This is a great book club kit and it will come in handy for book discussions. I cant wait to use this kit with the teens of the library
A great addition to what I've heard is a fantastic story. I've always been a big fan of add-ons when it comes to books. Whether it be an exclusive chapter, questions for book clubs, author interviews, etc... I love that there was this small addition to a well-written book.
All my rage - Sabaa Tahir - 5 stars
This book speaks so loud for every single person who doesn't have a voice of their own or is too afraid to speak up even when it's really, really necessary. It's a devastatingly profound, emotionally moving story exploring the lives of three main characters and their interwoven journeys. Salahudin and Noor, our protagonists, are trying to get out of Juniper. The place where they are facing racism is in all forms and ways. This novel confronts the complex realities of existence in a place like Juniper that isn't created for the oppressed to prosper in. Sabaa Tahir brilliantly shows how interconnected societal forces shape groups and people’s lives via the accumulated effect of instances past their control: substance abuse, debt, racism, trauma, and poverty are intricately woven collectively to inform a deeply shifting, intergenerational story.
All my rage is a must-read and takes the readers through an unforgettable emotional journey.
I loved this book club kit! Not only was it a refreshing take on the content of the book, but it was also a good way to learn a few new recipes
This was so helpful in so many ways - I am planning to use it in my classes next year and will plan to teach All My Rage - one of my favourite reads this year! Thank you for organizing this for readers like me! :)
A great companion to the book. The novel is a great choice for book clubs and this was perfect to have for discussion and further information to delve deeper. Plus a fun recipe to have while hosting and even a playlist!
All My Rage will hands down be in my top books of the year. I loved this book and what it represented. While sad, I also think that many important messages were portrayed in this book. This is my favorite YA novel in a long time.
This story is told from alternating viewpoints going back and forth from present day California to Pakistan years prior to Misbah moving to the U.S. to marry. This story depicts the life of Misbah and her ailing health while trying to take care of her family and her dream of running a hotel. The story also is told by her son Sal and his best friend Noor. What lengths they both have to go to as high schoolers to just barely make it by each day.
I would highly suggest that everyone pick this book up. This book will definitely leave you with some pretty big feels.
Thank you to NetGalley and the friends at We Are Bookish for providing the book club experience.
This is an enjoyable packet that provides a plethora of interesting information to use for a book club. There are not enough book clubs in this world, especially for teen readers. This is a necessity. I love it!
The discussion questions are thought provoking and a good talking point for any book group. I think the added bits such as the recipe and playlist will help readers get into the mood when reading/discussing this book.
This is such a fun, engaging book club kit! I love reading interviews with authors, and hearing about what inspired them to write their novel. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, and I loved how Netgalley began including this in request. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.
All My Rage is about two teens, both with Pakistani background, who faced trauma trying to ,kinda, fix their lives while still battling against everything that tries to stop them
This book deals, among other things, with islamophobia, racism, drug abuse, addiction, death, domestic abuse.
It is heart-breaking but powerful nonetheless.
It’s supposed to be YA but it definitely doesn’t read like it. The book is so well written and make you empathise with all of the emotions.
While reading it you feel, how desperate Noor and Sal feel, you want to help them fix everything but you know you can’t help them. This book made me angry but hopeful. You feel like everything gets worse and worse but at the end, all turns better.
I think everyone should read this book.
All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir brings center stage the existential issues of the diaspora - their inner struggles and frictions, socio-cultural contras, the strife for gaining foothold in an alien society wherein individuals are treated as obscure minority if they do not hail from the dominant milieu. I am sure it will be a very interesting and intriguing commentary, in the guise of fictional narrative, on the build up of young adults, the future of a nation, who undergo the identity crisis of growing up in a society where the norms are way different from their ancestral roots and values.
The Book Club Kit seems to amalgamate the flavours of both East and West to acquaintance and converge the readers to a platform where understanding of the narrator and the narrative, the characters and their journey through life , their turmoil and upbringing tempered by their not-so-smooth co-existential experiences is facilitated. An imaginative and creative effort indeed which broadens the horizon of the would-be-readers as well.
I loved the book, but with hindsight, I think it would've been incomplete without this kit that is very engaging, and a great discussion generator.
This was a great kit! It was well organized and appealing to the reader. I enjoyed the discussion questions, they were extremely helpful for my book club's discussion. I also loved the playlist. A perfect soundtrack to the book.
This is a great tool for bookclubs that are reading All My Ragre Very insightful questions and also includes an author note and interview. You will also find recipes that pair with the book. What more a reader could ask for? Thank you to the publisher for providing this wonderful addition to the book.
This Book Club Kit is the perfect addition to All My Rage and really challenges your thoughts and feelings of the book. I enjoyed the discussion questions, they add even more depth to the story and make you understand Noor, Salahudin and Misbah even better.
I'll definitely print the bookmarks and try the recipes, I love that you get this kind of access to one really important part of the characters life: food.
I'll definitely come back to this book club kit once I've re-read the book.
This is an excellent book club kit to accompany ALL MY RAGE. Not only did I find the discussion questions excellent, I got greater insight into the book through the author interview. I think it would be fun for a book club to make the suggested recipes or listen to the Spotify playlist. This will enrich the reading experience of those reading alone or with a group.
I absoluelty love these kits and so I am going to say the same thing I said for all the rest of them. I run a book group that is all about the intersectionality of gender, race, class etc where we read fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and plays that dabble in an assortment of genres for ages twelve and up. A kit like this makes it 10x easier to prep for my discussion that month with a sort of guideline for what sort of questions can be asked on top of the author interviews. I also really enjoy the handouts that these kits provide. The book marks and even book related lists are great for patrons wanting more from the book group.
This book club kit was very complete and I think it would be a great addition to the book.
I though that the note to readers identifying the triggers and spoiler warnings was a bit much because one assumes that the book has been read before starting the kit.
The letter from the author was a nice touch - and gave insight into the book.
I didn't think the cover was striking, but the inspiration described in the interview made me look at it differently.
The discussion questions were well thought out and are sure to encourage a lively discussion of the book.
I liked the little extras - the bookmarks, recipes, and what to read next. I think that covered just about everything a book club would want to know. Likewise, the resources were interesting too.
I think that the inclusion of other books by the author and some of her information was helpful to put the story into context.
And the Playlist! What a great idea! I think that the playlist would set the mood for the book club, and along with the Chai and Kulfi, bring the group into Sabaa's world.
I loved Sabaa Tahir's young adult fantasy series, and am so glad that I got to read not just All My Rage, but also this book club kit. Not only does it contain very insightful questions, but also a wonderful recipe that you will not want to miss!
