Fantastic physiological thriller kept me up guessing all night I could not put this book down I love a good thriller that keeps you turning the pages so fast paced an enjoyable read
It is a nicely written thriller. I loved the pacing and the characterisation. The story was full of twists and turns.
I accidentally reviewed another book here, and not it doesn't want me to remove it.
Thinks looks like an entertaining read that I will still read, and just review elsewhere.
This starts out slow and steady and builds up with a lot of tension. It is told between now and then. What lengths will a sister go to protect her sister. A tension building physcological thriller.
A good read
This story alternates between now and five years ago
The end is not what I thought it would be
Thanks NetGalley

This was a good and interesting book. I enjoyed the reading experience of this book and finished it in one day. I felt like this book had a few similarities to a book I had previously read. It was a good enough story it just didn't thrill me enough to get the higher star rating. I felt it just wasn't a unique enough story. There were exciting parts to the story that kept up my interest and there was some unexpected events which is always good.
I did however struggle to connect with the female protagonist Frankie. I found her slightly annoying with a constant need to protect her sister. Well I won't be giving any of the story away but if the work out why she is so intent to risk everything for her sister just let me know as it all confused me. She is a mother I expected the priority to be her own child.
It had a nice medium place but it did have its slow parts aswell. I'm still glad I have read and experienced this book. I was just left with to many questions. It could be that this story wasn't logical enough for me as I'm autistic . So if the synopsis peaks your interest try a sample of the book. My average rating could be your favourite book as everyone's taste is different.
Many thanks to the author and publishers for creating a very interesting book. It certainly had me thinking throughout.

Night of the Accident by Heather Chavez.
How far would you go to protect someone you love, but we're never able to trust?
A twisty page Turner. Couldn't put it down. Great story. 5*.
Frankie gets questioned over the disappearance of a teenager, due to her truck being seen at the crime scene. She knows it must be her sister Izzie who was driving, but why? Izzie is not forthcoming with the truth, and has drug and alcohol problems. Is it all connected to a car accident years ago, and can Frankie get to the truth?
Izzie's character is demanding, as she lies and is hard to pin down. However, as more secrets are revealed, the twists keep coming and the parts all come together. Fascinating read!
This is the first novel I've read by Heather Chavez and the synopsis and praise from one of my favourite authors attracted me to it. It started off well and I liked the style of writing. However, sadly there wasn't enough here to keep me interested throughout. The pace started to drag and I found it hard to connect with the characters.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
Why are a couple staring hard at Frankie Barrera at a petrol station? When two police cars pull up why are they so interested in Frankie’s vehicle? When she’s questioned by a detective it transpires they believe the vehicle connects to a teenage girl who goes missing the night before. However, Frankie did not use it that night but is it possible her sister Izzy took it? Is Izzy involved? If so how and why? The novel then backtracks to five years previously and Izzy’s story and alternates with the present day.
I like the start of this one and the premise is a good one and it’s intriguing trying to sift through the guilt and lies to get to the truth. Nothing seems to make sense to Frankie and I’m keen to figure it all out.
However, I find it hard to connect to either Izzy or Frankie as both carry out actions that seem irrational and there’s a lot of rushing about North California and not achieving much. As this is a character driven novel it’s a tad unfortunate not to care too much about the central protagonists!
The pace becomes quite slow and it’s a bit of a slog partly as it’s overlong in my opinion. It gets repetitive too as we hear rather frequently from Frankie that she has always looked out for Izzy since she was a little girl. Yes, message received and understood!!
The big reveal is certainly unexpected and seems far fetched and makes me cringe a bit but at least it has the benefit of being something you don’t foresee. I do like the actual ending and I very much like the character of Frankie’s son Julian who is a sweet breath of fresh air.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Headline for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
The events of 5 years ago catch up to Frankie, when she protected her sister on the night a girl went missing. Now five years later, another girl is missing. And again, she is linked to Izzy, Frankie's sister. How far is Frankie willing to go to protect her sister... again?
This started off slow but started to build up pace quickly once I was about half way through. Once that happened, the book just got better and better. The twist was brilliant, definitely unexpected! The *final* twist was VERY unexpected too!
A fantastic thriller that is so worth the read!
A first for me by this author and it won't be the last. The storyline had me hooked from the start and kept me gripped throughout.Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Thanks to Netgalley and Headline publishers for the ARC

Whirlwind of a thriller! I loved it. This author has a knack for writing the perfect thriller and delivering it at the perfect pacing. I am immediately identified with the main characters.
This was just such an amazing read!I loved every second if this and it kept me completely enthralled. It is so cleverly written and has so many layers and twists and turns that it's just an absolutely captivating story that grips you and won't let you go. Couldn't recommend highly enough
