case. Grace is still on guard, the threat of Alex Blythe still hanging over her, knowing that anyone she meets could be there to kill her.
This is a fast paced, intense novel that had me perched on the edge of my seat and unable to put the book down. Another wonderfully gripping story from MJ Arlidge and a must read.
A great thriller, this is a fine addition to the Helen Grace series.
This sees Helen yet again battling with her boss and being stalked, with someone intent on getting rid of Helen for good, along with some pretty grizzly murders.
I wonder how much longer Helen can fight another day and survive yet another attack.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review
3.5
I've finished reading Cat & Mouse by @m_j_arlidge and I rate it 5 stars 🌟
When you think you're safe,
When you think you're all alone,
That's when he'll come for you... so be ready for a chilling thrilling ride!
I'm a Huge fan of the DI Helen Grace series I've read every single one of them and they are all brilliant so I was really looking forward to reading the new one wherever it would live up to my expectations of how brilliant the previous books are and it did for sure.
With a crazed killer on the lose and another madman looking to kill DI Helen Grace the team have a lot goings-on can they catch the killer in time can they stop the hit on DI Grace or will this be the end of the line for the famous detective once and for all.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish I think it's one of the best in the series the story Is brilliant the characters are fantastic, it's tense and acton packed until the very end, buy one thing I love about these books is the friendship between Helen and Charlie long may it continue, I couldn't put it down it was very twisty this is one book not to be missed!
A fast paced thriller which will have you gripped. If you are home alone at night then they are coming for you. Unfortunately, the detective inspector on the case is being hunted by a psychopath too. I liked the addition of the killer's perspective. You won't want to put it down.
Wow what an instalment of another Helen Grace investigation.
This time there are so many twists and turns, Helen is still causing her usual problems for the higher ups and they try to bury her.
Will she at last come out on top or will this latest enquiry be her last.
This is a fantastic read and can’t wait for the next book .
Orion Publising thank you foe this 11th book in the series of Helen Grace.
I liked the book couse was fast, short chapters were great as always. I loved Helen Grace ans Charlie Brooks and her devotion from one to eachother. But that Emilia Granita is not really someone wants to read about anymore. She done all and shw couls go finay.
I think was the first book that started better then ended. I was a little sas again, not the first one how all the work of Grace was not appreciated. But this seems also it will be an other book...
As usual Arlidge did not disappoint. Great plot and fabulous character writing. Cat and mouse hooked me in at the start. Highly recommended.
There is a deranged killer on the loose, who targets those at home alone. The victims seem random. Helen heads the team to find the killer, whilst being a target herself from a previous case with the dangerous Alex Blythe. With numerous burglaries also happening, it is a race to halt the crimes and also save herself.
Great for fans of fast paced, action packed thrillers. Loads of twists and sub plots! Excellent!
Complex thriller featuring Detective inspector Helen Grace. Tense and full of suspense, a good read with plenty of action.
I normally love This author but could not get stuck into this book. I did not finish it but I hope to try and get back into it in the future.
I can’t believe we are 11 books in to the Helen Grace series. I’ve loved these books since the first. Each and every book grabs you and draws you in. Poor Helen has had so many bumps and scrapes along the way as she struggles to keep Southampton safe. After many run ins with her bosses and journalists we’re left wondering if Helen will survive and luckily for us readers so far she has. Each time I start a new book I wonder what else MJ can do with these fantastic characters and each time I’m never disappointed. I highly recommend this series they are an enthralling read that always grab you from page one.
