This book follows Rainy as she embarks on a girls trip with a group of friends, that aren't really her friends. One thing leads to another and she finds herself in her past and she can't quite get out of it.
I really enjoyed this book, it was tense and had me on the edge of my seat.
My only con is that I did guess the twist in the book and it was eventually quite obvious what was about to happen but nevertheless, this book was good.
I rated it 3.5 stars!

Rainy feels out of place in her community of Tiger Mountain, but when she is included in a girls trip to Vegas she is reluctant to go, but can't back out. No-one has any idea of the real reason they she is so reluctant to go back there.
Being in Nevada takes Rainy back to a very dark place, a place she escaped years ago and a place she never wanted to go back to. But once there, she feels like she has to face her demons once and for all.
This was on the whole a good read. A little bit slow at times and with some very shallow, unlikeable characters (not necessarily a bad thing!), but with a host of flashbacks to flesh out Rainy's back story, it did well to explain why she was like she was.

This wasn't for me, didn't like the writing, I think it would appeal to fans of cults but for me it's just overdone

I didn't really like this book. It was weird and didn't live up to the blurb. Whilst I liked the main character she didn't make sense with who her 'friends' and 'partner' were. The whole back story was another snoozefest. Cults are kind of been there and done that, this had nothing new to add.

The first book I've read by this much talked about author.
Rainy is the outsider in the Tiger Mountain women's clique. When they arrange a girls' trip to Vegas she's dreading it.
Rainy spent her childhood living in a cult in the Nevada desert.
Stories about rich women's cliques? I can take them or leave them, it's so frequently used.
Stories about cults? Hmmm, they only have about a 20% hit rate for me. No spoilers, but the leaders of the cults are invariably depraved egomaniacs. So two hurdles to cross...
Guess what? It really surprised me! It goes off in unexpected directions with a really nice flow and I was hooked. Tight plotting, some nice surprises and very unpredictable.
Recommended and that rare gem of a book involving cults that really worked for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Headline Books

Rainy has joined a women's group to please her husband. They all go to Vegas, although she didn't want to go because of past secrets. She had previously lived in a commune in a town called Frienship, under the control of Taured, and terrible things had happened. Now the past and present will collide.
Wow! Amazing twists and pace, I definitely will read more from this author, brilliant book!

Tarryn's writing is not for everyone. It's a bit strange but I'm on board with it. Her writing and her stories are a little unconventional and I'm not mad about it.
This one started off so strong. It had cult vibes, it had mystery and it had intrigue. However, the closer I got to the halfway point, the more I kept thinking, "How is the past and present going to meet? How will the two connect?"
There was no golden thread between the main character's past and present so when it did collide, it was a car crash. It was messy, nonsensical, overdramatic and at times, plain dumb. Unfortunately, it went downhill so very quickly and I'm sad about it because it had a very strong start.

Could not put this down!
Tarryn Fisher knows how to write a cracking thriller novel and she never lets me down

Overall a good read, a bit slow at times but full of lies and past secrets, the storyline including past life in a cult seems popular at the moment, good characters, very readable

An Honest Lie by Tarryn Fisher
I give this book 4.25 stars
Rainy lives at the top of Tiger Mountain. It's a sanctuary - a new life where she can hide from her disturbing past.
While on a girls' weekend in Vegas, one of the women goes missing!
Then Rainy gets a message. Someone has her friend but Rainy is who they really want, and she knows why. It’s time to step back into the past…….
When you can’t escape your past and end up facing it full on.This twisted and disturbing read has flashbacks from the past combined with a present storyline and l was completely hooked on learning about Summers traumatic childhood, her relationship with her mother and life within a cult. The girls trip had a host of characters l couldn’t warm to, but showed how strong Rainy had become.
A page turning psychological thriller that l couldn’t stop reading!
With thanks to Netgalley,Tarryn Fisher and Headline Accent for my chance to read and review this book

Rainey is hiding from something and during a girls trip to Vegas her past starts to be uncovered. What has she been running from? A cult which she escaped as a teen.
The story started off really good and it was intriguing to here the back story to Rainey and all about the cult and the manipulative Taured. Towards the end of the book tho I felt that it got a little confused and it was hard to understand fully what was going on with the flashbacks and current timeline. Overall I did really enjoy this up untill the last couple of paragraphs. Thank you #netgalley for the arc.

An Honest Lie is Tarryn Fisher’s latest thriller. The story follows main character Rainy.
We have two storylines running parallel - a past and present. The past sees Rainy’s childhood as she and her mother move to a compound with an old friend and as it transpires they join his cult. In the present we have Rainy in her new mountain home with some new friends, some who end up acting rather strangely.
Both storylines are quite complex. We progress through Rainy’s past scenes with little drops of information coming through at a time to build a picture of how future Rainy has come to be.
This definitely didn’t turn out like I thought and indeed I had no idea how the ending was going to come about! If you enjoy A. R. Torre’s thrillers I’d definitely recommend you check out Tarryn’s. We are also a fan of Tarryn’s romance novels so check those out too!

Interesting read overall but not so remarkable or intriguing as I would’ve expected, especially after seeing so many rave reviews around the social media pages.
The cult was probably my favourite part but I didn’t care that much for any of the characters to be honest.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

Cult thrillers seem to be an in thing at the moment and this one was particularly clever with some hugely engaging characters and a page turner if a story.
Forced into friendships she could do without in order to fit in, our main protagonist ends up revisiting a place she assumed she'd never return to. In classic psychological thriller style, Tarryn Fisher manages the past present tale beautifully, keeping things edgy and unpredictable.
Another great read from this author.

This is the first Tarryn Fisher I have read & I'm so glad I did. This story had me gripped from the first page that I devoured it within one day as I could not put it down.
A true must read thriller of the decade.
Thank you to Netgalley & Headline Publishing Group for providing me this ARC for review.
All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

WOW, WOW WOW. Do not miss this book. It is sooo well written, completely gripping so make sure you set aside many hours so that you can greedily devour it in one swoop. With an eye for precise detail balanced by a sweeping imagination, this beautifully constructed book is built on deep foundations. Read it at least twice….

This book wasn't going where I thought it would but I loved it. tarryn fisher once again writes an excellent story.

This book turned out very differently from what I expected from reading the first few chapters, but I'm confident in is Tarryn Fisher's best yet. I love a revenge story, and she expertly weaves the past and present narratives together - when the two meet, it is incredibly satisfying. Rainy is a character to root for!

This book was nothing at all what I thought it was going to be, and I'm not really too fond of the subject matter and plot devices. I feel like the synopsis was a red herring, and I expected something completely different that what I received.
(Will update with blog and social posts when live.)

Rainy is reluctant to join her cliquey friends on a girls weekend to Vegas, given they don't know about the secrets that lurk in her past. However, when she relents the trip turns into much more than she bargained for!
Overall I found the pacing of this book very slow, which meant that for a lot of it I felt bored rather than tense. The characters were OK, but it was fairly clear early on to see where the story was going. Not one that blew me away!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
