A fun, light, quick summer read that’s perfect for the beach. It was lighthearted, swoony and easy to read however I felt that the characters lacked real chemistry, and felt as if they didn’t have enough depth and I actually don’t know much about them. It just felt like a big cliche, and cheesy, there was nothing that really sets it apart from other summer romcoms, I did enjoy Samantha and romans banter, however I wish there was better sex scenes with more emotion and feeling in it.
Thank you to the publishers, netgalley and amber rose gill for the arc.
I wasn't expecting much from this book but it was a nice pleasant read. Perfect for the Summer. I read it a while ago so can't remember it detail by detail but I thoroughly enjoyed it for a chic lit book.
Im a big romance reader and a secret love island fan so I was really looking forward to this one and I was really disappointed. Tried the audiobook which was even worse, monotone.
I actually read this book whilst on holiday and found it was the perfect book for sitting around the pool. Easy to read, didn’t take too much brain power to understand but a thoroughly enjoyable read. Thank you for my advance copy
Thanks to #NetGalley for providing me with an eArc in return for a fair review.
This holiday romance was slightly different. I really liked that we were given the opportunity to get to know the supporting characters as well as the main cast.
Samantha travels to Tobago for her friend's wedding. She was supposed to be going with her boyfriend but at the last minute, he decided to end their relationship. Samantha ends up travelling alone for the wedding. Whilst there she meets Roman, and they spend a lot of time together.
This was a fun easy read perfect for the summertime. I thought this was an ok read but I didn't find the characters to be particularly memorable. I wasn't swept up in the romance. I also would have liked to have seen some of the side characters be developed a bit more. Overall this was an ok read.
An easy to read summer romance.
Not the best book that I have ever read but it was easy reading and a great book to sit pool side or at the beach with! I can't say that I have much of an opinion, it was just a good summer read - I can't say I would go out and buy it myself, but I did enjoy it.
A great debut and I think that Amber Gill will do great things with her future books.
This was a lovely and fun Summer read, a great debut from Amber - I look forward to what stories she has coming up next.
This is a cute, easy beach read. It’s a little predictable but an enjoyable read all the same.
It’s a decent debut and I would read more from this author in future.
Until I met you was a slightly predictable romance novel, with predictable storylines and connections forming. It is an easy read with some interesting friendships to delve into.
Perfect summer read with addicting characters that made me laugh and want to cry. Such an easy read - i read it in a day. So surprised with home much I enjoyed this one.
Roman and Samantha meet on the island of Tobago where he is currently living and she is staying for a wedding. They don't hit it off at first, but soon are falling for each other, but what will happen when it is time for Samantha to return home.
This is a perfect beach read you love. The writing style is amazing it’s funny and a sweet rom com you love. With great characters and story. You feel as if you in the book with them.
Hmmm, I am a little lost as to what to say, I really, really wanted to love this book - I tried so hard to love it......but I hate to say it, I didn't.
I have to be honest, I didn't know who Amber Rose Gill was before I started reading this, I am one of the scarce people on the planet who doesn't watch Love Island (sorry, I don't like reality TV) but what I didn't know about the author I did now that I really liked the sound of this book - alas that was about as much love as I can show for this book.
I don't like to rip a book or an author's hard work part, it's down right rude and I refuse to here, but I will say that if you liked over the top border-line cheesy romance with a too-cute couple set in a sunny paradise then this is the book for you.
Persoanlly, it just didn't hit the right marks, yes it's cheerful and full of sunshine but I wanted more to it then there was.
Oh I LOVED this sweet easy romance.
I have followed Amber since her Love Island days and I lover her humour and honesty and that she has tried to do things a bit differently. She is feisty and fiery too in a world that mostly still wants women to be small, pretty and quiet. Writing a book is a perfect example of how she has tried to do different things and also be a force for good as this book coincided with her launching a Love to Write competition with Mills and Boon for un-agented and unpublished romance writers from under represented ethnic backgrounds.
But back to the book.
I really enjoyed the diverse mix of characters and the setting. The location descriptions were excellent and I felt like I was there. Likewsie the return to England definitely captured the drabness we all feel when we come home. The romance is sweet with a little bit of spice too and whilst it is really a fairly easy route to happy ever after I liked it. I liked Samantha so much. I definitely want to be her friend.
If you are looking for a fun, light-hearted enjoyable summer beach read romance you can't go wrong with this one!
Set in beautiful Tobago, Samantha and Roman are avoiding everyone. Fate has another plan. A predictable rom com but you can't help but like the setting, characters and storyline. An easy read.
A cute, little romance, very easy to read, but not my favourite. I wasn’t quite as invested in the story as I expected, and honestly, it seemed a little lacklustre for me. It’s not a bad story, just not for me, I’m sorry to say.
This is a super cute read that packs a punch. It really surprised me!
Samantha Roberts is newly single and travelling to her best friend Naomi's wedding in Tobago. Samantha is based in London with her and Naomi's group of friends travelling from across the globe.
Whilst in Tobago, Samantha meets, and hits it off with, groom Anthony's friend from his college days, Roman Carver. But will it be smooth sailing for these two?
I absolutely loved the backdrop of Tobago for this story and the diversity of the characters. Each couple are at different stages in their relationship and it was really interesting to read. Not only is it a sweet romance novel but I love how it delves into their friendship group, their struggles and how they communicate together.
Really lovely!
If you're not going abroad this year then Until I Met will definitely give you that jet-setting summer experience you're missing out on!
Amber Rose Gill's debut novel is charming, heartfelt and filled with sunshine. This is the type of book where you can see cover to cover within a few hours because it's such an easy read although brim packed with drama. Although at times it is obvious that Amber has had help with this novel (no shaming from me!) it really translates her need for a strong, black, ambitious young woman in Samantha that romance novels are so desperate for.
I really enoyed the chemisty between Samantha and Roman and felt amongst the friendship group when secrets broke and time became a little tough.
All in all, if you're looking for a pool read or even a commuting handbag treat, Until I Met You is the book to get your hands on this summer.
Great little summer romance with a feisty set of friends and a whole load of drama, laughter and tears.
