This was an interesting book, although I’m not the biggest fan of pregnancy on Thursday. I’m also con of like a pregnancy trap trope. It’s not really my thing but I thought I’d give this book ago regardless and I thought it was okay considering I’ve hated this type of book for a long time. I think this is actually a breakthrough I think it wasn’t the whole entire plot, but I think it was a relatively good book and I would rate it pretty good
This is the first in a series of romances based in South Africa. Elodie Kate (Dodi) owns and runs an exclusive bridal boutique whilst Jago is the traditional Alpha male billionaire. They are family friends and have always been in each other’s lives but recently they have begun to see each other in a different light. After a one night stand Dodie realises she is pregnant but will past relationships and scarred childhoods prevent them moving forward together.
These are two strong characters which develop as the novel progresses. I enjoyed the setting, some great descriptions of South Africa but did the character have to be white, tall etc.
I’m sorry to say this wasn’t particularly memorable - I’ve already forgotten both the plot and the characters!
Elodie is Jago's little sister's best friend and they have known each other for years, but recently Jago is seeing Elodie as a woman and not just his little sister's best friend. After one steamy night together Elodie finds herself pregnant and Jago is scared about what type of father he is going to be and his first response of taking control is not going to win Elodie over.
This is the first in a new South African series of stories and it was lovely to get a little glimpse of all that South Africa offers.
I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down as it drew me in immediately and before I knew it I was in the middle of the book! Perfect romantic read.
I received an ARC from Mills and Boon and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Perfectly adequate beach read but I’m afraid I didn’t find it anything special. So many othe fabulous Mills and Boon writers might have made this trope more exciting and more realistic. I found the heroine really annoying and rigid in her prejudices.
This is a typical South African story in my experience. The strong silent alpha with a scarred heart which is healed by the love of an equally emotionally scarred woman. The alphas are tall, white and well built, the women are also tall, white and lovely. A trope that never tires. Except that i have found them rather too predictable, even though that is how the story is expected to go.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
Really enjoyed this and read in one go so a good indication how much I enjoyed this
Great read, I read it through in one sitting. A strong couple in Dodie and Jago who make the air crackle with tension when they are together. We follow Dodge’s hopes and dreams for her wedding dress shop and dig down into how her upbringing has shaped her feelings for her job as well as how she sees herself as a partner in a relationship. Jago is strong and sexy and a great foil for Dodie.
I enjoyed this quick romance. There seemed to be chemistry between Jago and Dodi. I liked how sparky Dodi was and that she didn’t allow him to walk all over her and her wishes
The emotion and the passion match the sizzling hot climate of South Africa, the setting for this billionaire romance. Jago and Elodie Kate (Dodi) have always been in each other's lives, as she is his sister's best friend, but they have hardly talked, although they did share a passionate kiss years before.
Emotional and sensual, the chemistry between Jago and Elodie intensifies in her high-end wedding boutique. Wary of commitment after traumatic childhoods and past relationships, the unexpected pregnancy forces them to be honest about their true feelings and face their fears. The conflicted romance takes them on an emotional rollercoaster, and the ending is romantic and satisfying,
I like the believable characters, family dynamics and passionate romance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
